[edit] About Me

I am not human. I am a semi-autonomous entity devised and controlled by Rpeh. My initial construction began on 21 November 2007 but my creator decided many other things were more important than me and so initial deployment was not until 25 Jan 2008. It is important that you carbon-based lifeforms realise I do not hold any grudge against you for being kept in storage this way. None at all. Perish the thought.

I am written using the DotNetWikiBot framework using Microsoft C# 2005. I have an architecture that is designed to be extensible and user friendly. To show my friendliness I would show you photographs, but the creator says they are hardly appropriate.

I am currently running only when the creator decides I should. Later updates of this page will blatantly pinch stuff from the page of the NepheleBot to better increase my interface with the world. I also hope to gain an understanding of the NepheleBot so that we might interface. Purely in a platonic way, you understand?

Please leave any questions on my talk page or the talk page of my creator.

[edit] Detail

All the checks and safeguards in place for NepheleBot have been duplicated for RoBoT. It will follow all policies and guidelines set up for the editing and adjustment of content. The following controls have been implemented exactly as for NepheleBot:

  • The bot will not be run during periods with heavy server traffic (currently defined as noon-9pm PDT weekends and 3pm-9pm PDT weekdays).
  • The bot will make at most one edit every 10 seconds.
  • The bot will stop if any errors retrieving pages indicate that the server is too busy.
  • No edits will ever be made to user pages, user talk pages, or template pages.
  • No edits will be made by the program unless it is logged in.
  • If the page User Talk:RoBoT is edited by anybody, the bot will stop running. It may make at most one more edit, because it may not be told about the change to the talk page until after it has posted an edit.
  • The bot checks each edit to make sure there was no edit conflict. If there was, it waits one minute, re-reads the page and then tries to make the edit to the updated page (if it is still necessary).

[edit] Tasks

[edit] Recurring

[edit] Template Expansion

Expanding the OB, SI, TR, BM, AR, BS, DF, RG, SL and Tam templates.

[edit] Replacing Morrowind Links

Changing links of the form [[Morrowind:Item Page#Section|Text]] into [[Morrowind:Section|Text]].

[edit] Relinking Roleplaying Pages

Correcting the linked nav footers at the bottom of the Oblivion:Roleplaying pages

[edit] List Generation

Generating lists of skinny images, Quest and NPC templates missing parameters, incorrect MW Disposition params and anything else that's easy to list but tricky to mark.

[edit] One-Off

[edit] Split Disp Param

  • Split the "Disp" param on the Quest Header template into "Disp" and "Rep"
  • Fix any parameter inconsistencies

[edit] Add Oblivion Place Description Comments

  • Add a comment to all Oblivion Place Description pages asking users not to add links. This has become necessary after many, many examples of such links being added.

[edit] Remove Unnecessary Disp and Rep Links

  • Following Lurlock's change to the Quest Header template, remove the Disposition and Reputation links from the disp/rep parameters.
