Dead Thrall's Stuck?[edit]

Anyone else have their Dead Thrall's stuck in here? I have two and they are forever stuck in here. I still have the active effects of them and I can travel all over and go back here and my two guys are stuck there. Any ideas of what to do? — Unsigned comment by TheVirginsSon (talkcontribs) at 04:08 on 5 December 2011

Yes happend to me as well. I added a fix for PC to the article.--Moonraker 17:35, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
Confirmed on PS3
My Dark Brotherhood Initiate reliably gets stuck in here. Since there's no console on the PS3 game, I had to restore from a save. Thundre 10:59, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Same Problem on 360 My 2 thrawls are stuck also.[edit]

I am getting very frustrated with all the bugs in this game. Its disgusting following such good games with this. Its the pits, reminds me of M$. I think I have redone nearly as many mission as I have completed at this point. Map markers I have found previously have gone black, I have the iteration of one guy at the stables of Whiterun, My companions quest line is locked up at the death of "K" and because I found the silver hand hide out previously its never going to let me get the sky forge upgraded. :( So When it this going to be fixed on the 360? I would like a definitive answer if the text message controller for 360 will bring up console mode. Jmarier 04:37, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Amulet of the Moon[edit]

If this quest is randomly assigned to this dungeon it can be done quickly with any of the Water Breathing equipment, spell or potions by staying underwater and uninterrupted from the entrance to the Grotto to the underwater master level chest at the farthest end. It is one of the uncommon times when water breathing pays off, but this is probably just a tip. Kalevala 21:03, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Use as Player Home?[edit]

Since it is marked as safe (never respawning) could I use this as a player home? After I deal with the Black Blood Marauders quest of course. I Googled this and found some people requesting this, and even saw 1 mod that made the place "non respawning", but I though it was already non respawning? So can I use EVERY container inside safely? And if I get a radiant quest here will it reset things? Or will I not get a radiant quest assigned if It is marked as cleared? Sorry for so many questions, but I was going to make an outlaw/pirate like character and this seemed like the perfect hideout. It is no Dunbarrow Cove though. Ice 22:33, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Being "cleared" is not the same as "everything never respawning". Cleared means approximately "already visited, went through and killed the boss/completed the objective for some quest." I do not know of a "safe" marker; even your "home" (really a dorm room) in the College at Winterhold has respawning barrels although the furniture is safe. The best policy is to assume any home that you did not purchase has unsafe containers that respawn over time having nothing to do with obtaining other quests. If you got the home through marriage, containers need to be tested since many close by containers might not belong to your spouse and will respawn. If you are willing to gamble you can dump stuff in respawning containers for a short time and retrieve it later. Kalevala 18:50, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
I meant on the page it says next to respawn time "Never, storage is SAFE", and this location is also listed under http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Category:Skyrim-Places-Safe. And the question about it being cleared was if you could get a radiant quest at an already cleared location, since I thought they chose locations you haven't yet visited. Ice 20:08, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
The Containers page says this in the Safe Locations section: "In a few instances, there may be quest-related changes to the location (as noted on the individual place page), but otherwise the game does not modify the contents of a safe location." Even though this individual place page does not say anything about quest-related changes, it's possible that the appropriate information wasn't added to this page. From looking at the possible radiant quests, it does seem like it's possible that there may be changes to this location. Considering the possible radiant quests, I'm guessing that you should be careful about using the boss chest in this cave at the very least. Either way, this is a good question, and one that deserves to be looked into further by someone with greater knowledge of game-data. Until then, I'd make sure to save often (before taking quests with radiant destinations-- that way, you can reload and get another destination if they do send you here originally) ABCface 04:59, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

Storage isn't quite "Safe"[edit]

This has been marked as a question that needs to be answered.

The info panel on the Broken Oar Grotto page states that this cell never resets, and then seems to make the conclusion that storage is Safe because of this. Yes, it's true that this cell doesn't reset, but it seems to go through a light version of resetting. I'm sure we've all noticed that multi-zone dungeons go through a light-duty reset when you re-enter a priviously visited zone: ie, torch sconces that have been emptied will have torches re-installed, sprung bear traps will be reset, and some of the sacks and barrels which were cleaned out will contain items again. Broken Oar Grotto behaves in exactly this manner. I did the the kill-the-bandit-leader quest for Solitude's Ahtar, in which Captain Hargar needed to be dealt with. I thoroughly cleaned the place out at the time. Later, I returned during the Lights Out! quest, and found that all the torches had respawned, and 12 sacks and 4 barrels contained items again.

In view of this, I think the claim for safe storage in Broken Oar Grotto isn't just misleading, but is downright false and could have unfortunate consequences for anyone who might use it as free accommodation. Sooner or later someone will lose some unique piece of loot or somesuch.Evil-i (talk) 21:10, 17 September 2012 (GMT)

For reasons that have gone unexplained, someone has seen fit to delete this entry since I put it up. I think it's a valid point: Storage is either "Safe" or "Unsafe". My experience, as explained above, shows that Storage in Broken Oar Grotto shouldn't be considered "Safe". Some Sacks and Barrels respawn.Evil-i (talk) 20:17, 24 September 2012 (GMT)
It must have been a caching issue that caused the post to disappear; I can't see it being removed anywhere in the page history. I've marked this as a good question, since it seems we don't quite fully understand dungeon respawning yet. If someone is willing to test this, a lot of pages may need editing. —Legoless (talk) 23:12, 9 November 2012 (GMT)
Thanks for following up. I agree, this could be very important when it comes to having an accurate and useful Wiki. For what it's worth, the only dungeon I know of that doesn't go through a "soft reset", and where all storage can be considered "Safe", is the Helgen Keep interior. I did some testing on this area, and it seems like every type of container, including bodies, sacks and barrels are completely inert, at least on 360. In my general gameplay, it strikes me that all other interior dungeon areas are prone to this soft reset issue. At this point, I can't say if it affects specific sacks and barrels, or if the number and map location of these resetting containers is under the influence of some built-in random factor.Evil-i (talk) 23:31, 9 November 2012 (GMT)
Helgen Keep isn't fully safe. Most of its containers are but there are a few that respawn. The only one I've found that's fully safe is Cracked Tusk Keep. I haven't tested Broken Oar yet. --Morrolan (talk) 19:02, 27 March 2013 (GMT)
I just returned here to get the moon amulet, having already cleared the place during the TG quest long ago. I can confirm that although everyone was still dead (most bodies were gone although a few remained), the chests and barrels (every container I checked) had all reset and had new loot in them. I'd say storage is definitely NOT safe. 87.65.134.243 00:20, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

The fourth chest[edit]

The fourth chest in the note on under water chests could use a bit more direction. I spent some time looking for the second because the first has a skeleton and so does a rock between them that I circled wondering if the chest was hidden in the floor. But the one directly underneath the captain's quarters hidden in the supports took much longer to figure out. I didn't think it would be inside of the supports, as few treasures are hidden in such a place for good reason. The article could note that jumping off the ship half with the dining table on the side that faces the cliff with the forge area and then examining the supports between the ship half and said cliff will reveal the chest. Or something just as accurate and more compact.--Playerseekingbugs (talk) 06:36, 2 December 2012 (GMT)

Toilet[edit]

There is room with table, hole and bucket in that hole. It looks like some kind of the toilet. — Unsigned comment by 62.141.205.102 (talk) at 13:30 on 22 August 2013 (GMT)
