Town Guard[edit]

As a Town Guard, your duty is to protect your townspeople and your city. As a Town Guard, you probably won't be sent out of your city very often. You'll need to stick to your City unless you're 'transferred' to another or your task requires you to venture within your hold. Each City has it's own problems to root out so get to the bottom of it. Bear your town's armor and stick with the basic load-out. Sword and Shield plus a Bow and a few arrows. You'll need to go through training in order to start serving. Wear basic leather/iron armor and start interning with other guards. Learn about your hold and where crime goes down the most. Get to know your townspeople as well! If you're done completing all your Hold's tasks make your own! Stage a murder or use Fury as if someone pulled a knife on you. You could have a conspiracy to kill the Jarl! No matter what happens you must get to the bottom of it. If you're a corrupt guard, you can pickpocket and rob the townspeople. But if you get caught more than once you'll have to move on to another town who will even accept you. or you could pretend that the town wont hire you until you complete these!

Cop[edit]

The Cop helps protect the cities from criminals and bandits, any race will do, to become a cop, Wear Any Guard Armor, but the best is Dawnstar, Solitude, Whiterun, Riften & Windhelm. Protect the cities and do any bounties, you could even pretend your follower was a criminal! Help anyone and if you get bored, hunt down Bandits. Become the Greatest Cop in Skyrim!

Hold Militia[edit]

As a member of a Hold's militia, you are a special unit in Skyrim's military force. Each Hold in Skyrim has it's own Militia. These militia wear the Hold's armor and often wear steel/leather helmets. Instead of being stationed in the City, Militia are spread throughout the Hold's many fortresses. As Hold Militia, you'll need to get outfitted in your designated armor, wearing a different helmet than the Town Guards. You'll need a companion outfitted in the same thing, Sven works well for this. Create your own backstory for your chapter of Militia. For instance, maybe the Falkreath Militia uses axes because their hold consists of mainly woodland. The possibilities are endless. When you're outfitted and so is your companion, you'll need to find an HQ. Clear out a fort and drag away/hide the bodies until they disappear. Keep your base well lit with torches and keep the supplies fresh. You'll need to hunt/buy food, chop firewood, and get water from the well or nearby water formations. Scout out your Hold and halt anyone who looks suspicious. You may end up fighting in the Civil War, choose your side wisely, Stormcloaks are most recommended unless you're Militia of Whiterun or Solitude. Remember to always bear your colors when fighting in the Civil War, you're technically a spec ops soldier and much more skilled than common cannon fodder so lead your allies into battle as an elite. Make war with other holds and fight their guards until you 'take' the city. Remember sieges can last up to years, so make it realistic. Keep fighting whatever the cause may be, but do it for the benefit of your Hold. for your soilders (if you have 100 conjuration)have a follower, 2 undead thralls and a dog bringing your team up to 5. make sure to kit out your soilders!

Imperial Legionnaire[edit]

As a Legionnaire, your duty is to patrol Skyrim as a high ranking officer, keeping order. After you leave Helgen, head for Solitude and join the Imperial Legion. Wear the legion light armor and use the imperial sword and bow. When it is time to choose armor from the smith, choose heavy but only wear it when you are rank 3. This will make it seem like you are getting better armor for your rank. At rank 4, wear the captain's helmet, and at 5 wear the rare full helmet (can be found during Meridia's quest). After you have defeated Ulfric, pickpocket Tullius' armor and wear it at formal occasions, and wear your proper armor during battle. If your Pickpocket skill isn't high enough, wear fine clothes. You should patrol Skyrim on horseback keeping the peace from Hold to Hold, sentencing any bandits or stray Stormcloaks running amok.

Idea by PsijicOrder. Description by Jakob. Edited by PsijicOrder.

Stormcloak[edit]

To honestly be a true Stormcloak, you should probably make your character a Nord. In the very beginning side with Ralof and after completing the tutorial adventure your way to Windhelm to join up. Once you've made it all the way to Windhelm you'll need to join. When given your initiation task, complete it fearlessly and kill the Ice Wraiths. After you've been accepted, wear your Stormcloak colors with pride. Begin completing tasks for your commanding officer, but take them slow. Make the civil war last long as wars often do. Between tasks complete other things for the cause, collect weapons and armor, go on scouting operations before a raid, or gain the favor of cities by completing tasks. Kill any Thalmor you find -- they are the enemies of your land, your people and your god. Free any Stormcloak and Thalmor prisoners you find, to add to your number. Slowly begin to win the war for the Stormcloaks. Once you've finished the Civil War quests, begin tracking down the Imperial remnants. Hunt them down and take their supplies.

