Bug[edit]

Im experiencing an annoying bug with tullius: after taking the last stronghold and being promoted to legate, he has no dialoge option for me to "report for duty".

The quest pointer ist still over him and the "report to general tullius" is still in the log though. would really appreciate help if someone knows a workaround for this one. — Unsigned comment by 178.201.56.24 (talk) at 18:18 on 16 December 2011

Xbox360 Legate Fixes Unreliable[edit]

None of those fixes worked for me. They shouldn't be written down as foolproof. — Unsigned comment by 68.9.25.207 (talk) at 20:24 on 3 January 2012

Fort Sungard[edit]

Fort Sungard is, according to the rest of the wiki, only taken by Stormcloaks, not Imperials. If somebody could clear up this confusion, whether by removing Sungard from this page or adding Imperial interaction to the rest of the wiki, that would be great. --Velyanthe 23:38, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

PS3 Fix[edit]

When prompted with the Regain Eastmarch bug, just continue to the Windhelm gates (Windhelm didn't appear on my map, I had to fast travel to the stables) and there General Tullius will give his war speech. The mission marker will still be bugged until you make your way through the city, but just keep moving. You'll still complete the mission. Reys 03:47, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

Possible PS3 Fix[edit]

I accidentally hit dragonrend on her(legate) and then when I talked to her the "report for duty" option was there. Not sure if this was a coicidence or not but leaving this here for someone else to confirm. — Unsigned comment by 173.32.150.248 (talk) at 02:39 on 6 March 2012

I tried it but it didn't work for me :( (on PS3) I'm having the most difficult time with this particular quest. Nothing is working. But thanks for trying to help — Unsigned comment by 108.124.56.182 (talk) at 05:29 on 4 July 2012
Worked for me(on PS3), THANKS!!! — Unsigned comment by 173.215.145.177 (talk) at 20:08 on 31 December 2012

Rikke is missing[edit]

I think I've found another bug where Rikke is simply not at the Pale Imperial Camp. When I arrive the quest marker is simply floating in mid air. Have I missed something or is this a new bug? (XBox ver 1.5.48.0.6) 58.106.58.249 05:01, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

Ok, I think I answered my own question. I think the issue is that Rikke is so slow in walking from Solitude to the camp that I simply beat her there. Waiting for 24 hours has solved my problem. 58.106.58.249 05:19, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
I actually followed her when she left Castle Dour on her way there (I'm on PC). She goes north almost to the Dainty Sload, then swims back and forth across that bay about three times, and finally exits the water at the Wreck of the Icerunner. Shortly afterward there's a rocky cliff in her way, and instead of walking around it, she just stops and stands there. Perhaps this is what happened to you. Is this worth mentioning on the main page, does anyone think? 67.209.65.163 21:17, 5 September 2012 (EDT)
I have seen this bug myself, but for other NPCs. I went ahead and added it to the article. --Xyzzy Talk 21:38, 5 September 2012 (EDT)
I've got this bug, and I'll try out this fix. I see that it's listed as unconfirmed on the main page. Is there a process to confirm it? 99.135.144.6 02:15, 23 May 2013 (GMT)
I had the same problem at the Rift Imperial Camp. Only the quest marker floating. Waiting 24 hours fixed the problem and speaking to Rikke resumed the quest as normal.--87.113.190.30 14:30, 28 August 2013 (GMT)

360 fixes not working for me.[edit]

I've tried all the suggested ways to fix the bug with legate rika not talking at winterhold. If anyone else has any solutions that work better than the suggested ways that would be much apricciated. Thanks. GUM!!! 01:02, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Winterhold during season unending[edit]

If you have the rift when you start season unending the option to give winterhold to the imperials is not present. You can only choose to say that ulfric has nothing he can trade for markarth. — Unsigned comment by 82.73.72.148 (talk) at 09:35 on June 17, 2012

Falkreath during Season Unending[edit]

You can give Falkreath to the Stormcloaks during Season Unending. That should probably be indicated on the page, rather than that it always belongs to the Imperials. Black jack king 11:07, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

I just changed it because I too gave Falkreath to the Stormcloaks during Season Unending (Empire got Riften, Stormcloaks got Markarth and Falkreath) and I just reclaimed it. The battle takes place at Neugrad, and when getting the objective from Tullius, he comments that he didn't forget that it was you who gave it to them in the first place.--RumblePen (talk) 13:59, 17 September 2012 (GMT)

Legate Rikke at Winterhold Imperial Camp bug[edit]

I experienced this bug just now but was able to get past it. I did two things.

