[edit] Bug at Wayshrines
I'm playing Oblivion on xbox360, and I can't access the wayshrines in the proper way. Every time I activate one, it says "continue your penance to earn the gods' forgiveness" even though I have no bounty and my fame far outweighs my infamy (47-2 at the moment). The weird part is that the Knights of the Nine quest line still tells me I've prayed at the wayshrine, and I'm pretty sure I can still use the god-specific altars at chapels. Is there any way I can fix this? If not, will it impact my game in any meaningful way?
Viele Danke,
daVenda
- First, once you've installed Knights of the Nine you must have zero infamy in order to receive a blessing from wayshrines; see Wayshrines for details. This is different from how the wayshrines behave without KotN. In order to clear your infamy, you need to do the Pilgrimage quest all over again, i.e., you must visit a full set of of nine wayshrines without committing any new crimes along the way.
- Also another quirk to keep in mind is that it's possible to have a 0.5 gold bounty (from stealing an item that costs 1 gold). In your stats screen, it shows up as 0 bounty because it gets rounded down. In that case, one option is to steal another 1 gold item in front of a guard, then pay him the fine when he arrests you. --NepheleTalk 16:01, 25 October 2007 (EDT)

- This is not entirely true, when I started my KoN I had 0 infamy and i didnt do any thing between the shrines and it still said that, i think it is just an error on the designers part because you are still able to complete the quest and you can still use chapels.
[edit] Screenshots
Is it possible to take screenshots with a(n?) X-box?
I know proper grammer I just couldn't think if a or an went with X-Box. --Jesus lover 20:18, 25 September 2007 (EDT)
- I'm pretty sure it's not possible, but if it is possible then it would probably require a lot of work and would be pretty complicated. It's a shame really.--Willyhead 11:35, 26 September 2007 (EDT)
- It is possible with a capture card on your computer and the right equipment. That's how some people (like the guys who make Red vs. Blue) make movies. Not simple, not cheap, but it does work. Also, it would be "an X-Box" because "X" has a short "e" sound. =) IWon'tFightUndead 00:55, 26 October 2007 (EDT)
[edit] About Scrolls in Oblivion IV Elder Scrolls.
Hi I just wanted to know something about scrolls. I have collected tons of spell scrolls while playing oblivion. I know you can either sell these or use them, but I think that would be a waste. Is it possible to learn the spells on these scrolls as an alternative to buying spells from NPC vendors? And if so, how? Please let me know. Thank you. 69.158.159.224 19:50, 13 October 2007 (EDT) Regin Leif
- Unfortunately not. I've often thought it should be possible but the only way to learn spells in this way is to buy the Spell Tomes plugin and find the books. --Rpeh•T•C•E• 03:08, 14 October 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Mephala Shrine Glitch
I'm a member of the Morag Tong, but Dral won't tlk to me about "sensitive matters". Is this a glitch, and if so, what can I do to fix it? Maximus_Bane83 16:56, 27 October 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Contagious Oblivion
Is it possible for NPCs to contract a disease (most notably Porphyric Hemophilia) while following the PC around? Can they contract a disease at all?75.132.224.43 21:54, 29 October 2007 (EDT)
- I don't think it is possible for an NPC to contract a disease, certainly not while just following you around. Porphyric Hemophilia is not contracted by you (if you're a vampire) even when you bite people. The only NPCs I know that have diseases are beggars. Vesna 22:11, 29 October 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Error on Startup
Dear Editor,
After installing ES: Oblivion, i try to run the game. A few after clicking 'play' an error message appears which reads "Failed to initialise renderor. NiXAdapaterDesc::GetDeviceCaps()failed".
Please could you help? And also send a copy of the answer to my email which is nealdee@hotmail.co.uk.
Thanks! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.4.194.77 (talk • contribs).
- It sounds like you have a problem with your graphics drivers. Try reinstalling the most recent version of the drivers for your graphics card then loading the game again. --Rpeh•T•C•E• 18:49, 31 October 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Odd question because I'm bored; Daedra, you, love!
Is it possible to mate with daedra like the Mazken or Aureal in the sense of Tamriel Lore, Facts, etc?
- You cant mate period in the game.
I am talking about Lore, history, etc. Maybe I should write in all caps next time.:P