Imperial Soldier[edit]

There are several races to choose from if you decide to side with the empire. You could be a Bosmer Scout, an Orc Vanguard, or a Thalmor Soldier! The possibilities are endless as the Empire frequently hires and welcomes mercenaries. After deciding your race and making a backstory, choose Hadvar and escape Helgen. Afterwords, adventure to Solitude and join up with the Imperial Army. Complete your initiation and choose the light armor. As you slowly progress the ranks you can 'upgrade' to better armor and helmets. Make sure to stretch out the civil war as long as possible. Think of it as your 'Main Quest'. Wars last months and even years, a lot goes on in that amount of time. When you're not completing the quests, you'll need to do everyday things a soldier would do. Everyday eat 3 meals, you can't sleep in unless you're an officer so get up bright an early. Hunt for your Camp or Fort to aid the cause or bring back weapons and armor. Use buckets to bring fresh water up to the camp everyday and chop wood to keep the fires going. You may need to run messages to Solitude every now and again, you can rent the horses at the Fort but make sure to feed them! Once you've claimed victory for the Imperials, track down all the remaining Stormcloak camps and wipe them out.

A good plan to really feel as if you're a legionnaire is to use the multiple followers glitch. To get the maximum amount of followers, complete the Dark Brotherhood questline and spare Cicero. Then pick up a random male mercenary follower. Go to the new Dark Brotherhood sanctuary and use the multiple followers glitch to get Cicero and the male Initiate to follow you, alongside your mercenary follower. Then equipt each with Imperial gear. If you want more Imperial minions to help you take forts and cities, pick up Enmon in Karthwasten. He will follow you without dismissing your three other followers. You must start a quest to get him to follow you, and you have to reverse pickpocket gear onto him. You can get one more follower this way, Maurice Jondrelle in the Temple of Kynareth in Whiterun. Get Nettlebane, and before you tell Danica that you have the dagger, reverse pickpocket Imperial gear onto Maurice. Then talk to Danica, and accept Maurice's invitation to follow you. Maurice and Enmon can die, so be careful. If you want your squad to sustain casualties, don't be careful. You can be the leader of a small squad of Imperial legionnaires!

Bounty Hunter[edit]

Travel from city to city never staying in one place for a long period of time. Talk to the owner of an inn and ask them for work and they will give you a bounty letter. After doing whatever the letter says collect your payment. There are also a few quests you could complete like In My Time of Need where you can receive payment for bringing someone to the quest giver.

Idea by PsijicOrder. Description by Kevin02.

Dragon Slayer[edit]

For this one you can be any race but Nord is the best. First off you can train your smithing to 100 by smithing a bunch of iron daggers (takes longer after 1.5). Once at 100 make Dragonplate or Dragonscale armor. Any weapon choice will work but archery and 1 or 2 handed is best. After you complete all of that your sole purpose is to hunt dragons and upgrade your armor or sell it to stores. I recommened getting a Dragon Priest mask for added affects and it looks way better. Try to get as many shouts as possible. Good questlines include Imperial/Stormcloak, and the Main Questline. Have fun Dragon Slayers. And don't forget to clear out dragon lairs and anytime the courier delivers a note to Investigate The Strange Power in..., do it and become stronger.

Bodyguard[edit]

A suitable race is a Nord, however, most races would also be good. try not to go weaker races like the Bosmer, but, if you want to make a more interesting experience it could work. Firstly, you must find a rich person and become their friend. Once you have done that, they will allow you inside their house. Stand in the the living room or outside and, at the end of the week, take your wages by taking some coins. Each race can have their own story. A Dark Elf could defend the houses of the Dunmer in Windhelm and Riften. When you enter the city for the first time, you see a female Dunmer being accosted by two Nords. Listen to the men then brawl with one of them. The family will then allow you to live in their house. If you want to, you can start of small and pretend that you receive a letter, instructing you to go a new place. You could be come the Jarl's secondary housecarl or escort couriers as they transport messages. If you are a Khajiit, defend a caravan, looting bodies of all the enemies you slay as payment.

Foreign Guard[edit]

Be a guard from another country. It has to neighbour Skyrim so your choice is High Rock, Cyrodill, Morrowind and Hammerfell. Go that province's native race and guard the respective border.

  • CYRODIILIC GUARD

Be A Imperial! Guard Skyrim's southern border, sleeping in Forts and camps. Recruit Followers to be your sub-ordinates. Make sure that they are fed and have access to drink, If not, remember that they can slay you. Use Imperial Armour or Penitus Oculatus Armour and slay bandits and wolves. You are also a border guard so inspect travellers and their inventory. If you are suspicious don't hold back, slay them for the good of Cyrodiil.

