Essential Status[edit]

Possible bug - Durak may not always be essential. I was able to kill Durak immediately after he first contacted me and started the Dawnguard questline. His dead body was later found laying in the small camp outside Fort Dawnguard. 24.209.227.45 04:17, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

He's not listed as essential anymore; it's not a bug, but wasn't correct to begin with according to game-data. ABCface 14:52, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Full Set of Dawnguard Armor?[edit]

Durak's set of armor is not full, it's lacking the helmet. --38.108.87.99 21:34, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Unique armor?[edit]

Is his armor really unique? I bought a set of armor from Gunmar and it looks either incredibly similar or exactly the same. AzureKing 23:22, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

It does not appear to be unique. I’m going to remove the note for now. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 23:25, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

He died during the seige of Castle Vampire[edit]

I call it Castle Vampire because I can neither spell or pronounce it's actual name right now. Anyhow the fact he died during the seige suggests that not everyone in Dawnguard is essential. It's ok with me since that Orc was a jerk to my altmer character.--50.135.172.120 07:03, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

Picture[edit]

Why do we have a picture of Durak in Whiterun?Shouldn't the screen shot be of him in Fort Dawnguard?--Skyrimplayer 03:24, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Thats just where he was when I got the image. It will be replaced anyway once dawnguard gets released for PC. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 03:28, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
OK.It's a pretty nice picture though.--Skyrimplayer 15:07, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Name's meaning[edit]

Is there a particular reason the Bethesda team decided to name him the Russian word for "fool?" Or is it just a coincidence? — Unsigned comment by 98.167.202.158 (talk) at 12:48 on 4 August 2012 (UTC)

It's most likely a coincidence. Many words and names share a double meaning in another language, so this kind of thing is bound to come up. Regardless, a surprising number of characters have names like this. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 12:48, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

Innate hostility?[edit]

So I was walking into Fort Dawnguard and as I walked in, Durak and some other guy both were immediately hostile towards me. Agmaer didn't break form this trend either. I'm not going to kill them, but why are they pissed at me? --RavageDionne 02:02, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Two possible reasons I can think of are that you are a vampire or you have a bounty in the Rift. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 02:19, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
Alternately, he (and everyone else in the dawnguard) will sometimes attack you if you have a bounty with the crime faction of the hold Durak happens to be in when he shows up to tell you about joining the dawnguard (since as a world-encounter, there's a script that temporarily assigns him to the local crime faction). And just for an extra kick in the head, very rarely, the whole of the dawnguard can sometimes go hostile to you if one of the "hidden" crime factions, like the imperials or the stormcloaks, has a bounty on you. Murder an imperial soldier and another soldier sees it? All imperial soldiers hate you - hidden crime faction. Since these factions can't be paid/cleared without console commands, if it happens, boom, you're basically done with the dawnguard questline. Well, you can use pacify on Isran and at least get the "Dimhollow" part started and join the vampires, but hey. 174.28.50.70 03:08, 14 April 2024 (UTC)

Durak Stuck!!![edit]

Durak is stuck outside of my whiterun home. He has already told me of the dawnguard but I just don't want it to be like that for the rest of the game... — Unsigned comment by 184.12.71.164 (talk) at 05:32 on 23 January 2013

Have you gone to do the first quest yet? He usually shows up at Dayspring Canyon when you first discover it, so simply going there may fix the problem. — ABCface 05:58, 23 January 2013 (GMT)

Offspring of the Grey Prince?[edit]

I noticed Durak had a pretty unique physique for an Orc. Greyish skin, fair looking skin, etc. Could he be a great grand-son of the Grey Prince, you know, the one from Oblivion? Or that he is at least himself a half-blood, either human-orc or vampire-orc? — Unsigned comment by 94.214.182.214 (talk) at 20:56 on 27 February 2013 (GMT)

I believe his pale skin is just to indicate his age. — Unsigned comment by 96.19.187.21 (talk) at 00:55 on 1 May 2013 (GMT)

Durak endlessly respawning[edit]

"I've encountered a weird issue that I've never had before. Durak, the Orc who approaches you about joining the Dawnguard, is simply broken. He walks in place, or rather, he takes a few steps forward and is then teleported back to his starting position, this does not stop. Trying to talk to him results in him saying a line, then getting teleported back to where he was when he started walking, which breaks the conversation. In short, I can't talk to him.

Now, there are other ways to learn abot the Dawnguard, such as comments made by Hold Guards. Thing is, if this is going to be a problem with the rest of the Dawnguard, it'll be unplayable. Are there any known mod conflicts or bugs that could cause this? I'm at my wits end trying to fix this, I haven't had this problem at any time and all of the mods I have that affect the Dawnguard have worked flawlessly on my last playthrough." - this is someone else's testimony on the bug, it was posted on dec 2012 and now after 6 months it happens in my game. apparently if you manage timing your activating him and say you'll join there's no more issues. though it would be nice to know the cause. — Unsigned comment by 50.93.45.177 (talk) at 08:10 on 6 June 2013

There is not much else to say than it is a bug. As long as it is rare it is difficult to reproduce, and as such difficult to identify more specific. It might on one hand be a rare bug related to a mod and it might on the other be a rare bug related to the Dawnguard add-on. It might even be something else. In short, it would be nice to know, but there is not much else to do until someone finds a solution. —MortenOSlash (talk) 08:30, 11 June 2013 (GMT)
I had this bug with him too. Fixed easily by entering "tscr" into console, watching him unstuck, and then entering "tscr" again. - Alastor 20:53, 20 June 2013 (GMT)

encountered same problem, once the dawnguard quest was accepted after talking to him a few times and appeared on screen he stopped teleporting back.

Strongholds[edit]

Durak will put in a good word for you with the Orc Strongholds. I seem to recall him doing this after Prophet. --Magskall (talk) 03:56, 29 October 2013 (GMT)
