An account of how the Count became a servant of Mephala

[The pages have crumbled... very little is readable.]

Since I found a reference in the ancient scriptures of my library to an old shrine under the crypts of my castle, I've been on a restless search. Somewhere in the vaults there must be a secret door. I have also found a place where I suspect there is a passage, but I have found no way to open it.

I got myself a troop of anxious slaves and let them hack through the wall. Behind it was only rock and earth, but I ordered them to dig further. I finally found an old wall. After this was pierced, I was finally in the premises, which must be the sanctuary. I'll explore it further.

A shrine in honor of Mephala. I've found it, and the Goddess speaks to me. She showed me a way to get immortality and infinite power. But this way will have many victims, will cost much blood. Well then, I'll go this way. The slaves on the excavation teams will be the first.

Mephala calls for my wife's life in order to create a guardian for her shrine. I'll do what Mephala requires.

This Aurilie ... she is next, the key to my immortality. I'll get her now.

I drank her blood and Mephala calls me to her shrine. I come to receive my power.

Mephala was playing with me. I am immortal until a weapon kills me. And I'm stuck in her shrine until my hand sheds another victim's blood. And the spider demon who once was my wife will kill any intruder before he can come to me. For the amusement of Mephala.

FOOTSTEPS! FINALLY, THERE IS SOMEONE-