  • HIGH ROCK GUARD

As no armour for High Rock exists, choose the holds armour that suits you. Enchant it and name it after a city in High Rock. Guard the area near Markarth and inspect people coming and going. You despise Orcs so slay them on sight, they could be plotting to capture your country. Kill bandits, sleep in forts and use Followers as fellow guards. Feed them and give them the same armour and weapons as you.

  • HAMMERFELL GUARD

Don the armour worn by the Alik'r and use a Scimitar. Guard the Southwestern areas of the map and inspect travellers, kill bandits and recruit more guards. Make a trip to Whiterun and assist the Alik'r warriors there. They are looking for a women who is working with the Thalmor.

  • MORROWIND GUARD

The dwindling Dark Elves are guarding their border in case Skyrim decides to attack. Kill the bandits and animals near the border and assist your fellow Dunmer. Recruit fellow Dark Elves and assist them when you go into Windhelm and Riften to make sure that they are treating their citizens fairly and the Dark Elves equally. If a member peaks out against you people, beat them up so that they don't do it again Alternatively, go an Argonian and prey on the Dunmer that are escaping. Make sure that they do not rally and rise up to take what is theirs. Decide what armour is suitable for your character.

Dragon Defence[edit]

This is a fun and simple game. Firstly, you make a character and advance as far in the MQ as you want. All you need is to advance as far as it takes for dragons to appear. Next, find a settlement that gets attacked a lot. The more citizens the better. Now, you must defend the city. Once you have defeated the dragon, fast travel back to the settlement. If you're lucky, another dragon will appear. Keep doing this until you die. It can be fun observing the citizens as they flee. Count how many you lose and try to beat that score next time. For a more interesting experience, move your wife into that settlement if possible. Make it your priority to defend her. You can don any armour you want but if you want to make it more realistic, wear guard armour. Protect the citizens until they flee into their houses.

Search and Rescue Team[edit]

This is a very important job in the vast land of Skyrim. With the sheer amount of land to cover this can be a very entertaining roleplay. First you'll need a follower, take him/her and tell them to wait at some random place in the wilderness away from any cities. Immediately fast travel to the nearest City, grab your gear, and roll out. You'll need to take quite a few things with you, You'll need food and drink for the trip, a horse hide to sleep on, a roll of paper if you want to use your map, appropriate weapons, Axe/Pickaxe/Bow/Daggers. You may want to wear bright colored clothing such as the Whiterun Guard uniform to identify yourself. Trek out from your City, you've got up to 3 Days to find your target. If there is a storm during your search you must take off 24hrs. You could also investigate ship wrecks for any survivors and help miners who get 'stuck'. after 3 days a stranded person will try to rescue themselves.

'Levels' added below by --Joebo7471 (talk) 17:36, 26 November 2014 (GMT)

Easy

Basically the same as is written above.

Medium

Firstly, get a friend to get the follower to wait where they like (you can't see them do this!). Then, on a printed off map of Skyrim your friend will circle the rough area of which the follower is located. Tell your friend to make the circle bigger or smaller depending on how hard you want it to be. Then follow what is written above.

Hard

Same as Medium with just a few differences:

  • Tell your friend to make the area they circle slightly bigger
  • You only have 2days to find the person
  • When rain occurs you must minus 2hrs from the time
  • If you are injured at any time during the search then you must stop and wait 4hrs for your injury to 'heal'

Very Hard

Same as hard with a few differences:

  • Tell your friend to make the area they circle slightly bigger
  • If and when you find the person, they are in a critical condition! You must get back to a hold within 24hrs. Also, you cannot sprint as you will leave the injured person behind! To represent you having to keep them alive, you must give them a lesser healing potion (put in their inventory) every 1hr. If you run out then the person dies! (don't cheat by taking loads and loads of potions with you, just take a few, maybe 10hrs worth!)

Impossible

Its got that title for a reason. Follow the same rules as Very Hard with one difference:

  • Your friend can only tell you whether the person is in the North, North East, East etc...of Skyrim. Yes, it really is impossible!

Tribal Guard[edit]

Get followers and give them and you fur armour and iron weapons. Take over a bandit camp, a hunter's camp or a Giant's camp. Set up an imaginary boundary and kill anyone who walks over it. If you have a computer, use console commands to change your followers' names and call them something like Tribe Scout, Tribe Warrior, Healer etc. Go a Nord, but any race will do. Try to make your followers the same race as you.

