Bug[edit]

"XBOX 360 & PS3: Game may not allow you to learn shout at Kilkreath Ruins" --I have this bug on the PC version as well, about to try the prescription.**Edit** I had quicksaved at the location while trying to learn the shout(the letters weren't glowing but the rest of the effects were happening), then quit the game (to come here to look up bugs), upon restarting and loading that quicksave it let me learn the shout. 74.143.95.18 20:09, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Successfully learned the shout by following the given directions, but manually saving.--24.41.64.100 23:41, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
I fixed my glitch by loading the save of another character and then reloading the bugged one. — Unsigned comment by 60.230.226.226 (talk) at 13:15 on 22 December 2011
Quitting the game then loading didn't work for me. Doing the save-travel-restore sequence did work. Dr. Memory 07:12, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

1. Be near the wall and do a save. Any type of save should work.

2. Quit to the desktop (or console's base menu.)

3. Restart the game, being sure to re-load or resume with that save.

4. You should get the Thu'um and complete the quest.

This is because the cell re-sets, just as it does for merchant inventories and gold. Kalevala 18:51, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

Ebony armor lvl 12[edit]

I was doing th Break of Dawn quest when i found an ebony armor, and i'm only level 12, what's going on? — Unsigned comment by 178.156.93.137 (talk) at 15:39 on 4 August 2012

While it's normally very high level, it's possible that an unusually high-leveled creature had it and got killed there or something along those lines. There's also a pair of unleveled ebony boots at Narzulbur that are available right from the start of the game. Robin Hoodtalk 03:55, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
Also the Champion of Boethiah always has Ebony Mail with ebony boots, ebony gauntlets, and an ebony shield. That might have been where it came from. ABCface 04:00, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Location[edit]

Kilkreath Ruins need to be specified as a zone containing Statue to Meridia, Kilkreath Temple, Kilkreath Balcony, Kilkreath Ruins and Kilkreath Catacombs. It's hard to explain what needs to be done, as it require totally makeover of all the articles about Kilkreath / The Break Of Dawn. I consider it like: This dungeon does not have an article. Only the related quest and zone have. Unfortunately zone bear the same name as the dungeon, this is what have caused the incomplete articles. Regardless if it is a dungeon or not, there are article issues. I'm editing the first sentence away "Kilkreath Ruins is a dungeon beneath the Statue to Meridia" to something more fitting. Also in hopes it will be addressed by more than me. It is a zone and part of a dungeon that may carry the same name, but who's not distinguished from the zone nor granted the other sub-zones. — Unsigned comment by Ible (talkcontribs) at 12:26 on 20 November 2012

It needs what most places need, attention. I've thrown a temporary solution at the place by adding some of the quest walkthrough for each zone. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 12:44, 20 November 2012 (GMT)

Are the Kilkreath ruins confirmed to respawn?[edit]

Came back to the ruins after 60 in-game days. Chests did not respawn. Not certain about the corpses (gold) as I did not loot any. Switch for a door still in "opened position". Door to Kilkreath Catacombs is locked and requires a key. Activating pedestal did not unlock the door. The only thing that I am certain that respawned was the chest located on the Kilkreath Balcony, which contained excellent loot btw. — Unsigned comment by 142.163.248.246 (talk) at 18:11 on 27 December 2013‎

Confirm. Kilkreath Temple and ruins did not respawn. Tried on both PC and Xbox and nothing; been way over 30 days game time. --Beezer1029 (talk) 18:13, 24 April 2014 (GMT)

Front door stuck locked[edit]

I gave Meridia her beacon, fast travelled away, did some other quests, then came back a bit later. The Kilkreath ruins front door, where the quest arrow points me to, is locked. I don't see any information about this on either this page or the quest's page -- where is the preferred place for it? And has anyone else encountered this bug? -- Ben 50.131.243.230 07:51, 2 February 2014 (GMT)

Oh! There are three doors to the temple, two are locked, and the quest arrow points you at the wrong one. So it's not a problem with the doors, just with the quest arrow. Still, perhaps worth mentioning under "Notes"? -- Ben 50.131.243.230 07:54, 2 February 2014 (GMT)
Only if it pointed at the wrong door when you got the quest. Once you start moving around and doing other things the quest will look for the nearest entrance to the place. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 13:28, 2 February 2014 (GMT)

Removed strange thing about absent pressure plates[edit]

@ Zone 3: Kilkreath Catacombs there was a sentence, the last one, which I removed. There are no pressure plates in Kilkreath, at least not that many and thus there's no instruction with directions necessary. Don't know where this came from…
"Pressure Plates: One West, two North, two West ,one South, two West, three North, two West, two South, two West, two North. Then activate the chain."

Word wall stuck[edit]

Argh! How the catnip do you set the Kilkreath word wall as "I already got that, dammit!"? The greybeards have sent me here like six times. I got the word a month ago, but it still has the chanting and nearly faded glow-wind. I end the quest with the command, but I can't get rid of it. I can't find the location code like Arcwind Point. (pees on wall) STOPPIT! --68.200.189.30 02:09, 14 October 2014 (GMT)

Question answered. Go up to the wall, so the word fills your view, quicksave. Fast travel somewhere else. Injure a bystander. Immediately reload the save. Poof. (Not sure if 'injure bystander' is necessary or not; I did it because someone else on the Gamefaq's page I found here did. http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/615804-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/61038966?page=1 ) --68.200.189.30 11:03, 15 October 2014 (GMT)

Confirmed, this works, and without injuring a bystander. The word is on the bottom row, to the left of center, so focus your field of view there when saving. MindWanderer (talk) MindWanderer (talk) 15:54, 2 June 2021 (UTC)

Two Dawnbreakers[edit]

I found Dawnbreaker laying on the ground after the fight with Malkoran. Maybe I knocked it out of the pedestal with shouts during the fight? Completing the quest adds a second Dawnbreaker.

Skyrim-Places-Dragon Priest Lairs[edit]

Is there a reason this location is in the category Skyrim-Places-Dragon Priest Lairs? I don't see any mention of any dragon priest in the main page or talk page. 73.242.116.168 19:04, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
