[edit] Scopes

When you get to a certain point in marksman you can zoom on the enemy slightly. You should be able to use scopes to see quite far away, say maybe as far as the view would go. Sadly the arrows don't travel in a straight line, so that's where a crossbow-esque thing would come in?

  • Crossbow bolts also don't travel in a straight line. Even bullets don't travel in a straight line.
  • It would be cool if their was an enchantment like a sure fire thing that use charge to make an arrow fly straight, seek or have unlimited arrows in a quiver.

[edit] Tools

What about all the tools that already exist in the game? Pitchforks, scythes, knives...every time I see one of these in a house or crate, I want to use it, especially the scythes! I'm so surprised this isn't a mod yet (that I could find anyway).

  • There is a mod to make those all wieldable

[edit] Tranquilizer

Now i know there has been a few gun mods made, so my idea is to make a tranquilizer, it can paralyze a target for around 10-15 game hours and do a small amount of damage to them.

For something like this, you wouldn't even need an actual gun. it could be a blowdart gun or something. But then, a paralyze spell for that long would be ludicrously overpowered.

[edit] Hopesfire and Trueflame

Every time I log on that dark elf of mine I wish my character had something special from Morrowind, yes Hopesfire and Trueflame. These weapons are my all time favorite items in the TES games and I do miss them a lot in Oblivion. I have been searching all kinds of sites and googled for it, but I seem to be out of luck. My skills with textures and meshes are more than just awful so I can't do it myself. If you're good with the meshes, textures and got the heart on the right place (wink, wink) could you make an old TES junkie happy? Thanks for reading.

[edit] Katars

They're Old Indian weapons that you wear on your arms and have blades over the knuckles. Maybe then Hand to Hand wouldn't be completely useless. Each material (Iron,Steel,Silver, etc.) could have different textures and appearance. They would be strengthened within the longsword domain but a little weaker. Hand to Hand is the governing attribute.

[edit] LOTR Mod

It would be fantastic, if someone would do one big LOTR mod. Elven armor should be elvish armor from the second age (ore ones that seen in helms deep). Also all kinds of weapons and stuff to. Imperial guards should be wearing Gondorian armor and imperial city palace guards should be wearing gondorian tower guards armor(if possible, than they should wear spears too). Some kind of special armors(only available for you) from main characters from LOTR like aragorn, Gil-Galad or Elrond or Gandalf's (mages guild archmage clothing). Weapons like sting, Gandalf's staff and sword. Aragorn's Flame of the west and so on. Also rings of power, like Vilya (Elrond's ring of air), Nenya (Galadriel's ring of adamant), and Narya (Gandalf's fire ring) would be cool.

[edit] Polearms

Nothing too fancy here, but I'd really like to see the return of polearms. Perhaps they could be put in as stabbing weapons for ease. I'd like to play a dragoon again. (What can I say, elven armor (or the adamant armor from Morrowind's mission packs) would be really sweet with a spear jumping off the top of a house and pwning someone.)

  • There are already a couple polearms mods.
  • a javelin would be nice too.
  • a good one would be a halberd which can slash and stab.

[edit] Dwemer rifle

Some unique and powerful rifle, created by the Dwemers, and ammo could be recharged by some special soul gems. It could also give a boost to several attributes/skills, but it could be quite slow and had "mortal wound" ability, which drains dramatic amounts of health and fatigue, like Keening/Sunder in Morrowind. This ability could be resisted by some unique magical gauntlets, like Wraithguard in Morrowind.

  • So you have a awsome rifle that kills YOU QUICK and reloads SLOW. I like it but I found keening and sunder when i was level 3, and i didn't even do the first mission in the main quest untill i was level 50. please don't put mortal wound on it. Also, small dueling pistols would be cool, maybe cross bows to? Also, Why don't you just make it use magic points? Could you by any chance beat your victum to death with the gun? Make it use marksmanship skill to deal big ammounts of damage.

