The UESPWiki – Your source for The Elder Scrolls since 1995

This page provides various standard messages that can be added to user talk pages.

Add the IP address or user name to the appropriate message, and click the button. The message will be inserted onto the talk page, and you will then have a chance to modify the message before saving the talk page. The messages should generally be customized before saving. Some customizations to consider include:

• Replace "this IP address" with "this account" if appropriate
• Add links to specific examples

This is a basic welcome message to greet new editors to the site. Personalizing the welcome message is highly recommended whenever possible; the main intent behind the standardized message is to make it easier to include useful links in the message. In particular, please add the editor's name to the message ;)

This warning is specifically intended for use with proxy IP addresses used by the Plus-Sign Vandal.

This IP address has been blocked from editing UESPWiki for repeatedly vandalizing the site, despite being warned to stop. Other IP addresses used by this user (starting with 200.238.102.162 and 200.238.102.170) have also been blocked. If you wish to appeal the block, you may make your request on your talk page, which you can still edit even while being blocked. The repeat vandalism has come from multiple IP addresses —~~~~

[Warnings for spam are generally not needed, unless the links appear to be UESP-related, but have just been added indiscriminately]

Adding multiple unnecessary links to an external web site is considered to be spamming. Links to UESP-related sites should be added to General:Links. Adding other links solely for the purpose of advertising your web site can be considered to be vandalism. If you continue to use the wiki for advertising purposes, this IP address will be blocked from editing. —~~~~

This IP address has been blocked indefinitely from editing UESPWiki for adding unrelated external links or other advertising to the site. Spamming is considered to be vandalism and is not tolerated. Notices are intended to be used in any situation where there is a chance that an editor is acting in good faith. Remember that the person receiving the message is probably just new to the site and unfamiliar with how to do things. Customizing the message is even more important in these cases. In particular, try modifying the "Thanks for your interest" sentence to make it clear that you've noticed what the editor is trying to do.

However, when adding information to an article it is not appropriate to add your name, as explained on our style guide. Blanking pages is not appropriate. If you deleted this content accidentally, you may want to review Help:Editing to learn about how to edit wiki pages, and you may want to use our sandbox to experiment. If you blanked the page because you felt it should be deleted, it is more appropriate to request deletion for the page, as explained by our deletion policy.
