[edit] Wayrest
Wayrest is the name of a province in the Iliac Bay region, and is also the name of the capital of that province, the city of Wayrest. The province of Wayrest is located to the east of the Iliac Bay, at the mouth of the river in High Rock. It is adjacent to the provinces of Menevia, the Orsinium Area, Gavaudon, Mournoth, and Satakalaam. It has always been seen as a rival to Daggerfall, which was already well established when it first was founded at the mouth of the Bjoulsae River. Wayrest, however, prospered greatly after the Fall of Orsinium in 1E 980 when the commerce of all of Tamriel began to pass through its gates. Today the city can boast the largest and richest population in High Rock. Bretons are native to this province.
[edit] West Gash
The western highlands of Vvardenfell are called the West Gash. The region is one of Vvardenfell's largest contiguous areas, stretching from just south of Balmora, the district seat of House Hlaalu, to as far north as Khuul and the shores of the Sea of Ghosts. The West Gash lies between two mountain ranges, west of the Ashlands and east of the Bitter Coast. The terrain of the West Gash is generally rocky savannah in the south, marked by unique, natural rock bridges inland in the south and on the coast, with sparse forest in the northern area. Major settlements in the West Gash include the fishing villages Ald Velothi and Khuul, the trading village Gnisis, Balmora and Caldera. The Caldera Mining Company has been granted an Imperial monopoly to remove Raw Ebony from the rich deposits here. Caldera has the appearance and flavor of a Western Imperial town, but a Hlaalu Govenor. The Imperial Legion garrisons of Fort Moonmoth and Fort Darius round out the Imperial presence.
[edit] West Weald
The West Weald is an open countryside of southern Cyrodiil, well known for its vineyards and tomato farms. The city of Skingrad is located here. The West Weald borders the provinces of Elsweyr and Valenwood.
[edit] Western Reach
The Western Reach is actually the easternmost section of the province of High Rock and its name is derived from its location on Skyrim's western border. It was one of the Skyrim Holds during the First Empire which was retaken by the Aldmeri during the Dissolution of Skyrim's Empire, at a great cost of Nordic life. As a prevention against further incursions from Skyrim, the Elves fashioned the Western Reach into an impregnable barrier. It was because of this that the Reach remained under Elven rule the longest of any part of High Rock which can still be seen today. Even for Bretons, Reachmen are a mongrel breed composed of nearly every race on Tamriel. Although the Elven Overlords were killed when the Reach was 'freed', Aldmeri blood is still strong in the Reachmen and share many Elven traits. They also learned customs and magic from the Orcs who share the mountains of the Reach. The Reachmagic is still widely studied although banned by the Mages Guild who fear it as dangerous and wild. Reachmen are often refered to as the Witchmen of High Rock.
[edit] White Rose River
The White Rose River is an odd, roughly H-shaped river in central Cyrodiil. There are two separate sources, both rising in the West Weald, just south of the Great Forest. Both flow almost due north and are joined half way along their lengths by a large stream before passing under the Red Ring Road and flowing into Lake Rumare. This odd formation means a large island is formed between the river's lower reaches and its "cross-piece".
[edit] Whiterun
A town in central Skyrim, in which the young Barenziah stayed for a week during her return to Mournhold
[edit] Windhelm
Windhelm is a city in northeastern Skyrim, close to the border with Morrowind. It is the only substantial city in the Hold of Eastmarch and is a base for Imperial troops guarding the Dunmeth Pass into Morrowind. Windhelm was once the capitol of the First Empire, the old palace of the Ysgramor dynasty can still be seen in the center of the city. The palace is in fact one of the few original First Empire buildings left, as the city has been sacked twice, during the War of Succession (before 1E 420) and by the Akaviri army of Ada'Soon Dir-Kamal.
[edit] Winterhold
Winterhold (sometimes called Winter Hold) is the capital of the namesake county and a coastal fortress, located on the northeastern tip of Skyrim. Somewhat isolated from the rest of Nord culture, but still wealthy and influential, it is known as one of the Old Holds. Due to its proximity to Morrowind's border, Winterhold is heavily affected by Dunmer ways and ideas, fueling part of its economy. It contains the Ysmir Collective, and the well-known College of Winterhold. The ruins of Saarthal are closeby.
[edit] Wolverine Hall
Situated just south of Sadrith Mora, the Wolverine Hall is a rather pathetic attempt on the part of the Imperials to project power in a region of Vvardenfell where they are clearly powerless. The Telvanni tolerate the presence of the fort mostly because nobody cares enough to knock it down, and because any who tried to became inextricably lost in the lower passages of the hall. The Wolverine Hall houses the services not permitted in the town itself, such as the mainland Mages Guild, Fighters Guild and Imperial Cult altar. These are concealed within the fort itself. To reach them, follow the spiral stairway accessible on the left as you enter the altar up to the mages, or down to the fighters. It is ill-advised to venture beyond the door you seek - the tortuous nature of the hall's passages is no joke. If you should choose to explore further, chances are that you will become lost. Luckily, a Divine Intervention spell will set you down right outside again. Between the Hall and the town itself is Dirty Muriel's Cornerclub, a Nord-style building that houses the Thieves Guild.
[edit] Wrothgarian Mountains
The Wrothgarian Mountains are a large region in High Rock, located at the northeast corner of the Iliac Bay. The region is inhabited mostly by Orcs and Bretons. The provincial seat is the city of Wrothgaria.
