Shivering Isles & Arrow Dupplication Glitch[edit]

I already let this post under the "Shivering talk Glitches section" My question relies on this very usefull glitch I just can't get borred with! I have a lot of fun with TES IV (for soon one year), and I am willing to try the SI expansion pack. The only thing that refrains me is will I still be able to use the glitches of the original game with no patches and especially the one mentioned above. Like the paint brush stairs, dupplication with scrolls, arena win, permanent bound items, ...) My question is : does the insatallation of SI include by default the correcting patch Version 1.2.0416 wich corrects the arrow dupplication glitch? (and the others?) thank you in advance and BRAVO for this site wich is simply AMAZING!!! Drobusto — Unsigned comment by Drobusto (talkcontribs) on 31 October 2008

All those glitches will still work after SI is installed, but there is a very serious bug (desribed here) that means you really, really should install the latest patch if you're playing SI - especially if you're going to duplicate lots of items. –RpehTCE 02:21, 1 November 2008 (EDT)

Thanks a lot for these very good news! Now I am enjoying the double pleasure of dupplicating with scrolls (much better and easier than with arrows) and playing in a new world! I will install the patch asap. :-))

Fort Istirus, OPRP[edit]

Hey, me again. I just added a walkthrough to the Fort Istirus page and I found yet another place that in my opinion deserves a screengrab. If you could please check it out (its in the NE chamber of the 2nd level) and see if its worth while I would really appreciate. Thanks in advance. --SerCenKing 16:36, 4 November 2008 (EST)

Added. Thanks! –RpehTCE 17:10, 4 November 2008 (EST)

Spell Chaining and Reflect-Proofing: "of minimal use"?[edit]

Tell me: how is being able to cast infinitley "of minimal use"? How is preventing reflected spells from hurting you "of minimal use"? You say that they're techniques, so where better to put them than Spell Making? You tell me: where should they go? --Debatra 20:06, 4 November 2008 (EST)

They're covered elsewhere already! –RpehTCE 20:58, 4 November 2008 (EST)
Where? You said "The section on Reflect-Proof spells is covered on the Dispel page and the other parts are covered elsewhere on the Useful Spells and Spell Making pages." The dispel page has that, true; but you keep deleting Spell Chaining from the pages you mentioned. How does that cover it? --Debatra 21:01, 7 November 2008 (EST)
Well it seems another editor got there before me this time. That makes at least three different editors who think Spell Stacking is essentially the same as Spell Chaining. Please stop putting that section back. –RpehTCE 11:28, 8 November 2008 (EST)
How on Earth is Spell Chaining the same as Spell Stacking????? --Debatra 00:06, 9 November 2008 (EST)
Have you actually read the Spell Stacking section? Especially the section "To fortify Magicka you may use just a simple spell with three components:"? You keep re-adding a section that is basically an expanded version of information already present and that contains a broken link. Four different editors have removed that section from the site and you're becoming annoying. I'm going to leave it this time because I'm nearing my 3 reverts but I'm sure somebody else will remove it and if they do, do NOT put it back again. If you do you'll get an official warning for edit-warring. –RpehTCE 01:53, 9 November 2008 (EST)
That tells you how to super-boost your spells; Spell Chaining lets you cast infinitely, regardless of your total Magicka. I don't see how those are the same. Please, enlighten me.

You have provided NO reason why this information is useful but others have given you reasons why it's either incorrect, covered elsewhere or just plain useless.

Taking that one point at a time:

  1. (usefulness) I say again: Spell Chaining allows infinite casting if done correctly.
  2. (incorrect) In that last edit, I fixed the inaccuracies and broken links.
  3. (covered elsewhere) Spell Chaining is mentioned elsewhere, but not explained. Though, I admit: I only searched pages with the word "Chaining". If it's covered under a different name, please, tell me where. --Debatra 02:33, 30 November 2008 (EST)

"infinite casting" of what? That whole section does nothing more than suggest a way to cast a set of spells that allows the same set of spells to be repeatedly cast! The Useful Spells page already has Chain Heal and Chain Destroy as useful examples of spell chaining.
The other point is that even if the section was indisputably correct and incredibly useful, the fact is that four other editors have deleted the content and provided reasons. Continually replacing it is needlessly disruptive, so please stop it! –RpehTCE 02:48, 30 November 2008 (EST)
"Infinite casting" of whatever spell you use the technique with. Think of it this way: Imagine you have a character that focuses on Magic. You're approaching an Oblivion Gate. Near the Gate are two Daedroth and a Xivilai. The Xivilai will, of course, summon a Clannfear, with more to replace it if it dies. You only have so much Magicka. With Chaining, you can hurl Lightning Bolts at them to your heart's content. --Debatra 03:20, 30 November 2008 (EST)

Fort Linchal, OPRP[edit]

Hey, once again me. This time I have added to the Fort Linchal page walkthrough. Would you mind following the usual routine for a screenshot? The place is in the main chamber of the second level, where there are three altars with zombie corpses. Thanks. --SerCenKing 10:26, 8 November 2008 (EST)

Done! –RpehTCE 11:27, 8 November 2008 (EST)

Thanks![edit]

Thank you for your warm welcome - even if it was via a template. Having been directed to your talk page I must say I agree with you (and the others) about the Spell Chaining section. Since you seem to be unable to delete it, I've done the honour myself. Dr Jones 13:24, 9 November 2008 (EST)

No problem. Glad to see you agree! –RpehTCE 13:54, 9 November 2008 (EST)

Ignore normal weapons - Madness/Amber[edit]

Rpeh, I don't mind that the "These weapons don't ignore Resist Normal Weapons" comments were removed, but I do believe it needs to be mentioned somewhere on UESP. There was a recent topic in the forums where eight different people discussed it before somebody finally went and tested it because no one really knew. It's not clear from the current resources. For example the scope of the current "Resist Normal Weapons" article does not seem to include SI weapons, since it links to original Oblivion-only weapons articles.

