Also know as The Treaty of the Armistice, the Armistice fulfilled Tiber Septim's dream of a united Tamriel and marks the end of the second era, in 2E 896. The Armistice ended the eighty year Four-Score War over the rule of Morrowind. In a surprising move initiated by Vivec without seeking counsel, he and Septim reached an agreement to end the war. In return for Numidium and acceptance of the Emperor, the Dunmer kept formal self-rule, house tradition such as Slavery, and religious practices under the Empire.

As a consequence of the Armistice, the then dominant faction in Morrowind, House Indoril, rapidly lost power in favor of House Hlaalu. This was helped in no small part by the fact that many leading Indoril members committed suicide, struggling to come to terms with the agreement and Imperial influence.
