Chances of dragon attacks

As there seems to be very varying chances of random dragon encounters depending on where you are and where you fasttravel to, I miss a table or listing of what the chances for a random dragon encounter are for given places. I have personally never through some 600 playing hours, mainly on pc, encountered dragons in Whiterun, Markarth or Riften (though my wife has encountered a dragon once in Riften on the PS3), but I dread to fasttravel to places like the Windhelm Stables, Dawnstar and Kynesgrove, as there are so frequent dragon encounters there I nearly can count on it rather than be surprised. —MortenOSlash 11:07, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

Passing 900 hours without dragons in Whiterun, Markarth or Riften for me. —MortenOSlash (talk) 20:21, 5 November 2012 (GMT)
I've had at least one dragon encounter in Riften, but can't remember any from Whiterun or Markarth at the moment...eshetalk 20:22, 5 November 2012 (GMT)
How could the variations in dragon attack frequency be read? And should it not have been recorded in entries somewhere on the UESP Skyrim pages? —MortenOSlash (talk) 20:51, 5 November 2012 (GMT)
I've experienced two attacks in Whiterun, none in Markarth, and dozens just outside Riften at the stables. I don't spend much time in cities, but these encounters happened when manually changing zones (i.e. no fast travel). This is the random encounter entry for dragon attacks on habitations, if it helps. I've had two encounters in Markarth, but none in Whiterun or Riften. — ABCface 21:36, 5 November 2012 (GMT)
So there is just a chance, though very low chance, that dragon attacks can occur in any walled city? —MortenOSlash (talk) 21:49, 5 November 2012 (GMT)
Yes, just for completeness I'll add that I have witnessed attacks in Solitude and Windhelm. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 21:53, 5 November 2012 (GMT)
So Whiterun is the only walled city no-one has encountered a dragon attack so far? —MortenOSlash (talk) 22:07, 5 November 2012 (GMT)

() I had a dragon attack in Whiterun, so it's definitely possible - just very rare. --Krusty (talk) 22:08, 5 November 2012 (GMT)

Re-read my first post, two attacks in Whiterun. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 22:11, 5 November 2012 (GMT)
Sorry, Silencer. I seem to have been a little unfocused.
So my feeling of an emerging pattern after having played just so many hours only having had some few dragon attacks in Windhelm and Solitude and none in the other walled cities was a false notion then. So human to seek patterns even where they are not. —MortenOSlash (talk) 23:10, 5 November 2012 (GMT)

Legendary Dragons taunting player

When I first encountered a randomly spawning Legendary dragon it seemed to yell something before attacking, similar to Alduin during the final fight, but I couldn't make out what it was saying. Has anyone else noticed this? — Unsigned comment by 23.16.10.141 (talk) at 03:28 on 24 July 2012

They yell skuldafn fen kos dinok it means skuldafn will be your death. — Unsigned comment by 173.170.188.58 (talk) at 22:55 on 30 October 2012
That would make sense if I had been at that point in the story. I had finished the main story at level 47 and this Legendary started yelling at level 81. No other dragons had ever yelled at me, other than Legendaries. — Unsigned comment by 75.157.14.106 (talk) at 05:04 on 5 December 2012 (GMT)
I confirm this, I fought one legendary dragon that say something like "I honor myself by destroying you, dovahkin." or something, it's too fast that I can't see the whole sentence. — Unsigned comment by Jo Zhen (talkcontribs) at 16:55 on 9 December 2012 (GMT)

Number of scales/bones as loot

* 1-3 Dragon Bones (mean 2.5)

** 25% chance of getting 1 and 75% chance of getting 3

Does this CSList entry translate as a 25% chance of 1 and a 75% chance of 3? It seems to, but I'm not sure. --XyzzyTalk 02:33, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

From my understanding of CSList, I believe it's a 100% chance of getting the 1st one (Chancenone=0). For the next 2, its a 75% chance of getting 1 each (Chancenone=25). So, you will always get 1, a 75% chance of getting 2, and a 56.25% chance (is my math right?) of getting 3. ~ Psylocke 02:39, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
Been playing over 1k hours, and i've NEVER gotten 2 bones or scales. None of my friends that have played have ever gotten 2 either. It's always been either 1, or 3. Are you sure you can get just 2? VycDarkshadow (talk) 17:37, 14 October 2012 (GMT)
My interpretation of the CSList entry is a 100% chance of 1 bone & scale, plus a 75% chance of getting 2 more. So, yes, this would mean you get either 1 or 3 of each. --Xyzzy Talk 17:52, 14 October 2012 (GMT)
Well, I've never gotten 2 bones or scales ingame. Experimenting a bit with the CK (the "preview calculated results" on leveled lists is nifty) didn't turn up 2 either (41 times 3, 9 times 1). So it seems the game engine just multiplies the outcome of sub-lists. --Alfwyn (talk) 18:18, 14 October 2012 (GMT)
The leveled item article on the CK wiki sheds a bit more light on this. If the "Calculate for each item in count" bit in DragonBones75 would have been set, the chance would have been calculated individually for each. But as it is, the outcome is just multiplied by two in this case. --Alfwyn (talk) 19:47, 14 October 2012 (GMT)
That's what i had thought. It looked like you could get 2, from the description given, but i had never heard of such a thing happening. VycDarkshadow (talk) 14:06, 15 October 2012 (GMT)

Dragons immune to paralysis?

