Reset?[edit]

This has been marked as a question that needs to be answered.

Is there any way to reset Japhet's Folly to it's original state before the attack?

Like a console command or a a bat file? Would appreciate your help ...

Awesome Arrows[edit]

"The explosions bombarding the tower are invisible arrows with no name; you can collect these by getting hit, to use them you must use your last arrow, and they will become equipped."
Is it possible to use console commands to give us more of these arrows? — Unsigned comment by 94dgrif (talkcontribs) at 03:19 on 4 August 2012

Exploding Arrows[edit]

I would like to know how its possible to be hit with these arrows? Im doing the quest now (on xbox) and there are only three or four places where the arrows strike the ground, and each time they appear to be scripted to hit just before you get there. After the scripted arrow stikes the ground no more fall in that spot (so assuming you could somehow actually get to the spot where they strike before they hit, thats still only like three or four possible arrows). Ive memoriezed all of the spots where arrows hit and even if I sprint right for those spots as soon as I come through the door I still cannot reach them in time to actually be hit. 71.181.70.79 00:45, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Entering after battle via sea cave[edit]

I've the 1.7 patch and when I return to the towers via the sea cave the door back to the sea cave is replaced by a wall, and of course the upper passage is blocked, so I am trapped. In my experience this bug/oversight/design choice remains the same. — Unsigned comment by 124.148.213.40 (talk) at 01:12 on September 5, 2012

I recently did this quest again (after installing Dawnguard, but before Hearthfire) and found the same thing. Thanks for confirming your experience, I just removed the note about this being fixed from the page. — ABCface 09:14, 7 September 2012 (EDT)
Left Lydia in the sea cave before despatching all the Blood Horkers. Lydia would not respond to the prid command, so re-entered the sea-cave before speaking to Adelaisa. Japhet's Folly tower was blocked. Exited the cave with Lydia with no problems. But- there was excessive banging and screen shaking outside (bomb effects gone haywire?), no problem once back in Windhelm.--Lmstearn (talk) 14:03, 21 January 2014 (GMT)

Japhet's Folly - Verification Needed[edit]

From the patch notes for 1.9:

Fixed instance where player could get stuck in Japhet’s Folly.

This was implemented by disabling the map marker for the location so it is impossible to fast travel back to it. Arthmoor (talk) 09:00, 10 April 2013 (GMT)

I can confirm that Japhet's Folly is no longer discoverable as of 1.9. Not sure if the patch removed already-existing markers in old save files or not, but I definitely don't have one there after finishing the related quest. Shashakiro (talk) 05:48, 26 August 2014 (GMT)

Front entrance[edit]

I didn't realize that you had to go through the sea cave to get in to the towers and so I went through the frontal entrance. I jumped over the fence and killed everyone and then decided try and pick the lock of the gate which was master. I did and then I went to the front entrance of the towers the one that you should need a key for but instead it allowed me to pick the lock which was also a master lock so I picked it and got inside. I was wondering is this a weird bug that occurred for me or has anyone else had this happen. — Unsigned comment by Danielman108 (talkcontribs) at 15:19 on 25 January 2015

Access[edit]

Can you reach Japhet's Folly after the quest? If yes, how? --212.186.7.98 09:08, 15 April 2018 (UTC)

Except through console commands, I'm confident that the answer is no. The area is in its own space and the only way to get there is through talking to Adelaisa Vendicci, who doesn't offer that dialogue option again. Fortunately, there isn't a whole lot worth taking from this location and nothing unique. —Dillonn241 (talk) 13:36, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
Japhet's journal is unique afaik, but not really worth much unless you're trying to collect all the books and journals. Patata (talk) 15:38, 9 February 2019 (UTC)
Yes, you're right. I think when I wrote this post I meant nothing unique and valuable. If you're going for 100% completion, you'll want to pick that up. —Dillonn241 (talk) 20:33, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

Poss in need of a rewrite as lock not pickable from inside[edit]

Not sure if the exterior portion should be re-ordered to show the area's pre-bombardement state earlier/separately with note that needs visiting before entering sea cave? and then just bombardment state after killing Haldyn? Thoughts?? Biffa (talk) 17:36, 9 April 2019 (UTC)

Walking to Japhet's Folly[edit]

Can you walk to Japhet's Folly directly? Like you don't have to use the boat to reach Volkihar Castle but can swim instead, can you reach Japhet's Folly thus too? 212.186.15.63 18:02, 27 April 2020 (GMT)

No. Japhet's Folly has invisible boundires surrounding it, preventing your return. If you don't have patch 1.9, you can fast travel back, but you will get stuck. If you do have patch 1.9, it is impossible to get back save for console commands. — Unsigned comment by Werewolfvampirre (talkcontribs) at 02:35 on 28 April 2020 (UTC)
