Chimer (changed folk) are an extinct race of Mer. Guided by the prophet Veloth, they left the Aldmeri home of Summerset Isle, and migrated to the land of Resdayn, later known as Morrowind. But after the War of the First Council, during which the Dwemer vanished in unexplained circumstances, they were transformed into Dunmer by the Daedric goddess Azura as punishment when the Tribunal broke the oath to Nerevar and Azura by using Kagrenac's Tools on the Heart of Lorkhan to tap into the Divine.

It is assumed that the Tribunal used divine energies to change their appearance, which explains why they did not appear as Dunmer. The Chimer were of average height with radiant gold skin and yellow eyes.

Vivec, Almalexia, and Dagoth Ur, may be the last living Chimer.
