Yo.

Might be old-age, might be something else,

The discord seems quite active, but it seems to be primarily based on ESO, or lore from ESO.

This thread doesn't actually deserve it's own thread, but it's almost like a census.

Who actually still checks these forums. Newbies welcome, oldies welcome.

I'd love to get these up and running again, but if people only check them once a month, not much point in the effort, yeah?

If you "frequent" these pages, leave a damn comment, let's try and move this [&@%!] along. Get things up and running again.

I try to check these forums fairly often, although I admittedly don't post much (or at all). The main reason I go here rather than Discord is because you can't lurk there or read posts without creating an account.

I check fairly frequently. Tho obviously I spend substantially more time over in discord.

Side note its not just ESO tho #lore is fairly broad on where it may go

You can avoid it by hanging out in the non-ESO channels if you don't play that game.

I haven't even checked out the Discord yet. I've used Discord for some of the guilds I'm a member of in ESO, but I don't care for hanging out in Discord chat any more than I care for getting sucked into chat in the game. Not that I'm against chat, but if I'm playing a game then I'd like to focus on the game, not be distracted by chat. I'm not much for texting on cell phones, either-- I'll text a family member or friend if there's a need, but in most cases I'd prefer to just talk on the phone with them.

On the other hand, I check in on the forums pretty regularly.

I don't have anything against Discord, I use it quite a bit for other things, but I just find it hard to follow a conversation/discussion with that many messages coming through so quickly. I miss the kinda slower pace of the forums, where you can read everything at your own pace, without other stuff popping up in between.

Don't really think they'll be coming back though unfortunately, though it's nice to see that a few folks are still hanging around.

Ya I personally prefer the slower, more substantial posts of the forum when it comes to topic discussions.

Where I find Discord chat shines is the same way our old chatroom shined, general banter n more fluid conversations

For what it's worth the forums have generally tended to get a lot more active when a new game is announced, before gradually slowing down post-release. Given the long hiatus the main series has been on since 2012, it shouldn't really be surprising that the forums have gone into hibernation, but I would bet my bottom dollar that they'll be a hive of activity again when a new game is announced. I'm enjoying ESO and continue to replay Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim, so I know I'll be back when there's a new game to discuss.

Ya thats the hope. ESO never brought in the wave bc it had ingame chat or people wanted immediate discussions.

Speaking of have you tried out Enderal for Skyrim? Its like a whole new game in of itself

I check in weekly. Sadly, much if my activity has been reduced to reporting spambots.

I got chat rooms and online rpgs out of my system before Facebook existed, much less the likes of Discord and ESO. It's a forum for me until they cut the lights and bolt the door. Though, I would probably play ESO if I had the time.

Tbf the GRPD group made our own private RP discord server <.< (tho its every bit as slow pace as you could remember)

And the uesp discord is still nice but it will never scratch that same itch from forum lore discussions. I like paragraphs worth of theory or disputes, not one word comments

(Also thanks for the reports ^-^ every week or so I try and make an effort clean things out and track multi-accounts. Some things never change)

I don't check here very often because there's not much to check, haha. And I mostly just check the GD 'cause that's all I really care about.

I'd love to see the Forums active like they were, but the internet isn't what it used to be, so idk if there's any hope in trying to bring back what once was.

If people are around chatting I'll try join in, but tbh I'd only be here for the chatting 'cause I don't really play that much TES these days.

New member here (to the site and to Elder Scrolls in general). I'd been told that these forums were a prime meeting point for Elder Scrolls discussion, as well as all the detailed wiki info, so that's why I signed up. Was a bit taken aback to see that many threads (and users) don't have posts any more recent than a year or more ago.
Ah well, for what it's worth I can say you've got at least one drop of new blood in today ;) I'm too old to have grown up with discord (don't even really know what it is). Forums are what I know and forums are what I'll stick with :)

I prefer forums, too.

Discord is an app for computers, tablets, and smartphones that can be useful for chatting in real time, including voice chat if you prefer that over typing and reading, so it's very popular with MMO players who want to be able to better coordinate with each other for group activities in games.

Well...other forums had taken me away from this one, but it's still worth a check-in now and again.
