What are your thoughts of this book that came with the physical Imperial Edition of The Elder Scrolls Online?

Personally, I love it, from its physical style (just like an a book of old,) to the writing, artwork and snide snippets inside. It's as amusing to read as it is informative for a lore and rpg buff like myself.

And it has a built-in book mark, always a plus.

I'd tell you what I thought of it, if I'd read it or seen it. :/
Alas I am notoriously cheap, and since my one moral in this world is "never steal from artists or writers who contributed to ES", it's gonna be a while before I see the art, which is a big part of the guide.

Thankfully my associate Lady N is in the process of uploading the actual text at TIL, which I've been told is allowed. So yay. I'll eventually at least get to read this wonderfully biased document, which already reminds me of the PGE in the intro.

I am thoroughly enjoying it too. I've only gotten my way through the first section so far (the book is surprisingly comprehensive), although I have skimmed the entire thing, but so far I've been pretty impressed. It was by far the best item in the Imperial Edition.

On Lady N's uploading the text, there was a discussion about it on the Official Forums and she herself stated that as long as no previously unreleased images were uploaded it was fine. I am led to believe that she didn't get special permission for the IL to do so in this particular instance, so I assume that as long as those guidelines are respected others could similarly post content from the book.

I'm happy that it's apparently such a high quality tome. I was disappointed in the lack of a new Pocket Guide in Skyrim, as the ones that shipped with Redguard and Oblivion were excellent supplemental items. I understand the Hero's Guide also contains some really cool information and images.

I've been enjoying it so far too, though I'm not very far into it (I'm in the Redguard section.) Gorgeous pictures, helps someone like me who hasn't been a fan for *too* long - relatively speaking (since 2012) - understand some more of the background, and it's an entertaining read.

Of course, my book is misprinted (repeating a chunk of pages and omitting most of the Altmer section - the part I most wanted to see - in its place), and so far it doesn't look like I'll be able to get a replacement (twice I've messaged Zenimax; now I'm trying a third time making it absolutely clear that my retailer has no copies whatsoever that I can exchange it with, online or otherwise), so looks like I'll have to miss that part of it unless that part's online.

It's all going up at TIL, sooner or later. We have an army of rieklings furiously transcribing.

Zenimax actually did come through, about two months after release, and replaced it with a good copy, so I don't have to worry about missing it anymore :)
That'll be great for those who don't have a copy though and can't afford to buy one online (they seem to be somewhat uncommon, and are being sold at upwards of $50.) I still haven't finished it - have restarted reading it and am documenting it on the wiki as I do - but so far it's been a great read.

That's good. It should be posted on UESP wiki, too. The more different places it's available the better.

That would be great, the wiki is more than willing to host it.

Well, I suppose I could type the actual text of it, then, if that's okay with them to do. So far I've just been summarizing it in my sandbox, but I'm close enough to the start that I could just start over and type it up as I go.
Unless you mean to just copy over what they've done there to UESP, if they're okay with it. To be honest, that would be immensely easier than just one person doing it here.

I'm sure there are some grammatical errors on the TIL ones right now that will be amended later. If you're gonna copy/paste, might wanna at least take the time to cross reference it with the sections of lore in your guide to make sure it all matches. I'm only an Assistant librarian so I can't authorize that in the first place. It would be considered polite if you shot a message to Proweler or Lady N, I believe. I'm sure they'll say yes but it'd be better to ask.

I believe I remember reading on the Beth Forums a while back a post by Lady N saying that they were fine with it as long as ZeniMax Online's property rights were properly respected (i.e. no posting of images from the book not otherwise available to the public).

Still, Lady N is approachable enough that it wouldn't hurt to send a message. If and when I get the time I'll run over the text too for proofing, if it'll help.

If I post any errors I find here will you be able to use that for the IL, Pilaf?

Yes, I certainly will use that information, especially as I lack a physical copy myself.

Hey, old thread, sorry.

The full Emperor's Guide is up on TIL for those interested.

Legoless and I are talking about getting it on UESP as well.

We're gonna get to work on the Hero's Guide, soon as we can.

Still a fair way away from publication, but how do you think you'll treat these if they incorpoerate a lot of text already featured in-game?

I definitely will get a couple (probably not all, however) so count me in to help with that project (even if other commitments permit only as much as sharing images of my copy with someone with more time to transpose the text).

According to Gstaff, those books will only contain texts from within the games, so we shouldn't need to add anything new.

That's a little disappointing.