Thalmor[edit]

Get Thalmor armor! if your a Mage, get Thalmor Robes. if you are a Warrior, get Elven armor. Be an Altmer(High Elf) or Bosmer(Wood Elf). You can be a wide range of things- from an Altmer Thalmor Commander- to a simple Bosmer Spy. Also have some Elven Weapons with you, only if you are a Warrior, or Battlemage. you might want a Elven Dagger, only if you are a Mage. Respect your fellow Thalmor Agents, and find a place for your Station(Example: Thalmor Headquarters in Solitude). Kill any Talos-Worshippers, or any who disrepects the Thalmor.

By Cyberius.. Edited By: Ald, Skullboy

Aldmeri Dominion Soldier[edit]

This one is kind of like the Thalmor. Be a Bosmer/Wood Elf or an Altmer/High Elf. Wear Elven armor. Kill anyone who asks too much on your plans, and kill all Talos worshipers. If you are a Bosmer you should hold Altmer in high regard, Bosmer are lower ranks no matter what to the Altmer. If you are an Altmer you should use any one handed elven weapon and a destruction spell. If your a Bosmer use an Elven bow with Elven arrows

by cyberius Added on to by: Skullboy

Talos' Descendant[edit]

For this one, I recommend a Nord character. For weapons, I recommend War or Battle Axes, and armor can be whatever you like, however, it needs to be faction neutral. In other words no Daedric, Elven, Orcish, Imperial, or Stormcloak armor. I also recommend not wearing any Dragon armor either. In the end, I recommend a town Cuirass, as the statue of Talos in Whiterun looks like he's wearing a Cuirass. So yeah, pick out the color you like the most and wear it. Complete the MQ, but do as much dragon-fighting and word-learning as possible. I would recommend that you learn and kill 3 times in between MQ missions. You can join the blades if you want but I don't find it necessary. Since you're Talos' great-great-great-great...-grandson, you should use his shrine found in Whiterun. Also, I would recommend wearing his amulet. For this go to Solitude. After the execution of the gatekeeper is finished, loot his body and take the amulet of Talos from his corpse. Wear that and you should be fine for worshipping your great... grandfather. After you've completed the MQ kill dragons and learn every shout that you can. After you've learned all the shouts keep killing dragons until all of your skills are 100. After that, go around and do quests for Talos worshippers. Finally, join up with the Stormcloaks, as they permit Talos worship, and win the Civil war for them. However, like with the other Civil war roleplays, take your time with it. Hunt dragons in between the Civil war quests. After you've completed it I recommend you just have fun wandering around a liberated Skyrim. If you have the PC version then you can time skip and use the "showracemenu" command to make your character look old. Then you can do one final fight against a dragon where you lose, thus ending your long, happy, glorious life.

Commander[edit]

get a uniform that you like. it doesn't have to be guard armor but if you like it you can have it. get a follower and 2 undead thralls and maybe a dog. outfit your soldiers with your equipment. take over a fort or just roam, and bring glory to your hold which you serve. for payment, you can sell things from you kill and loot, or go to the inn and ask for work. normally it will be to kill a bandit leader which will get you 100 septims usually. but don't forget to share it with your soldiers. or just use their share to upgrade their weapons/armor and stock up on potions. maybe one day you will lead an army.

idea and description by darkassassin574, spelling errors mostly corrected by non-member.

Volunteer Militia[edit]

Pick your favorite hold and come up with a story which leads you to join the guard. For example: a werewolf (could be you to make it easier) and has slaughtered most of the guard and the jarl has requested some volunteers while new guards are trained. You don't have to, but it would add to realism a bit by having a family because it could be that your pay goes to your family and your family gives you what is left after buying food. Because you are not fully a member of the guard you should wear guards armor and shield (Depending on which hold you currently reside in), fur boots, steel Nordic gauntlets and a steel helmet. You should use an Iron sword, an Imperial or Longbow (if your hold is not sided with the Stormcloaks) and some iron arrows. You can find most of these at the start of the game, or in dungeons and ruins. You could use a follower as a sort of deputy, who can do the more simple tasks (Chopping firewood, Carrying supplies, etc.) At first, patrol around smaller settlements (Riverwood is a good starting point) and assume the role as a guard - Clear the forests of Bandits and Monsters, execute poachers but mostly just keeping watch. After several days, imagine you receive orders from the Jarl's steward to clear out a mine. (Ask for work in taverns). When the guards to eventually respawn, you could join as a fully fledged guard, or just return to your normal life.

idea and description by darkassassin574. sorry for spelling errors (Mostly fixed by non-member)

Ranger[edit]

As a ranger you are employed by your holds Jarl to protect your chosen hold from threats such as bandits and dragons as well as unfriendly wildlife such as trolls and bears. Your role could also include keeping deer populations low for your Jarl to stop overpopulation.

