Lore:Spirit-Tale Clan
Spirit-Tale Clan was a Reachfolk clan featured in the Investigator Vale series of novels. According to the novels they lived in the Reach during the Second Era.[1]
The eponymous main character of the novel met with the Clan during her travel to Skyrim. When the caravan that was transporting her from Skingrad to Solitude continued north after a stop in Falkreath, it came under assault by a band of Reachfolk raiders. Three of the four caravan wagons were able to escape, but the fourth wagon, the wagon carrying Investigator Vale, broke an axle and was caught. Investigator protected the caravan by invoking the Reach custom of a favor for a favor. She offered her services as a puzzle solver and investigator in exchange for safe passage through the Reach. She met with the leader of the Spirit-Tale Clan, Clan Chieftain Orana, who informed her about the missing offerings for the spirits of Hroldan Ring. Some of the clans including the Spirit-Tale Clan were nigh close to war, but the investigator was able to find the culprits in mere seconds. Two young hunters and a harmless prank gone wrong. The investigator was then granted safe passage through the Reach.[1]
Although the Spirit-Tale Clan may be fictional, the Investigator Vale novels took place in real locations across Tamriel and often made reference to the current political or social climate.[2] It has been claimed events of the novels are "true-to-life" reimaginings of actual historical events.[3]
