Necromancers are aggressive mage-type NPCs. They are always hostile and will attack you on sight. They are mainly found in Necromancer Dungeons where they practice the dark art of Necromancy. Most Necromancers are exiles of the Mages Guild after Necromancy was banned from being practiced. Necromancy involves capturing human souls and ressurrecting the dead. In Necromancer dungeons you will find inanimate or animated zombies and many alchemical examples.

[edit] Equipment
Necromancers wear generic Necromancer's Robes and are generally armed with a mace or staff. Necromancer Adepts wear hoods as they are higher in rank than a normal Necromancer. Both usually carry various scrolls and potions to aid them in battle. They also sometimes carry Soul Gems. It is not uncommon to see a Necromancer summon many varieties of Undead to help them defeat their foe.
[edit] Necromancer Ranks
Necromancers are the most common kind of Necromancers. They carry maces and wear only necromancer robes.
Necromancer Adepts are more powerful Necromancers who are often found wielding staves in addition to their maces. They are easily distinguishable by the hoods they wear.
Worm Anchorites are responsible for the creation of Black Soul Gems, they wear robes and hoods but do not carry staffs.

Please note as this is the draft, all of these items have a chance ratio that they will spawn with the Necromancer.
[edit] Tactics
Necromancers, like Conjurers, rely on spells rather than melee to aid them in battle. Once they have exhausted their scroll supply or magicka, they will indefinitely unsheath their weapon and move forward to attack the player. However they can also be considered the opposites of conjurers in that they they summon Undead creatures rather than Daedra to aid them while they stay ranged, using Destruction spells. They will also possess leveled Mysticism and Alteration spells as well as a minor Restoration spell. Necromancers are hard to pin down and kill since they often flee from you while their creatures fight you and will heal themselves often. When their summoned creature is slain, they will simply summon another one.
Necromancers generally have a low amount of health. Sneak attacks or any weapon/spell that deals a decent amount of damage are effective methods of dealing with Necromancers. Silence and Dispel spells are also effective in neutralizing Necromancers.
Turn Undead is an especially useful effect in battle against Necromancers, since this will deprive them the support of their Undead minions.
[edit] Notes
- Mages Guild members will refuse to talk to you while you are wearing Necromancer's Robes, however (possibly due to a programming oversight), they will act normally if you are wearing the King of Worms' robes.
