I have no idea if anyone will actually see this topic anytime soon, but...
Does anyone else think that Redguard might get a free release? Both Arena and Daggerfall did, and Daggerfall is only two years older than Redguard. If it come out free with a set up installation like Arena and Daggerfall, I would probably try it out.

Thoughts?

I hope so, but unlike Arena and Daggerfall Redguard isn't easy to emulate. DOSBox isn't powerful enough, while modern machines are too powerful and don't allow for slowdown and RAM oddities that the game was designed around. As far as I'm aware, Redguard breaks once you get to Clavicus Vile's realm. To release a playable version, Bethesda would have to actually work on a port, which isn't something they're gonna do for free. I imagine they could still just release the files into the public domain and let users patch it up. There also might be copyright problems with Redguard. I think Morrowind contains third party assets that Bethesda don't actually own, and if Redguard has the same issue then a free release becomes unlikely.
