Etymology Note[edit]

"Honning" is the norwegian word for "honey" (which makes sense - sinse they make mead, "honey brew"). Does this constitute trivia that should be included in the article? — Unsigned comment by 37.191.134.217 (talk) at 15:35 on 15 June 2012

It would go under the Notes section. We only allow obvious etymologies, and this one looks pretty obvious, so I'll add it. Thanks for mentioning it! Vely►Talk►Email 16:30, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

Shadowmark[edit]

I just realised that the shadowmark to the left side of the main door is actually a "Fence" shadowmark for me. I'm not sure if the "Fence" shadowmark has been there from the start of the game, since I was still new to the game when I discovered Honningbrew Meadery and don't know about Shadowmarks back then. My guess is that after completing the Thieves' Guild improvement quest for Whiterun, a "Fence" shadowmark will replace the "Loot" shadowmark (since Mallus is the fence)?? Anyone else can confirm this?? --Psylocke 15:08, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

Okay so... I was bored and decided to verify this myself, and yielded some results. Luckily it didn't take much time or effort. Used one of my alt chars. I noted there's a 'Loot' shadowmark at the meadery before proceeding. All I did was simply join the Thieves' Guild, rush through the 'jobs' and questline. What I found out:- its not the Whiterun reputation quest that changed the shadowmark but actually the Dampened Spirits quest (4th quest in questline I think). Upon completing Dampened Spirits, Mallus became a fence, and a 'Fence' shadowmark appeared to the left of the meadery's door - it's above the 'Loot' shadowmark (which will no longer be there). Also (don't know if its worth mentioning), something interesting which I didn't notice in my main's playthru is that the wooden signs outside the meadery are replaced with 'Black-Briar Meadery' signs. I'll upload a screenshot showing the sign and shadowmark if possible. So with that said, is the shadowmark replacement significant? Should I do some minor tweaks to the meadery page and the shadowmarks part on the Guild's page?? --Psylocke 04:02, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Honningbrew Mead after Dampened Spirits[edit]

It should be noted that two barrels outside the boilery continue to respawn Honningbrew Mead after the quest. Furthermore, one of the barrels inside the meadery (first floor, through the first door, right-of-center standing upright among others) will read as either a Honningbrew Mead barrel or a Black-Briar Mead Barrel, depending on where one places the cursor, and will contain both types, though it has to be emptied separately.--149.160.118.51 23:51, 9 October 2013 (GMT)
