Enhanced Crossbow Oddity[edit]

The enhanced crossbow is marked with the little lightning sign indicating the weapon is enchanted, presumably referring to its ability to ignore 50% of armor. However, this is not a true enchantment. The enhanced crossbow cannot be disenchanted, and like other non-enchanted weapons it can be given one or two enchantments of your choice, depending on your skill in Enchanting. However -- and this is the odd point -- the crossbow's information will not change if it is enchanted by you. There will be no note of the new enchantments in the weapon's information box, which will continue to display the "ignores 50% of armor" notation. Nevertheless, any added enchantments appear to be operative. I have just used my enhanced crossbow, further enchanted with Fire Damage and Fiery Soul Trap, to shoot a mage. He burst into flames and I received the message that there was no soul gem in my inventory large enough to trap his soul, so all three effects (2 Fire Damage and 1 Soul Trap) seem to be working, despite no indications of this in the weapon's specs. — Unsigned comment by 174.6.51.17 (talk) at 07:04 on 5 January 2013‎

2 Fire Damage and 1 Soul Trap? Don't you mean 1 Ignore 50% Armor 1 Fire Damage and 1 Soul Trap? 50.0.25.231 07:37, 9 January 2013 (GMT)
OP did indeed mean 2 Fire Damage effects refer to: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Fiery_Soul_Trap — Unsigned comment by 63.227.45.129 (talk) at 20:31 on 8 April 2014

Bloodskal Barrow[edit]

The quest is trying to send me to Bloodskal Barrow. I have Dragonborn DLC but have not done any quests from it yet. Thought it quite odd that it would try send me here. — Unsigned comment by 124.148.140.40 (talk) at 12:01 on 26 February 2013

Skyrim's radiant quest system uses conditions from game data, such as keywords, to determine which radiant targets are chosen for quests. If a new location/NPC meets the conditions, then it can be chosen. This applies to new places/NPCs added by official add-ons as well, so this is normal. I've added a note to the page that Dragonborn locations are added to the list of possible locations, hopefully that will clear up any confusion people might have if the same thing happens to them.
Also, for some Skyrim quests like this which send the player to Solstheim, you won't see a quest marker while in Skyrim- you actually have to be in Solstheim for the quest marker to appear. Did this happen to you? If so, that note should be added to the page as well (I didn't add it since I wasn't sure if that applied in this case). — ABCface 14:33, 26 February 2013 (GMT)
This just happened to me. She sent me to Hrodulf's House on Solstheim to get the schematic. I couldn't find a quest marker, so I came here to find out where Hrodulf's House is located. I initially assumed it was bugged by not showing the quest marker. I do have an arrow to the NE of Skyrim that points to Solstheim. It's not a quest marker and had nothing to do with this quest. I can click that arrow to fast travel to Solstheim. I don't know if that is part of a mod or not. If it's part of the standard game, then I think they should have put a quest marker up there pointing NE to indicate that I needed to go to Solstheim to find the radiant location. --Ignotus (talk) 03:36, 14 April 2013 (GMT)

Potential bug/glitch after finishing Ancient Tech[edit]

I finished the questline to the point that I received the ability to manufacture the Enhanced Dwarven Crossbow and Sorine sold was able to sell it to me. The problem arose when I was trying to get the Dawnguard special equipment quests such as the Dawnguard Rune Hammer. Florentius directed me to Sorine and Gunmar while Sorine directed me to Gunmar alone. However, the quest to improve Sorine's ancient tech in the miscellaneous quests section is still there despite me having finished it.

To be honest, I love Skyrim but I am getting majorly frustrated with their inability to end quests for consoles as this is just another one like the Bard's College, the flute I think, and Liefnarr to mention a few. Just add a quit quest button in the quest menu so that we can get rid of the stuff.

Any help to prove that this is a glitch or tell me how to fix it other than loading a prior save would be much appreciated. — Unsigned comment by 68.12.55.102 (talk) at 08:43 on 12 April 2013

I also have this same bug -- all Dawnguard main and side quests completed and it keeps the Sorine crossbow objective in the "undone" misc. quest area. How frustrating. — Unsigned comment by 76.247.141.24 (talk) at 13:48 on 16 May 2013
This condition is not just in console games, but in PC version as well. I am playing on PC and have all Ancient Technology quests completed. Did figure out what went wrong, but have not found a solution. If you do not ask Isran if there is anything you can do to help, but go directly to Sorine first and ask her the same, it starts the quest, but it never completes it, even though you have obtained all items. — Unsigned comment by 68.35.246.252 (talk) at 19:07 on 1 July 2013
I also had this bug, with the misc objective being to "Help Sorine with her project to improve the crossbow". I managed to get it out of my quest log it by typing in console SetObjectiveCompleted DLC1Radiant 20 1.
I had a similar problem but I found that if you talk to Isran first thereby receiving the misc quest. Then go and talk to Sorine Jurard the misc quest will be completed after asking her "What can I do to help?" — Unsigned comment by Hedeji (talkcontribs) at 20:26 on 16 May 2014 (GMT)

Falskaar?[edit]

I'm not sure if this is significant enough to put in the main article, but if the Falskaar mod is installed, Sorine may send you to retrieve schematics from locations on Falskaar. (I was confused at first as to why I couldn't find a "Watervine Chasm.") --50.88.131.73 16:50, 17 April 2014 (GMT)

We don't mention mods in articles, so no, it's not significant. --Rook (talk) 17:02, 17 April 2014 (GMT)

Complete 9 times[edit]

"This quest can be completed six times." enhanced + fire/ice/shock + dwarven + fire/ice/shock + enhanced dwarven = nine times, no? — Unsigned comment by 109.128.88.52 (talk) at 13:48 on 2 July 2014

According to SR:Quest Items, there are only 6 schematics in existence. You also only have to find the Dwemer exploding bolts schematics, not the steel bolts. —<({QT>> 13:57, 2 July 2014 (GMT)

Heading to Solstheim Worked[edit]

I was having trouble with finding the schematic and when I traveled to Raven zeock, I restarted the quest and it showed me right where to go to find it. — Unsigned comment by 70.189.98.25 (talk) at 07:41 on 25 June 2015 (UTC)

Repeated request for same recipe bug[edit]

I have screen shots of the quest list showing two consecutive Ancient Technology quests for the Enhanced Crossbow Schematic if that helps or is requested. I don't believe one is allowed to confirm one's proposed bug. It could be a "one off", only time will tell. Kalevala 22:31, 12 July 2015 (UTC)

Won't change location[edit]

Trying to change the location of the schematic, like I do for the thieves guild radiant quest, but for some reason it is stuck on sending me to Damphall Mine and won't change. I've tried leaving asking for other quest and waiting. Is it stuck or am I screwed? — Unsigned comment by 98.157.233.80 (talk) at 21:13 on 15 November 2021‎ (UTC)

Bugs: Missing console commands[edit]

The console command list under Bugs is missing the formulas for adding all three Exploding Dwarven Bolts (Fire, Ice, and Shock). If anyone knows these, they should add the commands. LegateIacobus (talk) 20:49, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
