Dragonbone weapons[edit]

The dragonbone weapons apparently don't drop if you go there at too low a level for them to appear in the random lists. In that case all you get is the black soul gems, or so was my experience over the weekend with a level 34 character. Anyone else have confirmation? QuillanTalk 13:23, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

At level 45 (I think) they will drop a Dragonbone Mace. Vely►t►e 13:54, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
I have also had them drop only a Black Soul gem on one of my characters. Is that level 45 only for the one with the mace? what about the one with the bow and the one with the axe? — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 13:57, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
Hmmm... I'm not sure what to make out of the info from CSList. This is for the Keeper with shield and mace, the one with a bow, and the one with a battelaxe. Maybe someone can look into that.
Umm, one more thing.. I just realised that the article has only one NPC summary for the mace guy. Maybe two more NPC placeholders can be created for the other two BaseIDs? ~ Psylocke 14:13, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
Kimi, I'd assume they're all the same. Both characters I'd previously taken through the Soul Cairn were much higher level (one high 50s, one low 70s) and all three dropped dragonbone weapons. This time, I was using a new character just to see how the DLC interacted with an uncompleted main quest and only got the black soul gems. I felt a bit short-changed. :) QuillanTalk 21:11, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
A user in a related discussion theorized that you may only get that equipment if you have the dragon armor perk, and I think that's worth looking into. Also, I will look into adding the data for the other Keepers later, since no one ever did. — ABCface 18:46, 5 January 2013 (GMT)
My character has the dragon armor perk -- both she and Serana are wearing full Dragonscale armor that she made -- and at level 42, none of the Keepers dropped any weapon, only the black soul gem. 174.6.51.17 20:20, 23 February 2014 (GMT)

Levels Matter[edit]

Ok, my character build is to remain a Level 1 the entire time. Makes the game more realistic and everything super rare.

Anyway, I went to the keepers to loot the best un-enchanted weapons in the game. Sadly they did not drop, no matter how much I tried. From disarming, poising, to Ice Form, just waiting for the split second to loot "keeper"; nothing. Reading some blogs about levels, I leveled myself up to see if it mattered right before I was about to fight them. Now being level "48", it turns out they do have the weapons in the "ghostly remains". The keepers never "drop" the weapons, they disintegrate with them. If the weapon you are after is not in the "ghostly remains", you are not at a high enough level for the script.

I did not take the Dragon Armor smithing perk btw — Unsigned comment by 24.23.152.178 (talk) at 22:20 on 22 August 2015

Abnormally Strong[edit]

I suspect this is a one-off, but I'll post it here in case anyone else can confirm. After killing two of the Keepers, I went after the last one, which for me was the one in the northwest section of the map. For no apparent reason, this Keeper was insanely strong, damaging me for more than half the hit points I had on every single blow (so it wasn't just a lucky critical). I blew through almost every healing potion I had, but despite my best efforts, I died when it hit for even more damage than it had previously been doing. Upon reloading, however, despite the save being in mid-combat, the Keeper went back to being normal strength and I was able to kill it easily without using a single potion. The only thing abnormal that I can think of is that I had just swapped in and out of the game a couple of times. Robin Hood  (talk) 07:12, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
