I'm currently traveling through Black Marsh before going for the 7th piece of the staff (I'm about to do the Vaults of Gemin), and this morning when I tried to travel to Seafalls it just wouldn't load-- I would travel and arrive, get the text display describing the place, but when I tried to close the welcoming text I would just get a black screen and the game would freeze. I tried reloading to the previous town just before I left, but it made no difference. I tried rebooting my computer, but it made no difference. I tried traveling to other locations and they gave me no trouble. But for some reason Seafalls won't load. I'm going to try again the next time I'm traveling around that side of Black Marsh (I like to visit each city in a zone and do its ruler's quest, for the XP). If it won't load, I guess I'll restore my previous character's saves to see if he can travel there successfully, because I'm curious whether it's a problem with Seafalls in general or just some kind of data corruption in my current character's game.

It might be a good idea to grab the DOSBox version with debugger enabled and see what it reads when you get the freeze.

That's a thought! Thanks, I'll check it out. :)

It seems to be working now, though. I try to make my way through a zone by road in a certain pattern so it's easier for me to keep track of which places I've been to and which ones I still need to visit. If I have to go somewhere out of order to do a fetch, delivery, or escort quest then I avoid asking that town's ruler for a quest and go back to whatever city is next in my normal travel pattern. When I couldn't go to Seafalls the other night, I decided to take the road in the other direction and work my way west over to Stormhold so I can do the Vaults of Gemin. But then, before I started Vaults of Gemin, I decided to take another shot at Seafalls to see if it was still bugged-- and I got in! I wasn't ready to do the city ruler's quest yet, since it no longer fit my updated travel pattern, but I visited a few houses and roamed about outside of town a bit looking for keeps and crypts to loot, then headed back to Vaults of Gemin.

I'm just happy that Seafalls didn't actually fall into the sea, or whatever the problem was. I think it was the first time I've ever experienced that issue. The game normally runs extremely well for me; it very rarely crashes or glitches out, especially now that I know not to sell or repair any gear I've got equipped. In that respect, it helps that I decided to sell all of my armor and weapons-- save for the Ebony Flail of Luck that I never use but can't bring myself to sell-- and just run around in my magic-user's dress punching everything with my bare fists, so I'll have more room in my inventory to pick up loot. :)