First... I did what was suggested for the other Legate Rikke bugs and went and talked to General Tulius about the state of the war till he had nothing new to say. Upon return to Legate Rikke, this had *not* fixed the problem in my case.

Second... almost as soon as I talked to Legate Rikke after talking to Tulius and saw that the "report in" option was still not available I heard a dragon roar. I exited dialog with her and went to fight the dragon (along with every imperial soldier in the camp save for Rikke herself). When the dragon and two nearby ice wraiths were dead I talked to Legate Rikke again... and the option to report in was available.

I don't know if this might be yet another potential cause of the bug or, assuming it is, if it is slaying the ice wraiths or the dragon or getting the imperial soldiers from that camp to enter and leave combat that fixed it. Heck, for all I know the game toggled Rikke's combat AI but because of other factors she couldn't move to join the fight... and that could be what fixed it. Regardless, I thought I would share it in case some one can corroborate it. — Unsigned comment by 68.59.68.37 (talk) at 11:53 on 29 September 2012

Just had this bug happen to me at the Eastmarch Imperial Camp for the Battle for Fort Amol stage of the quest. I did exactly the same two steps and had the same results. The only difference was there were no Ice Wraiths to fight, and the dragon flew off without even taking any damage, (perhaps the non-hostile encounter). Rikke came out of her tent with her sword drawn looking for the dragon, once it was out of range and she put her sword away I talked to her at the "reporting in" dialog option was available. "smalljing" of the Nexus forums suggested this: "All you have to do is use the cooking pot in the middle of any imperial camp, somehow the "reporting for duty" dialogue will appear after that." I used the one in the Winterhold camp, and a Frost Dragon immediately appeared in the air above the camp. After killing it, I went back, used the pot again, and when I talked to Legate Rikki, the "Reporting for duty," dialogue topic was available, and the quest proceeded as normal. Someone more well-versed in editing may wish to add that fix to the article, as it seems to have worked for others besides myself. The cooking pot fix didn't work for me unfortunately. — Unsigned comment by 68.196.122.43 (talk) at 21:26 on January 19, 2013
Another possible solution: Check to see if the "Report to the Jarl of Whiterun" Misc Quest is active in your journal. If it is, go complete it and then the "Report for Duty" option will appear in Rikke's dialog options. 24.0.219.112 14:37, 1 April 2013 (GMT)
I had great fun with this quest when it got to Winterhold too. I gave up Markarth and gained the Rift in Season Unending and started the Imperial Legion quests after beating Alduin. I had troubles with Legate Rikke 1) not showing up and 2) not giving the "Reporting for duty" dialogue when I was on the Retaking the Pale section of the quest. However, I tried 1) waiting for 24 hours, which made her show up, but still not offer the dialogue, and then 2) going off to a nearby dungeon and activating beast form and then talking to her again, which made her offer the "Reporting for duty" dialogue, and I completed the fort quest as normal. However, when I got up to Winterhold, nothing I tried seemed to work. She was at the Winterhold camp, but didn't offer the dialogue. 1) Waiting 24 hours, nothing, 2) Leaving the area, activating beast form, and returning once that wore off, nothing, 3) Using the cooking pot and wood chopping block in camp, nothing, 4) Using "~prid1988BB ~moveto player" console commands to move her to another camp, she still did not offer the dialogue, 5) Hitting her in the face to activate combat, then talking to her again once I exited combat, nothing, 6)Bringing over a dragon from the nearest dragon wall to enter the whole camp into combat, nothing (I actually brought over two dragons, though I'm not sure if that is significant), 7) using the console command "~setstage CWMission04 10" to start the Fort Kastav quest, this did not work and also did not change her dialogue, and 8)Installing the Unofficial Skyrim Patch, still didn't change her dialogue.
Anyway, what I eventually did was move to the Reach Imperial camp, use "~prid198BB" "~moveto player" to move Legate Rikke to the Reach camp. I then let her start walking back to Winterhold, quick travelled to the Winterhold camp, where there was a quest marker but no Rikke, and waited 24 hours there until she arrived safe and sound. When she arrived she stopped hanging out in just the map tent and walked around the rest of the camp, including in the sick area, where I talked to her, and she finally offered me the "Reporting for duty" dialogue.
So, what I recommend is moving her to another camp, moving back to the camp she's meant to be at, and waiting until she arrives there again. If you get this bug on a console and not a PC just give up, there is no hope. I hope this has been helpful. e: I also tried turning off my mods, talking to General Tullius many times until I was really certain he had nothing new to say, and dismissing my companion (Teldryn Sero) and pet (Companion Chicken from mod). 49.197.141.80 06:47, 25 October 2014 (GMT)
Yeah, none of these actually fix the problem of the quest script updating Rikke to include the dialogue. The problem seems to be that the game engine has trouble checking the conditions of the quest in certain conditions and every single "fix" listed here is just allowing the game engine to catch up in checking the conditions of the quest.

