[edit] Hidden requirement
Does anyone know what it takes to get her to have the rumor at the Inn? After getting the sword on my main I went to get in on my level 10, but she only had the tree rumor. — Unsigned comment by 50.98.255.158 (talk) at 07:03 on 23 November 2011
- I've never gotten the rumour at all in any stage of my game. According the the Prima guide though, its be level 20 and complete Dragon Rising. — Unsigned comment by 2.24.225.60 (talk) at 18:52 on 24 November 2011
- I figured out that sometimes the rumor wont appear until you ask her the other conversation option... Can't remember what its wording is but it tells you the companions are hiring. Then the rumor discussion will reappear and you can talk to her and get the quest. — Unsigned comment by 50.98.255.158 (talk) at 22:13 on 30 November 2011
- Can confirm must be Level 20 to get the rumor. Can also confirm that grayed out dialogue may be preventing this rumor from being seen. I got the initial rumor that the companions are hiring again. Then a brand new white one was there.--Bwross 15:36, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

- Yes can also confirm this. You need to repeatedly ask the landlady about rumours. As said before the option will grey out, keep asking then it will go white again and you will get the objective to talk to the Jarl. — Unsigned comment by 90.220.29.46 (talk) at 21:32 on 22 March 2012

[edit] Jarl and Son Required?
Is this quest still possible after completing the Stormcloak liberation of Skyrim? As the Jarl is replaced and he and his household leave (not sure where to?), so can I still gain access to this quest, as I don't seem to be able to get the rumour? Haravikk 13:28, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- apparently you can find them in a dungeon somewhere, i have no idea where but thats where you can start the quest, apparently (Eddie The Head 13:29, 25 November 2011 (UTC))
- I just had to persevere until I finally got the rumour, once the quest is triggered it points you to him under the Blue Palace in Solitude, not in the prison, but not exactly the cosiest spot in the palace either. Haravikk 14:24, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

- Oddly enough, Jarl Balgruuf's children seem to still live in Dragonsreach even after the Stormcloaks take over. (As does Farengar Secret-Fire, but his presence is more logical.) 67.166.1.227 02:54, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Any recommended kill-list?
I mean those NPC's that you must kill to complete quests and who will be counted as a charge. For example, Jaree-Ra in the quest "Lights out!" can be counted as a charge while he can be killed as a quest resolution. --223.18.160.190 17:44, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Recharge limit?
Does anyone know how many people you have to kill before the Blade is restored to full strength? Tahaneira 23:22, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
- Ten people, I believe. ThuumofReason 13:03, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Dark Brotherhood Initiates?
Anyone try upgrading the Ebony Blade by attacking them, who apparently respawn back at the Sanctuary? The article says that followers are able to add to this. --75.215.86.51 18:47, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Suggested kills
I tried to edit this section but couldn't, it kept taking me to the "bugs" section. Anyhow... What I wanted to edit in was: "One might decide against killing the Riverwood general goods store owners, as they have 11k gold available for bartering after investing in their shop." A possible addendum could be (but is not necessary as I'm sure everyone will get the point): "This might force the player to lose a very valuable merchant, and an easy way to sell goods in bulk."
If anyone could edit this in I would be grateful. -Anon — Unsigned comment by 81.243.31.33 (talk) at 13:36 on 29 December 2011
- Edit: created an account, this solved the issue. I edited it in, feel free to fix my terrible wording. Sage Whore 14:15, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
- That's for discussion here, not the article. That's an interesting point to make, but I feel it's not particularly relevant for 3 reasons: First, it's a bug, and so it will probably be removed eventually, assuming it hasn't already with 1.4. Second, it only applies if you put enough points into speech perks to have the option to invest; if you haven't put the necessary points into speech skills AND invested, you're not losing anything important. Third, even if you have invested in him, it's not like you're losing something irreplaceable. A merchant's available funds reset daily to the default amount, so you can achieve the same end result with a little bit of patience. Once you complete the Thieves' Guild questline, there are about 5 different merchants with a default 4000 gold AND will buy stolen goods, so they're more useful than the Riverwood Trader anyway. - This shouldn't even be on this page; this is about the quest. The info here should be on the blades page. Tell me why otherwise and I won't move it.Br3admax 23:25, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- Eh, fair enough. Go ahead and move it if you like. ThuumofReason 19:57, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Hulda dead?
Is it still possible to get this quest if Hulda dies before you start it (but Ysolda is still alive)? The article doesn't make that clear; it says you can't get the rumor if Hulda is dead but suggests it's still possible to complete if Ysolda is still alive. If that's the case, how would you start this quest? 67.166.1.227 02:48, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- A common bug with Ysolda stops her from giving rumors. The Silencer has spoken 08:28, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
