I think I got what you're talking about. I've never heard of this glitch; I might have to check it out sometime... -- Jplatinum16 16:09, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

jplatinum16[edit]

no problem i tried to start a page on madness if you want to check it out, but glad to be helping people when i just started esp wiki. That glitch has more complicated uses to --Assasin n00b154 16:33, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

Well, the site actually already has a page for Madness Ore, and even Amber, making your page a little redundant. -- Jplatinum16 17:08, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

Sandbox Edit[edit]

I hope you don't mind, I just edited your roleplaying sandbox to add pre-loaded text to the page created when you click the button. Robin Hoodtalk 02:24, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

No problem. Good thing I wasn't editing the page at the same time, though now I'll have to change the info on the page accordingly. -- Jplatinum16 02:32, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
It can probably stay pretty close to what it says now. If they create a second idea on the same page, they'll still have to do a copy & paste; the preload just makes it that much easier to do the first one. Robin Hoodtalk 02:50, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
Duly noted ;) -- Jplatinum16 02:56, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Thank-you :)[edit]

Thanks for the welcome XD Appreciated :D Kylogorath 17:29, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

No problem! I'd love to hear about the Knight of Order Role-Play idea you had, it was really creative. Maybe you could post your role-play using the new system; I'm sure others would love to read it. -- Jplatinum16 02:10, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
Thanks :), I did get really excited when I found an anagram of 'Frodo Baggins' in the back of the Macabre Manifest, but when I looked up the book I saw it had already been documented :(, by the way I found the part in the welcome about User Boxes very helpful, so thanks again XD... Just Wanted To Let You Know[edit]

You're in this one here. How do you like it so far?--Ghurhak gro-Demril or TAOYes? 20:37, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

Loving it so far. I'm really curious as to how the PlatinumBlade will fit into the upcoming story. -- Jplatinum16 17:06, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
I'm glad you like it! as for the Platinum Blade fits in: that's going to be... Interesting. There are some power struggles going on that aren't obvious right now.--Ghurhak gro-Demril or TAOYes? 17:18, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

Roleplaying[edit]

I'm sorry if this was not the right place to put this but I had a question and on my talk page you said I could ask you so here goes. I used the roleplaying template. I went to edit my roleplay after I submit it and it wouldn't let me. Why is this? It said only registered users can edit it but I obviously am a user and I WROTE it! If we can't even edit our own roleplays than what is the point in having them? I hope you can tell me something new because if I can't edit my own artical I don't even know why I put it there! It's not like were going to vandalize/mess-up our own pages! If there is anything you can do or someone I can ask plese tell me. Thank you for you time.--Emperor Ray IV 16:44, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

It's a problem with the template I think. Until I can get it to work, you're going to have to edit the section that says Orcish Warlord instead. That should allow you to edit. -- Jplatinum16 17:06, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

Ok. Unfortunaly I must have put the template above the writing but under orcish warlord so I can't do anything now. I know your probably on it but maybe a system where only the writer can edit his page. You can I know you have a life and things to do but if you can, pleace make haste with that issue. Thank you--Emperor Ray IV 17:11, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

Just click the edit tab at the top of the page. If you click the edit tab next to it you're editing the template (I think) and that's why it's semi-protected.--Ghurhak gro-Demril or TAOYes? 17:21, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

Test[edit]

Since you are online right now (I watch Recent Changes), can you take this test and tell me how much you scored? --Rigas Papadopoulos • Talk to meMy work 14:38, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

I'll be sure to do it tonight. -- Jplatinum16 16:17, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
Thank you. --Rigas Papadopoulos • Talk to meMy work 16:19, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Fatleg's Dropoff = None has[edit]

"None Has" is correct grammar. "None" is not plural. Check the same sentence with "One of them has" and you will see what I mean. You need to drop the prepositional phrase and it becomes "One has" or "None has". --Brf 19:24, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

It's not that simple. rpeh •TCE 20:25, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
So, according to "Motivated Grammar", either is acceptable. I had always been taught to use "None is", or to drop the prepositional phrase when in doubt. --Brf 20:47, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
I've always been taught to use the plural, but I guess we both learned today that either is correct in this case. -- Jplatinum16 02:08, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
I also looked it up while patrolling it and discovered the same thing. I'd never been taught either that I can recall, but both sounded right, so I was confused. Several sites mentioned that either is acceptable and, like Motivated Grammar, also mentioned specific rules or common-usage scenarios where one or the other is used. One of those suggested a guideline of using the nearest noun to decide. Since that's "four merchants", I left it as plural. Robin Hoodtalk 03:18, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Err... Are you referring to the phrase "...although none of them have much gold."? If so nothings wrong with it that I can see. Otherwise where is this (I.E What page)?--Ghurhak gro-Demril or TAOYes? 03:43, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Yes, that's what we're referring to. Look at the last few edits for the page, and you'll see why it came up. Robin Hoodtalk 04:07, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! As far as I can tell either one should work fine but let's leave it as it is for now.--Ghurhak gro-Demril or TAOYes? 04:12, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Yes. "None" is not actually plural. Since "none" is the subject of the sentence, not "them" which is in the prepositional phrase, then "has" is actually correct, rather than "have". But that has become more ambiguous nowadays. If you say "Not One", rather than "None", then it is more obvious that "has" is correct. --Brf 04:18, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

() Yes, but changing to "not one" changes the wording and therefore the rules. If you look at rpeh's link, just under the table, in the paragraph starting "But not everyone agrees...", they cover this. Robin Hoodtalk 07:47, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Congratulations![edit]

You have been given a Bronze Star!