I'm open to suggestions... BFG

I just don't see that it's necessary. We don't highlight the weapons that don't bypass normal resistances, just those that do so if the page doesn't say anything it means that normal resistances apply. Let me put it another way: the resist is called "Resist normal weapons". Why is a note needed that says in effect, "This weapon works in the normal way"? It's exceptions that should be highlighted, not the rule. –RpehTCE 03:03, 15 November 2008 (EST)

Thanks ! :)[edit]

Thank you for the redirection . Im sorry if it caused any trouble . By the way , I thought your Thief of Darkness fan fiction story was brilliant . I hope Im as good as you on this one day . TheGrayFox 13:41, 15 November 2008 (EST)

It didn't cause a problem, but we've had the odd bit of confusion before with users having almost identical names - I just wanted to avoid that happening again.
Thanks for the comments about the f/f! I hope to have time to finish it off at some point... –RpehTCE 13:45, 15 November 2008 (EST)

Morrowind knowledge I have not seen on the web yet[edit]

(discussion moved to Morrowind_talk:Fortify_Fatigue)

Vampire article needs you![edit]

So Mr. Vampire Construction set classes expert, if your so knowledgeable why won't you fix the article? Oblivion:Vampire.

according to you how should I rewrite this..

"There are twenty-four varieties of Vampire, spread across the twenty-one pre-defined Classes that the Player may choose from, and three additional classes. These additional classes are : PatriarchAssassin, PatriarchSorceror, and PatriarchCrusader. With the exception of the three additional Classes (who each only have two Vampires) there are three Vampires assigned to each class. This results in a total of sixty-nine possible Vampires."

hmmm? If you believe it to be wrong then fix it already, the article is just sitting there with false information, if you are truly an expert and know what your talking about without a shadow of a doubt then by all means fix it all ready. The Unbeholden 00:28, 21 November 2008 (EST)

*cracks neck*[edit]

Ok what seems to be the problem occifer? Seriously, I have a chat client which connects directly to UESP, so don't be judging everyone who goes into our chat by what I do. As far as I remember, I wasn't on the chat on November 8th. Then again, my memory doesn't go that far. Care to refresh my memory, or have you been hittin' the bottle? DaedryonTCE 02:43, 29 November 2008 (EST)

Yes you were and I still have the logs. You came into our channel, and others, spouted a load of nonsense partly under the name "Jihad Jesus" and partly as "Daedryon". I kick-banned you from UESPwiki so you PMed me using an obscene nickname instead. Shortly afterwards we were contacted in the channel by an op, who said "a warning for all of you: there has been abuse coming from UESPUser@* hostmasks. irc operators are considering akill'ing that hostmask." When I confirmed that it was the same address you'd been using they agreed to just ban your ISP instead - I don't know if that ban is in place. Even if they have unblocked you at the ISP level, you're still banned from UESPwiki and I don't see that situation changing any time soon. –RpehTCE 02:55, 29 November 2008 (EST)
Ah Jihad Jesus. I remember now. Yeah wasn't me though. I WAS on the channel, had abit to drink and my buddy was over and he started chatting you guys up. Don't remember much else about that night though.... DaedryonTCE 02:58, 29 November 2008 (EST)

A question![edit]

Is it right that there is no page about Dareloth's house/basement and the guildmaster's quarters (Oblivion)? After some searching I only found a little entry in the Houses page, and that's all! The "Personal letter" in there is also missing from the wiki... The letter is quite interesting, as the letter starts with "To the Gray Fox," and ends with "With gratitude, -The Grey Fox" as if to make a difference between the player and the old Gray fox! Paul-Muad'Dib 10:54, 29 November 2008 (EST)

There is the page at Oblivion:Dareloth for the house. I don't know which letter you mean though. What's its full title? –RpehTCE 11:59, 29 November 2008 (EST)
Thinking about this, though - since the character Dareloth never actually appears in the game, I'm thinking maybe this page should be moved to "Dareloth's House" or "Dareloth's Basement", and made into a place page, rather than an NPC page, since there is no such NPC. Leave "Dareloth" as a redirect to the same page, and it should work. --TheRealLurlock Talk 14:46, 29 November 2008 (EST)
As Nephele said on the talk page, "The issue of whether this article should be named Dareloth or Emer Dareloth is discussed at Oblivion talk:Emer Dareloth". There isn't really a "good" solution to this question; we just have to go for "good enough". I can see arguments on both sides but I can cope with the current situation. –RpehTCE 14:49, 29 November 2008 (EST)
The full title is just "Personal Letter" and it reads:
"To the Gray Fox,
Welcome to the brand new guild hall, or should i say very old hall? It's all a matter of perspective. Feel free to move in; your things will be safe from theft in this room. Be careful about storing supplies downstairs, however, because this is also a safe haven for beggars. I'll never forget you, or maybe I already have since passing command to you... Either way, your help was Capital!
With Gratitude,
-The Grey Fox"
Another weird thing is that this is a letter... But once you open it, it's shows like a book. Maybe it's added by a mod?
Totally off-topic, but I just wondered; Why do they call him the Gray Fox? There aren't even foxes in oblivion! Paul-Muad'Dib 11:15, 30 November 2008 (EST)
It must come from a mod - there's no letter like that in the game. –RpehTCE 03:31, 1 December 2008 (EST)
