The realm of Aetherius is the root of every magic and arcane art, and is said to be where life flows, quite literally. It is believed that when a person dies, assuming they are not earthbound for some reason, they go to Aetherius, to continue on as a spirit. The Nords call this "Sovngaard," and it is theorized to be ruled by a god of the divine, most likely Stendarr. Aetherius is regarded by some mortals to be the Elder Scrolls version of Heaven, but this is incorrect. It is actually the home of the Aedric spirits, both the Nine and those who took no part in the creation of the Mundus.
