Merge proposal[edit]

Should Erik be merged with Erik the Slayer?

Two Handed & light armor?[edit]

Is this really what he is set for? His default armor is Heavy (Iron), he carries a shield, and when I give him a choice of weapons he uses war axes (one handed) over other higher damage weapons. I'm an xbox user so can't check meself and don't want to step on toes if that is correct. --LosTheFail 02:46, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Yes it's correct, his 2h and la skill are the only ones that max (PC version). 75.93.14.165 06:09, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
I'm level 59. In my game his marksman and block are in the migd to high 70's. but his heavy armor and one handed are in the low 40's. I'll check his light armor and 2H. ForsakenOne 18:09, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
light armor 100 and two handed 100 plus blocking 78. yep, That's what Erik the Slayer is set for. Though I still made him wear legendary steel plate with a skyforge steel war axe and ebony shield. just seems more... knightly, which was what i was going for. that iron armor and weaponry was just... underwhelming. I know it seems like a weird combination, but he's technically supposed to be a Barbarian, that is, picture Conan with a ginormous sword and fur loincloth leaping on top of an evil mage and gutting him in one hit. --68.74.28.21 00:22, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Dialogue / comments[edit]

He is a lot more informative than Lydia, and I was wondering if that was because he is a native farmer?

Aside form comments about not missing farming, how his new armor suits him, and how being and adventurer was a good decision he also says a few other things about the surroundings: 1. In Redbelly Mine: He can't believe people really work like that (pertaining to the horrid conditions) 2. In Robber's Gorge: He mentions his hatreds for bandits and thieves, as they raid his town every year. 3. When in a forsworn camp: He says the forsworn are a strange people, they want freedom but they live like savagesForsakenOne 18:09, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

"Later Date"[edit]

Well, I cleared about twenty quests and the slept for ten days straight, and he still hasn't made his transformation. I'd like to get him in the Blades before I run Seasons Unending. Any ideas for expediting the process? --Theothersteve7 04:20, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Found it on that other wiki. Shouldn't take much time at all. Posted a solution on the page. --Theothersteve7 04:30, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Marriage[edit]

Any idea what may influence the Radiant AI system to flag him as un-marryable? I'm on a platform so I can't use console commands to override the status. I've had him be oblivious to my advances on 2 characters now and I even reloaded an older save to see if I could have married him at an earlier level. So far, no go. Trying the "persuade" option on his dad instead of the "here's cash for your son's armor" option, no go. --68.74.28.21 00:25, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Neither Erik nor HirelingErikTheSlayer (both versions of him) are in PotentialMarriageFaction at all. He wasn't in it in vanilla Skyrim and he isn't in it as of patch 1.5. So he's just not marryable. I don't actually know if anyone's been able to marry him without commands. I see nothing indicating that he would be marryable in the first place. His voice type is MaleYoungEager, which he shares with no other marryable NPCs, and the Creation Kit wiki says that only a few types are used (though it doesn't list them). I can't find a marriage dialogue in the use info for the voice. Nor is it in the list VoicesMarriageAll. Unless someone's found a way to marry him without commands, I don't know why people think he's marryable to begin with. Vely►Talk►Email 01:34, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
His related quests include "The Bonds of Matrimony". Since he (apparently) is not eligible for marriage, should this be removed? --Xyzzy 05:47, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
Nevermind. I just removed him. --Xyzzy 05:56, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
Erik is marryable, albeit it with console intervention. He shares voice type MaleYoungEager with Onmund, who is marryable. Given how many people are seeking to marry him (judging from the volume of commentary on the subject on the web), I added a note describing how it can be achieved for the benefit of those who want to avail themselves of it. People think he's marryable because the list on the marriage section includes him.
It DOES work. I'm married to him as we speak.Elcid89 06:48, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
I just removed your note. While I don't doubt that it's true, it's possible to do basically anything with the console, so we tend not to include notes such as this on pages. Kitkat TalkContribE-mail 07:03, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
I noticed. I can't imagine why helpful information is unwelcome, but so be it. People come here seeking answers to questions, and adopting some "only the answers we deem acceptable in the context of game purity" position might not be how best to serve their needs, but I'm not getting into some flame war over it. Elcid89 07:16, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

() Well, basically any in-game character can be added to the PotentialMarriage faction, making them a candidate for marriage. This isn't specific to Erik, so it doesn't really belong on his page. Kitkat TalkContribE-mail 07:29, 25 May 2012 (UTC).

Elcid, since that can happen to just about anyone and is something a lot of people would want, the note is located on this page. Vely►Talk►Email 14:50, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

Erik vanishing?[edit]

I hired Erik just once. After a few quests, I dismissed him from Whiterun, Jorrvaskr to be specific. He said he's heading back home if I need him (Rorikstead), and I never saw him again. It's been almost 30lvs since this happened, so sleeping it off doesn't seem to help him if he's a slow walker. I tried looking for him in the Whiterun Hold, and the road connecting Whiterun & Rorikstead, but never found him or a corpse. He left armed with my gear, so he should have been able to defend himself on his way to Rorikstead. Anyone had this happen?? — Unsigned comment by 69.209.202.105 (talk) at 21:52 on 23 September 2012

Name?[edit]

Should the page be titled "Erik" or "Erik the Slayer"? LoveWaffle (talk) 18:45, 11 November 2012 (GMT)

Possible glitch?[edit]

I hit a possible glitch with Erik. After hiring him I decided to get him the equipment that compliments his skills. After giving him a greatsword he equiped it like a normal sword, I just rehired him after a few quests and he's still wearing the greatsword incorrectly. I don't know if anyone else has hit this, but I decided to mention it here so people can try to replicate it.

For exact details, I was in Whiterun outside Warmaidens where I made the Nordic Sword (from the Dragonborn DLC, and yes I'm on the Xbox 360) — Unsigned comment by 124.150.67.99 (talk) at 07:14 on 20 December 2012‎

The Nordic Greatsword has that problem with all NPCs due to a problem with the 3rd person mesh. --Blackpete (talk) 06:02, 12 January 2014 (GMT)
