[edit] Caldera
Caldera is a recent Imperial charter just north of Balmora. It was built to service the nearby ebony mine, providing the miners with homes, entertainment and religion in the form of an Imperial Cult altar. The town is ruled largely from the Caldera Mining Company's fortress to the north-east, and the Imperial/Nord-style buildings form an inverse "L" shape between the two large guard towers at each end. While Dunmer presence in Caldera is almost non-existent, Ghorak Manor on the east side of town houses a large contingent of Orcs. Whether they own the house or are just squatting, it seems the place is in constant chaos, with goods, upended furniture and junk piled on every available surface. Then again, the chaos could be caused by Creeper, their pet scamp. Notable institutions in Caldera include a Mages Guild branch, a pawn-shop, a tavern and one of the only Imperial-style clothiers in Vvardenfell.
[edit] Cheydinhal
Cheydinhal is a city in Cyrodiil whose population is mostly of Dunmer origin, due to its close proximity to Morrowind's border. The current Count is Andel Indarys of House Hlaalu.
[edit] Chorrol
Chorrol is a medium-sized town ruled by Countess Arriana Valga in the western section of the Great Forest, lying along the border to the Colovian Highlands in the northwest region of Cyrodiil, a small distance along the Black Road northwest from the capital. The main Fighter's Guild hall is located here.
[edit] Cloud Ruler Temple
Cloud Ruler Temple is stronghold of the Blades, dating back to the days of the second empire. It is one of the most dramatic remaining examples of Akaviri architecture, located high in the Jerall Mountains near Bruma.
[edit] Cloudrest
Cloudrest is a city in the northern regions of Summerset Isle, located atop Eton Nir, the highest mountain on the isle. It features an unusual mixture of architectural styles, with vine-like buildings built on top of other, older structures.
[edit] Colovian Highlands
A hilly, forested region of western Cyrodiil. The town of Chorrol can be found in this region. Compare Colovia.
[edit] Corbolo River
The Corbolo River is one of the largest tributaries of the Niben River, which it joins at the northeast corner of Niben Bay. It rises to the southwest of Cheydinhal, flowing southeast until it merges with its tributary the Reed River, then south then finally southwest.
[edit] Cyrodiil
Cyrodiil is a province in the central-south of Tamriel and is the home of a human race named Imperials. It is the center of their Empire, which controls all other provinces. Cyrodiil is also known as the Heartland and is the setting for the game The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The capital of Cyrodiil, The Imperial City, is located on an island in the center of the province.
[edit] Geography
Cyrodiil has a varied environment, and is divided into several regions:
- The Nibenay Basin: Also known as "the Heartlands," the basin contains the river valley of the Niben. It is mostly an open, agricultural area where the Nibenese Imperials hail from. The Imperial City is located on an island at the base of the Niben River. The city of Bravil is located on the banks of Niben Bay.
- The Great Forest: An immense woodland area just west of the Imperial City.
- Colovian Highlands: A hilly, forested region of western Cyrodiil. The town of Chorrol can be found in this region.
- The West Weald: The West Weald is an open countryside of southern Cyrodiil, well known for its vineyards and tomato farms. The city of Skingrad is located here.
- The Gold Coast: The western coastline of Cyrodiil. Aside from the occasional farmlands, the main features of the region are the city of Anvil, a major port city, and the inland city of Kvatch.
- Jerall Mountains: A mountain range in northern Cyrodiil, on the Skyrim border. The town of Bruma is here.
- Valus Mountains: A mountain range in eastern Cyrodiil on the Morrowind border. The city of Cheydinhal is located here.
- Blackwood: A swampland in southern Cyrodiil east of Leyawiin. It's along the Black Marsh border.
[edit] History
Cyrodiil was originally inhabited by the Ayleids, who were killed off in an uprising by the human slaves they kept. Ayleid ruins litter the country, along with magical runestones and doomstones. The White Gold Tower, containing the Imperial Palace, was also built by the Ayleids. Its tall white spire can be seen from most areas in Cyrodiil.