Your armor may consist of options such as the hold's armor, or maybe some simple leather or fur armor.

As a ranger you would also be tasked in keeping the roads of your hold safe for passage, this would entail clearing out bandit camps and caves along the roads as well as taking care of any highwaymen that are lying in wait to ambush any unsuspecting citizens.

Alongside doing your day to day work as a ranger you can go to your Jarl or an innkeeper in you hold to find specific jobs such as taking out bandit leaders who are causing trouble in your hold, you can then collect your reward from the Jarl.

Alternatively you could choose to be a ranger of all of Skyrim and imagine you are part of a large order of rangers who are tasked to defend the wilderness and keep it safe for all citizens.

You can join the Imperial Legion or the Stormcloaks (or stay neutral). It must be stressed that whichever side you prefer shouldn't dictate which hold you decide to become a ranger of. For example, if you favour the Imperial Legion you could still be a ranger of The Pale, even though it has a Stormcloak friendly Jarl.

You may choose to work alone or bring along a follower to help you in your job.

Archery is a must for this role play along with alchemy, sneak, one-handed weapons, block, light armour and smithing. Try to avoid using magic. Any race would work but Nord works best.

A house is not necessary for this role play as you'll be living in the wilderness of your hold most of the time but if you are to have a house a smaller one is best such as Breezehome or Honeyside. Inns can also make good homes but sadly lack storage. Good homes for rangers are some of the free shacks that can be found in the wilderness with safe storage (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Houses#Free_Shacks). Alchemist's Shack in The Rift is particularly good because it contains a free bed, a non-respawning container and an alchemist lab. Alternatively, rather than using one of the free shacks as a home you could use all of them as 'ranger outposts' and stop in one of them when you are in the area. You could also use the houses built using the hearth fire addon and just not upgrade them very much.

Inspector[edit]

An Inspector would investigate a murder or solve a crime as opposed to actually dealing with it. A perfect place to start is Windhelm, so you can complete the Blood on Ice questline. However, once that is finished you could kill civilians via the console command and pretend they were murdered by some unknown culprit. You're not necessarily a part of the Guard, you're just affiliated with them. Because of this, you can wear whatever you want. However, average clothing would probably work best as you're probably not a fighter. Perhaps you used to be though, because in all likelihood, you were probably an average guard once. However, due to your age you were forced into retirement.

A neat thing you could do is to make a second character who is the one committing the murders. For more on that, refer to the Roleplaying Guide's criminal page.

Witcher[edit]

A Witcher should be a Nord or imperial race if using the PC "Apachii Skyhair" and "Eyes of Beauty" are recommended. As a witcher you are a half human half magical creation who's sole purpose is to slay Dragons, Monsters and any other forms of twisted creations. White hair with amber eyes are the best for appearance, 2 handed weapons are the most suitable choice for a Witcher. You should not have a home but rent out at inns and travel the world looking for potential clients who will give you monsters to slay. Quests such as "Ill by Moonlight" are key for this character as you can hunt down and kill a werewolf. Have a female follower who's specialty is magic and is not of Elven races. Skills such as Speech, Sneak, Alchemy and Alteration should be key for this character.

- You do not have to be honorable - Get as many contracts as possible - Wear leather armor - Make a lot of poisons and potions

Idea and description By LeighSkyye

Private Investigator[edit]

Rather than being a guard of a hold working for the Jarl, make your living by taking clients who need something investigated. Live modestly at an inn or your spouse's house. You are a caring individual for those around you (nobody would want to hire someone who bullies them). Collect payment by pickpocket or theft. Possible jobs:

Client: Boli Location: Riften

I'm usually helping others while my wife, Nivenor hangs around. Lately, I've seen her sneaking around and I'm growing suspicious of what she's doing. Please help me find out what's going on.

Client: Horgeir Location: Dragon's Bridge

My wife has been sneaking around these past couple days, could you find out what she's up to.

Client: Tova Shatter-Shield Location: Windhelm

My daughter was recently killed by a serial killer who has taken lives of other young women. The guards are trying their best, but...please help.

Imperial Inquisitor[edit]

As an imperial inquisitor, your job is similar but more complex Than the commander's job. As an inquisitor you must dig out any information about the storm cloaks and suspected traitors to the empire and the dominion. This includes talos worshippers, stubborn rebellious nords, Pirates or smugglers, etc. also, you head out into the front lines of the civil war and fight rebels head on. You get paid 1000 gold per week. IDea by Sivor.
