Now, the way I read it, if i download Arenasetup I get version 0.73 (I think) of Dosbox and Daggerfall. The game is then runs easily in this pre-modified version of Dosbox.

If the above is wrong (as is likely) please correct me!

What if I then downloaded the DFinstall? Do I then have two separate and different versions of Dosbox, one to run Arena and one to run Daggerfall? Or just one that adjusts to either of the games it is that I want to play?

Just wondering since it seems a bit... superfluous to have two dosboxes.

You can use any DOSbox version for run Daggerfall and Arena installed with ArenaSetup & DagerfallSetup. You need simply to edit the shorcut installed with games : "DosBox Installation Folder\DosBox.exe -conf dosbox.conf -noconsole -c -exit". The "Start In" line of the shorcut need to be the DaggerfallSetup/ArenaSetup installation folder with the dosbox.conf file.


For DFinstall, this file don't use Dosbox and don't configure it, It install only Daggerfall correctly in a folder, you need to add a Dosbox.conf file after and configure the game to play with Dosbox with a shortcut. I recommend to use directly DaggerfallSetup.

Yeah, I had confused DFinstall with Daggerfallsetup. I meant the latter.

But I'm not sure that you answered the question. If I download both Arena and Daggerfall setup will I get (Arena&Dosbox) + (Daggerfall&Dosbox) = Arena, Daggerfall and 2 Dosbox?

Well, maybe that doesn't matter. But to see if i got your example, if I want to play Arena, do i change this:
DosBox Installation Folder\DosBox.exe -conf dosbox.conf -noconsole -c -exit

to this:
ArenaSetup Installation Folder\DosBox.exe -conf dosbox.conf -noconsole -c -exit
?

If you install DaggerfallSetup and ArenaSetup, yes you will have 2 Dosbox.exe... But it is not realy a problem, Dosbox.exe = 3.6Mo only. And have 2 Dosbox don't create any conflict or other problem.

For use your already installed Dosbox with Arena, change the shorcut to :
"DosBox Installation Folder"\DosBox.exe -conf dosbox.conf -noconsole -c -exit
And keep The "Start In" line to "ArenaSetup Installation Folder".
And for Daggerfall :
"DosBox Installation Folder"\DosBox.exe -conf dosbox.conf -noconsole -c -exit
"Start In" line : "DaggerfallSetup Installation Folder".

But, in my opinion, just install and play. it is not really usefull to do that.