[edit] Arquebus

Arquebus can show technological advancements in Oblivion, making it able to fire pellets or balls rather than fireballs. It can have the gunpowder (made by alchemy) and realistic flint-lock features. Or the use of Flintlock or Matchlock pistols, where you would possibly have to ignite it using a torch or historic fire lighter. And the purchase of iron, steel, silver, dwarven etc pellets so the stats increase on ammunition.

The introduction of gunpowder can and most likely will be a turn-off for many. Since it might take away the feel of Oblivions fantasy kingdom.
There is at least one Arquebus mod I've seen, but I'm not sure that it has been translated from German.

[edit] Dwemer Pistols

Single-use powerful weapons carried by pirates and highwaymen (possible method for acquiring a bonus in the DB quest, killing the captain with his own pistol)

One mod like that exists. Makes one shot - one kill Dwemer Pistol available for player.

[edit] Thrown Axe

i think throwing axes would be fun, lower range but more power than bows, with the possibility of sending enemies flying if struck

  • There are mods for ninja stars and throwing knifes, not sure about axes

[edit] Crossbows

At least a couple or so crossbows would be a welcome addition and a nice change from the ever-so-boring bow. Have a better animation for reloading then in Morrowind.

  • Perhaps there could be some kind of repeating crossbow? It could be a Dunmer artifact. Failing that different kinds of bows, such as a true longbow, would be a good way to ring the changes.
  • I think it would be a little more true to the Elder Scrolls universe if the repeating crossbow was of Dwemer make, considering they are(or were) the most technologically advanced race in all of Tamriel.
  • They could serve as a short range weapon for heavy armor-types (especially the legionnaires in their massive armors)

[edit] Legendary Swords of Morrowind

I would like to see the return of the many legendary swords in Morrowind. like Eltonbrand, Chryasmere, the Ice Blade of the Monarch and the Daedric Crescent Blade. Id also like to see the return of the Ebony Arrows of Slaying.

  • I get the swords, but arrows that do 5,000 points of damage sounds like a thrown version of Mehrunes' Razor.

[edit] Enchanted Arrows

Make enchanting arrows at altars possible, and to be balanced make it expensive

  • I'd like to see arrow enchanting work like weapon enchanting. You provide a soul gem, and the arrow effects. The number of arrows that get enchanted will be based on the number of "charges" that you could get from the soul gem. Powerful enchants with a weak soul gem may only give a few arrows(maybe no less than 10), while a weak enchant with a powerful soul gem might affect a hundred or more.
  • An arrow enchanter mod has been made at Planet Elder Scrolls. Has both an arrow enchanter at the university and a portable one. They use reagents, much like alchemy, for the enchantments. Makes a quantity of 25 arrows each.
  • Enchanting bows is more effective because they can be recharged but enchanted arrows disappear after one shot, what would be better is the ability to put paralyze on weapons, especially bows

[edit] Historical Weights for Swords & Other Weapons

Despite the common misconception, swords (even the two handed great swords) did not weigh more than 8 lbs. A primer on sword weights for those who disbelieve can be found at http://www.thearma.org/essays/weights.htm

  • Daggers - under 1 lb
  • Short Swords - 1 to 2 lbs
  • Long Swords - 2 to 4 lbs
  • Katanas - around 2 lbs
  • Greatswords Maces and War Axes - 4 to 6 lbs

Someone would need to dig up the weights for Warhammers and Great axes but I suspect that these weapons may be the invention of the fantasy genre so may not have actual historical counterparts.

(Warhammers are historical [very late medieval] but were designed to penetrate armor, not simply bludgeon. Therefore they were much smaller and lighter than the ones in TES which would be difficult even to pick up Assuming the head of a TES warhammer is solid they probably really would weigh 30-50 pounds. Great axes, also known as battleaxes, were real weapons. I believe Norse (the Vikings) used them.) (Vikings fought with sword and shield, axes were used as a tool, not weapon)(The Norsemen who went "Viking" used axes as weapons, mostly as weaponry for their berserkers, who got drunk before battle.?

  • Realistic weight mods have been added. Several different ones, in fact. A simple tweak could easily modify the weights to comfortable levels.

