Welcome[edit]

Hello Athf! Welcome to UESPWiki! It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games on the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! —Legoless (talk) 17:40, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

Randomly generated names in Daggerfall.[edit]

With a very few exceptions all names in Daggerfall are randomly generated. This includes quite a few of the rulers of the baronies and kingdoms too. —MortenOSlash (talk) 11:59, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

The ruler of Abidon-Gora has, for three tests, been called "Gilpta" in my case when looking at him in-game. - KINMUNETALK﴿ 12:03, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
My mistake. As nobody challenged the undoing of "Lhertta" as ruler of Pothago, I deducted that since bothe "Lhertta" and "Gilpta" were consistent with randomly generated names, both were. —MortenOSlash (talk) 12:20, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
Yes... Pothago has been randomized for me. I would note, though, that in my case, both times the ruler was male. - KINMUNETALK﴿ 12:30, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
My apologies, Athf, for excessivley using your talk page. I was looking at a male regal figure in Pothago. Standing in the same room, however, was noble-looking woman... called "Lhertta". I feel that Athf is on to something here. - KINMUNETALK﴿ 12:34, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

() Daggerfall is a consistent world, it isn't procedurally generated each playthrough. However, random NPCs don't have factions and don't need articles. "Unknown ruler" is perhaps not the best wording to convey this, but starting to note random names would be a big change to the namespace that should be discussed first. —Legoless (talk) 22:53, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

So, since the we know the name, as it comes up consistently, but the character is treated by the game as a random NPC, the template needs a change in some way if we are going to add it? —MortenOSlash (talk) 07:38, 7 November 2016 (UTC)

Daggerfall Quests[edit]

Unfortunately, every single one of your recent edits was a backwards step to the pages and I reverted them all. Pages that rely heavily on images for instructions are not the best looking, but it is a feature of Daggerfall namespace. Pages are not improved by putting them into tables, and it is contrary to the sites text-based approach. Yes, I know it still contains text, but text within tables is not the same thing as written articles. Tables can be ugly, and they do nothing to the layout of the pages as the text is still beside the image, with clear separation between each section, so there is no need to use tables when their purpose is defunct.

An extra issue appeared with Journey to Aetherius, not one that comes up too often, but an important one. It is a Featured Article, meaning it has been chosen and accepted as one of our stand-out articles and worthy of presentation on the front page. The main point of this being that major structural changes to a Featured Article need to be discussed, as it could lose its Featured status in the process. As consistency is important on wikis, it would be prudent to test any proposed changes on that page's talk page before trying to make mass structural changes to the others.
