Spoilers, yay!: The first quest is to get King Olaf's verse of the Poetic Edda, which is contained in Dead Man's Respite (near Morthal), so Viarmo can use it to convince Elisif (queen of Solitude and widow of the late High King that Ulfric killed) to let him hold the festival of the Burning of King Olaf. The impression is that if I complete this task, they'll let me join -- the quest is pre-membership ("When possible, we ask applicants to perform tasks the college needs completed. In this case, I do have a task befitting an aspiring bard..."). He mentions that Giraud Gemane figured out where the verse was located. I don't know what the quest is called. If we need blow-by-blow dialogue (or the quest name, of all things), I can get it. --Thiafy 04:59, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