[edit] Whips

Whips aren't always the biggest when it comes to popularity, but I think that it is definitely an interesting idea for a whole new weapon to be introduced in Oblivion, and I think it would balance out nicely into the game itself.

[edit] Morning Stars

How about some old-fashion chain-and-ball weapons? Not any of those fancy boring maces on sticks, but some loosely chain and swing action!

  • Its called a flail
  • Just be sure not to hit yourself on the head.(havoc engine?)
  • IMHO, a morning star is a club-like weapon: a stave with a spiked ball on it: Morningstar (image). The chain-and-ball weapon would be a battle flail: Battleflail (image). The idea is very good though.
  • A morning star is simply a spiked mace. So technically the (Fine) Steel Maces are morning stars. lol However, a flail would be a nice addition. Working out the physics of it would be a mess, but someone dedicated could do it easily.

[edit] Realistic-looking axes

So far, tens of wonderful swords mods were made, but no axes mods (more or less realistic).

[edit] More Diverse Weaponry

Most of the weapons in the game were simple re-textures, no difference. Maybe the handles changed, great. But what about variety in shapes for, let's say, battleaxes? The normal steel battle axe can have a large, single-edged crescent moon blade, whereas an Ebony battle axe can have a more elaborate, spiked double-edged blade at the tip.

[edit] Lightsaber

Maybe as an easter egg for being at a certain level a guy comes up to you and delivers it to you saying the emperor left it for you.

  • There is a few made

[edit] Constant Effect + On-Strike Weapons

How about a series of weapons that never run out of charges? A flame sword that would always do +10 fire damage would be really cool and, if done right, would not break the game. You could even create a "master swordsmith" NPC that you could do a quest for to get the new item, like: "bring me 20 varla stones, 30 fire salts, and a daedric longsword and I will craft a blade that will forever burn."

  • There are already several weapons which indirectly have this effect, - on the Shivering Isles, Dusk/Dawnfang? (Also Nights of the Nine weapons recharge when replaced on the stand), possibly only available on download though.

[edit] The circlet of Sithis

Maybe some kind of super ring of Sithis that every time you kill someone whilst wearing it would absorb their soul for example if you killed a creature with a grand soul you get 1600 energy extra then that energy would be stored in the ring and you could view how much energy was in it the way of an enchanted sword. It would not have a limit of absorption (it would not be able to absorb the soul of a summoned creature)and it would have three special powers: an offensive one, a defensive one and an improving one.

  • the offensive one: The ring gives you a lesser power that costs the souls you have absorbed. This spell would fire a bolt of magic large enough to kill an enemy the soul power that would go away would work the way that the life of your enemy is for example 100 and then the ring would kill him instantly by sacrificing 1000 soul points and if it was 150 a 1500 cost and so life.10=-soul points.
  • the defensive one: If you are attacked and your health is reduced to 0 it would heal 5% of your maximum health at the cost of 100 soul points for 5 health and on.Of course it would need a 3 minute recharge to preform this action again you know to not make it to powerful.
  • the improving one: When equipped for the first time there would be a message asking you which 3 skills you want it improving select these skills he will also improve the 2 attributes you choose as major attributes when you designed or choose your profession.it will give you a 1 point bonus for every 2000 energy within the ring and for your attributes a 1 point bonus for every 3000 energy within the ring at the moment (in other words the bonuses will increase and decrease with you gathering or using soul points).

That was my proposal for a weapon ring of Sithis soul point cost may of course be chosen by anyone who makes the mod although i think this would be a good way of using them. I hope someone makes the mod and if you do i would like that you post it here=>......

  • Even better. The Ring of Sithis only absorbs half the amount of soul power of NPCs, and ONLY NPCs (Much like a black soul gem, only you get a Common sould instead of a Grand soul). The ring can be used like azuras star, but instead of only absorbing one soul, it can absorb many, up to 2500 points. This can be used to recharge an item, or make a weapon with lots of charge. The drawback is that it must be equipped when you make the kill, taking up a valuable ring slot.