The Dragon Race entry on CSList has an entry for a keyword for ImmuneParalysis that seems to indicate that all dragons (assuming all dragons are members of the Dragon Race) are immune to paralysis. Am I reading this correctly? If so, this should probably be included in the article. --XyzzyTalk 04:17, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

I took this off becuase..

I took this off of the notes section.

  • With the upcoming DLC Dragonborn, you will be able to ride dragons.

From EVERYTHING I have read on solsthiem, this is a rumor and not actualy confirmed one way or another. Not saying this is wrong, but you ride a dragon on the main quest. It mayu be exactly the same, we do not know yet. — Unsigned comment by 96.226.117.129 (talk) at 00:36 on 20 November 2012

Suppose you've got a point there, but it's easier to just say that in the edit summary when you remove info. Perhaps you forgot, or accidentally clicked save too early etc., but I'm just making sure here. Anyway, thanks for your input. ~ Dwarfmp (talk) 00:47, 20 November 2012 (GMT)
I dont know exactly what you mean. What do you mean say it in the edit summary? ?I simply copyed it then deleted it to move here, and stating the reason i did so. I clicked save on perpose.
I need to go back to elementry school, check out my horrible grammar and spelling ).) — Unsigned comment by 96.226.117.129 (talk) at 01:25 on 20 November 2012‎
Edit summaries are for explaining the changes you have made in an edit to a particular page. You don't have to post on the talk page when you edit unless your edit may be controversial or the reasons for changing the page are too long to describe in an edit summary. People tend to be suspicious of it when editors remove content without an edit summary, but it's no big deal. Just something to keep in mind for the future. — ABCface 01:30, 20 November 2012 (GMT)
Alright thanks, I was unaware of that. I have made several minor edits here and there. Differents comps forget to sign in. That type stuff. Will keep it in mind in future ediits. — Unsigned comment by 96.226.117.129 (talk) at 01:47 on 20 November 2012‎

Appearance of ancient dragons

The page says that Ancient Dragons begin to appear around level 45, but I just encountered one at level 32. I'm playing the 360 version. Has anyone else run noticed this, or just me? — Unsigned comment by Silentsentinel (talkcontribs) at 01:39 on 30 November 2012‎

Skyrim uses "leveled lists" for random encounters with various enemies, some of which are simple and some more complex. The leveled list for random dragon spawns can be found here, though it has been changed by the Dawnguard DLC (if you have it installed). If you want to check the updated list that applies to players with Dawnguard, you'd look at this list instead (though nothing changed for the encounters before level 59, at which point Revered & Legendary dragons are added to the list).
In any case, the list does verify that for random dragon spawns, the encounter level for Ancient dragons is 45. One important thing to remember is that certain locations may have different lists being used, so it may be possible to encounter certain levels earlier or later than you would expect based on that list. That list for random dragon spawns is what's used most often though, as other encounters are generally exceptions to the rule related to specific places or quests. — ABCface 03:24, 30 November 2012 (GMT)

Questionable claim on Red Dragons

This article states "Red Dragons are considered to be the strongest type of dragons". That appears to be a completely random statement with no sources whatsoever. I don't claim to be the most knowledgeable game-play person around by any means, but Odahviing isn't even the strongest Dragon in the game to my knowledge, especially now that Revered and Legendary Dragons have been added, so the comment makes little sense. I believe Ancient Dragons and higher level variations of Alduin were always stronger than him, too. - --Pilaf The Defiler (talk) 21:52, 30 November 2012 (GMT)

Odahviing is leveled and can potentially be as powerful as an Ancient Dragon. At highest level, Alduin's breaths are equal to Ancient Dragon's. So yes, without Dawnguard, Odahviing can be considered the strongest type of dragon.117.5.17.195 15:06, 4 December 2012 (GMT)
This is also simply taking from lore that Red Dragons are the strongest. Maybe Ohdaviing is extremely weak for a Red. — Unsigned comment by 75.157.14.106 (talk) at 04:58 on 5 December 2012 (GMT)

Dragonborn DLC - Miraak stealing souls

As I was doing the Dragonborn DLC storyline, of course after meeting Miraak for the first time, I returned to Skyrim and fought a Legendary Dragon. When it died and the soul started to be absorbed, I heard Miraak speaking "Do you ever wonder if it hurts? Having your soul sucked out like that." and then a message appeared in the top-left of the screen saying "Miraak has absorbed the dragon's soul!" and Miraak said "One step closer to my return." — Unsigned comment by 75.157.14.106 (talk) at 19:31 on 4 December 2012 (GMT)

New Dragons - Dragonborn DLC

Whilst playing Dragonborn I noticed a dragon called a "Serpentine Dragon" it had a smooth snakelike head and was a dark pale blue color. Has anyone else seen any new types of dragons? — Unsigned comment by 75.157.14.106 (talk) at 22:25 on 4 December 2012 (GMT)

New Dragon Rider Achievement

Can someone please add the dragon rider achievement from the Dragonborn DLC to this page? I tried to do it myself but couldn't figure out how... — Unsigned comment by BlackhawkXIII (talkcontribs) at 06:40 on 12 December 2012 (GMT)
