Shadowmere lost in the wilderness

I am on an Xbox 360 and I have the armor pack for shadowmere. During the Knights of the Nine Quest I lost her. From what I have read so far Shadowmere will not go back home if lost with the armor pack because she is a different horse now. How can I find her? Someone said that it might take weeks till she shows up again but is this real weeks or virtual weeks?