[edit] Creature Caster Bow

Cause certain arrows to morph into creatures on impact. Each creature may also have its own arrow. How about BEARrows? I know this sounds strange, but it would allow you to throw creatures into a situation. Could also be a randomizer arrow type or setting, so each shot would add a different creature.

  • Also like your idea, it would be cool to have a bow and arrow. the arrow with a mark and a bow with a recall type effect. so you can stick an arrow in a tree and tree and cast your bow ability to recall to that arrow.

[edit] Diablo/Diablo II unique weapons

We've all seen the cool weapons the Diablo series had to offer. Like the grizzly, the grandfather blade, the butchers cleaver and so on. And of course Diablo II weapons as well such as Khalim's will, Azurewrath, Headstriker etc. These were all beautifully designed weapons that need to be seen up close and personal.

[edit] Chain weapons

Like a chain with blades or weights on it. it would be about the same damage as a short sword, but has a really long reach.

[edit] Necrid's Orb (Soul Calibur)

A weapon that morphs into a different weapon everytime it's swung then returns to orb form after attack finishes, does not return to orb form when nonstop attacking. Still uses the skills of whatever weapon it morphs into, but will change. This excludes Bows and staves of coarse, but if the whip mod (mentioned above) is made, Necrid's Orb Should have it. Weapons should effect undead. Instead of iron, steel, mythril, daedric, glass, ect. Use the traditional names of necrids weapons, and have them a leveled reward for a quest 1-5: Etheral Edge (rusty iron)
5-10: Hex Luminae (iron)
10-15: Lemures (steel)
15-20: Ignis Fatuus (Silver)
20-25: Maleficus (Dwarven)
25-30: Lambent Viper (Elven)
30-35: Morphos (Glass)
35-40: Infernal Edge (Ebony)
40-45: Chaos (Daedric)
45+: Soul Edge (Perfect Madness)
Then in a seperate quest you get to have it enchanted.
Make the weapons look like the glossy enchantments from morrowind, but with no weapon on the inside, just the shape of it on made by the gloss.

[edit] Boxing Gloves

This might sound a bit strange, but could anyone make a medieval version of our modern boxing gloves? I'd like to see one weapon that truly emphasizes hand-to-hand combat and what better weapon than boxing gloves themselves? I'd do it myself, but I don't know how to make 3D art or have programs for doing so. Thanks!

[edit] Master Sword and Hylian Shield Mod

How about a well done Master Sword Weapon? Or a well done Hylian Shield? That´d be a cool addition just as the LOTR Mod would be...

[edit] Classify Axes as Blades

This has been bothering me. Axes are classified as blunt weapons in Oblivion, but they are definitely blade weapons in real life. It'd be great if someone could change them to be blades.

  • Axes are classed as blunt weapons because, so the idea goes, the same skill used to swing a mace is used to swing an axe. Would you use an axe the same way you used a longsword? No. Even if the weapon classifications are a little vague on Oblivion. (Daggers = same skill as claymores :P)
  • Pick up a copy of the Manual of Arms, it's a pretty good read. Specifically, "Skill with blunt weapons is desirable to wield the war axe, mace, battle axe and war hammmer. To the uninitiated, axes and hammers may seem to be very different weapons, but the rhythm, drill, and physical strength used by both weapon types are virtually identical."

[edit] Massive Swords

Wouldn't it be cool if you could get a massive sword, like the one Zabuza has on Naruto. It would be slow but deal some massive damage.

There is already a mod like this, Dragon slayer. The sword from the anime berserk.

[edit] Dual wield

I dont know if the computer has it, but having two swords equipped would be SWEET! Or a sword and a mages staff...

[edit] Realistic Warhammers

Warhammers in real life were actually quite small, and more closely resembeled a carpender's hammer than something you'd see in a Bugs Bunny cartoon. A replacement for warhammers to make them more accurate would be nice.

  • that makes it the size of a pick ax, I know it's more realistic, but if you make volendrung, or nerveshatter somthing you would use to put nails in a wall, rather than somthing you would use to destroy one, it makes giant daedra killing weapons useless! would you attack a oger with a weapon the size of your hand, or the size of your torso, if you could lift it, that is.