Pre and "next" quests: "Take the fort at ..." need correcting[edit]

The series of "Take the fort" quests' headers need to be cleaned up with respect to prerequisite and next quests; it is currently only accurate if no changes occur during Season Unending. Needs to be complicated/accuratized, or perhaps just removed. Same with Liberation of Skyrim, I suppose. --JR (talk) 15:39, 20 February 2013 (GMT)

Rikke not giving quest[edit]

If you have companion follower it can bug out, just part ways with them before reporting for duty. Characters like aela the huntress are guard faction which seems to conflict with imperials. I would wager a guess Something to do with greymanes and battleborns. Either way remove follower from service then talk to rikke you will Get reporting for duty dialoge. If you rejoin your companion follower Before they leave camp then make sure you also leave right away or camp Will go white troll poo on you. Odaving[edit]

I summoned Odaving because I saw the post about needing to kill the dragon nearby if there was one and when I couldn't find it, I returned to her and the option was there. Please confirm. — Unsigned comment by 71.63.4.210 (talk) at 02:51 on 11 July 2013

summoning Odaving worked for me as well, idk how it worked but she wouldnt give me the quest, i summoned Odaving to see if there were any enemies nearby, saw there were none, and went back and the option was there.71.246.233.133 15:16, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

Get lucky with a dragon (PS3)[edit]

I've been struggling with her for a while, trying all sorts of alternate methods to receive the speech prompt, to no avail. However, upon returning to the camp from Windhelm in the search for General Tullius, a simple dragon spawned and forced her into combat. After the dragon was killed the prompt was there. I'm unsure as to why, perhaps it helps to get her out of the tent and into a combat situation. Hopefully this will help others and possibly provide other means of progression, for example with other hostile creatures that will cause her to engage in battle.

Rikke not giving Reporting for Duty at Hjaalmarch camp[edit]

The Reporting for Duty Option is not appearing in the list for me, I've talked out Tullius until he turned blue, tried the resetquest option, it normally works for me, but this time it just turned off the marker entirely that targets Rikke. I have slept 5 straight days, waited 72 hours straight, nothing is working Heck I made 9 different meals for the soldiers in the camp and Rikke only has her two options of why she is fighting, and what it will take to end the war.

Any help here would be hot. {NOTE: I am on PC}

EDIT TO ADD: I ended up somehow losing Reunification of Skyrim entirely from my active and completed quests list somehow when attempting to use the 'getstage' and 'resetquest' commands in console, and my last save was just after False Front for the Imperials. which basically means I need to redo everything from Fort Dunstad onwards

I haven ever gotten or had to fight in, Hjaalmarch before, so I want to do this battle, somehow, but it only happens {rikke not giving me my reporting for duty line} when in Hjaalmarch camp. {I even tried teleporting her to another camp, then teleporting her back to the Hjaalmarch camp, and that didnt work, was I supposed to wait 24 hours then too ? I did 3 bounty quests in Whiterun and 1 in Mortal/Hjaalmarch, and that didnt help {normally it does}}

FINAL EDIT: using movetoqt cwobj fixed the issue. Reporting for Duty appeared on cue
