Almalexia, also known as Ayem , is popularly loved among the Dunmeri as Merciful Healing Mother, Goddess of the Dunmer in the Tribunal of gods. She resides in Morrowind's capital Mournhold and casts her benevolent influence over all of her race. Almalexia closest followers were those of House Indoril, who until recently formed the main ruling class of Mournhold, and thus all of Morrowind. Almalexia was wife to Indoril Nerevar and later consort of Vivec.

After her husbands death, the councilors of Nerevar and the Tribunal of Vivec, Almalexia, and Sotha Sil came to power among the Dunmer. They then went against Nerevar's dying wish by using the profane Tools of Kagrenac on the Heart of Lorkhan in order to steal its divine essence for themselves. Together known as Almsivi, they achieved great heroism with their divinity, but it was also their undoing; because they worked deeds of good against the evil of the Heart they were weakened even before the return of Dagoth-Ur, Nerevar's nemesis. Dagoth-Ur, who had also stolen power from the Heart, acted in accordance with its evil and grew stronger.

Almalexia is considered to be the mother figure of the Tribunal. She looks after, heals, and nurtures her children, but is known to be strict when they stray. The Ordinators of House Indoril are her tools to achieve this purpose. It is possible that Almalexia established the Ordinators' belief that the recent weakness of the Tribunal is caused by a lack of faith and religious fervor among its people.

When the Nerevarine came to Mournhold after Dagoth-Ur's fall, Almalexia sought to trick, entrap, and destroy him, perhaps in the vain hope of recovering what was once hers. She first turned on Sotha Sil in her madness and slew him in his Clockwork City, then unleashed its mechanical inhabitants in a reign of terror, for which Sotha Sil took the blame. When she faced the Nerevarine, wielding Nerevar's ancient blade Trueflame, her powers failed her and she died in the Clockwork City.