User Pages and Roleplaying[edit]

Heyla! The Userification system for roleplaying has reached the three month mark and is up for review. You came up with it so you should have a chance to take a look at this for sure.--Ghurhak gro-Demril or TAOYes? 17:23, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

Problem![edit]

Hey J! I just noticed that the semi-protection padlock now appears on some NPC-pages (example). Something is rotten. Better wait with the padlocks until we have solved this - and I have no idea what is going on. --Krusty 20:50, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, I think it's my fault somehow. I'll hold off for now. -- Jplatinum16 20:55, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
Umm... yeah, I think it would be best to get someone to check this out quickly. Now pages such as this are acting wonky. :'( -- Jplatinum16 21:03, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
That one is not using the NPC templates in its table. It looks like the faction template is broken. --Brf 21:11, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
Maybe there is an extra carriage-return at the top. Maybe try removing the carriage-return after the line you added. --Brf 21:15, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
I e-mailed rpeh about it as well. --Krusty 21:26, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
Good; I wonder if it's the noinclude tags not working right, but it seems weird that the tags would be the problem. -- Jplatinum16 21:28, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

() I doubt it is important as I know virtually nothing about page protection but when I logged out the semi-protection padlock went away and I could edit the page while logged out. I'm just saying it because I know that doesn't happen on Wikipedia. Sorry if my two cents were worthless. --AKB Talk 21:30, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

The markup for the semi-protect icon is showing up at the same spot as the "nowrap" in the faction template. I tried to tweak that, but it did not appear to help. --Brf 21:31, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
I needed to edit the page to make it re-draw. It looks OK now. --Brf 21:52, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
I think the problem might have been that the nowrap template had both noinclude and includeonly. I am thinking that includeonly is ignored in that case, so the semi-protect, which was not enclosed with either, was included erroneously. --Brf 22:04, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
It was coming from {{SkipLink}}, where there were no <noinclude></noinclude> tags. Also, the </noinclude> should be right next to the first line of code, so for example:
<noinclude>{{protection|semi}}
</noinclude><cleanspace>

or as Brf did it (either way is fine...above is only for visual appeal when editing):

<noinclude>{{protection|semi}}</noinclude><cleanspace>
It may not cause noticeable problems at first, but eventually, it can cause some hard-to-trace-down formatting problems, as several template editors have had to find out the hard way, myself included. :) Robin Hoodtalk 22:15, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
Then that was indeed the problem with nowrap. You should remove the "includeonly" tags from that skiplink, since they do not work right with noinclude. --Brf 22:20, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
Are you sure it wasn't just the fact that there were no <noinclude> tags? I've never seen <includeonly> not work correctly. Robin Hoodtalk 22:25, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
Well.... "includeonly" means "only include what is between these tags". Since your semi-protect was not between the tags, it should not have been included. But, since there was also a "noinclude" in the same template, it breaks the "includeonly", so your semi-protect was included, even though it was not between the "includeonly". Therefore, if you have "noinclude" in the template, then "includeonly" is meaningless. It should be removed to avoid confusion. --Brf 22:31, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
You're thinking of <onlyinclude>. <includeonly> just says "don't include this text on this page", but include it any time the template is transcluded somewhere else. We use this all the time to make only the docs show up when you open a template page, and not the template itself. For a better explanation, see Wikipedia's docs. Robin Hoodtalk 22:45, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
I hate to say it, but that's the wrong template anyway: these should all be using {{TemProtect}}. Sorry - I've not been around to point this out earlier! rpeh •TCE 23:36, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

() I'd forgotten about that one. Thanks for the catch. Robin Hoodtalk 02:01, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

Well, at least this has been all figured out. I'm staying away from templates in the near future :D -- Jplatinum16 02:43, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
Actually, small changes like you were making are a great way to start to learn. Nothing went terribly wrong, and you can always revert your changes if something does. Robin Hoodtalk 03:12, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
Absolutely. The mistakes I made while learning about templates were much bigger than this! rpeh •TCE 04:25, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

Innacurate picture[edit]

As it turns out Mogens has access to the Nightblade spell list the contents of the spell list can be seen here. It is a summoned weapon. Just wanted to save you the trouble of a check. --AKB Talk 05:14, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

Ahh, so that explains it. I guess now the next useful thing would be to document his spell list :D -- Jplatinum16 05:22, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
I unfortunately can't help you with that, only thirty-nine more inventories and we will have written them all. I'll either finish them tonight or sometime in the morning. --AKB Talk 05:26, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
Well, I wouldn't want to interrupt your progress then; carry on with the excellent work! -- Jplatinum16 05:30, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
