Unbound Dremora Griefing[edit]

I have completed this quest a few weeks ago.

A dragon attacked the College today. During the fight I could hear the Unbound Dremora shouting its battle challenges at the dragon, and upon the dragon's defeat, he meandered down to gawk with the other college members. After a few minutes, instead of heading back up to the ritual circle, he instead stood under one of the arches just inside the main gate.

This was amusing and all, until he spotted Ancano. Apparently the Thalmor are not on good terms with Dremora, as the Dremora immediately initiated combat with him. At this time in my game, Ancano was thankfully essential, but I have a feeling he eventually won't be. Not only that, but Ancano has a tendency to run across the bridge and bring the Guards (and your horse, if he fast-traveled with you) into the fray.

Long story short, if your game save happens to have a persistent unkillable Unbound Dremora lurking above the Hall of Attainment, do not engage dragons at the college. Or if you do, make sure the dragon perishes upon the battlements, and not down in the courtyard. — Unsigned comment by 24.247.177.201 (talk) at 03:48 on 6 January 2012

For one character of mine the Unbound Dremora didn't disappear: I used "disable" command on the Unbound Dremora after I finished the quest to prevent any grief. The ID was ff001410 for me, even though I believe IDs starting in ff are landscape/buildings/etc. Anubis Priest 23:06, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
So he's supposed to be killable when he gives you the sigil stone? I tried the quest twice from the beginning, and both times he was something similar to 'god moded' when he was summoned the fourth time. Is there any way to avoid this? Was it because I waited between summons for 1 hour to make autosaves? And every time I used an actual save I made before the third summon of the first time I did this quest, he showed up 'god moded' on the fourth one and stood there spouting his last line of dialogue over and over. I couldn't even try pickpocketing him. Should he disappear after 10 days or so if I stay away?--Playerseekingbugs 06:48, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

Paralyze Issues[edit]

Twice I have accidentally killed the dremora for good by defeating him while he was paralyzed. One character with a paralyze spell, one with an enchanted weapon. He turned into a lootable corpse and it was impossible to resummon him after this. A simple reload fixes it but I recommend not using paralyze while fighting him. This quest conflicts with the one for the Staff of Magnus[edit]

I've obtained the Sigil Stone, but when I try to talk to Phinis, he keeps saying "can you imagine the kind of power behind this". This is because the Staff of Magnus' quest is active. — Unsigned comment by 87.10.24.150 (talk) at 18:34 on 30 April 2012 (GMT)

Good find, I guess the solution is to complete the staff of magnus quest. I'll add a note to the article. RIM 19:32, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

Might have a solution for Unbound Dremora roving around permanently.[edit]

Simply using "setstage mgritual03 70" in console will advance you to the part after the dremora gives you the sigil stone, even putting the stone in your inventory, with no need to summon him. However, I am not sure if this will have a negative impact on the game yet. Can anyone who has done this and played for a fair while afterwards verify that this is a valid stopgap measure till this gets properly fixed? --76.170.170.58 11:37, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
