Quest-Related Events[edit]

Before starting the Greenshade storyline, he can be found wandering the center of the city. He walks up to the Mages Guild and speaks aloud.

Erinel: "A house of stone? But how did they get the stone to move?"
Laurosse: "They dug it up and broke it into pieces and brought it here. I saw the wagons."
Erinel: "I wonder if I could climb it."
Laurosse: "No!"
Erinel: "You're no fun!"

West of Driladan Pass, you'll come across Laurosse who'll ask you to track down Erinel who he suspects has been kidnapped. He'll give you a flute and by playing a few notes you can hear an echo of Erinels song in return. Follow the echos east of Tower Rocks Vale and you'll find the bound Erinel.

"Who are you? What are you doing here? You need to get out before the others return from their raid!"

If you did not take the quest from Laurosse yet:

Don't worry, I'll get you out of here before they get back.
"You don't understand! I may have been captured, but I don't want to be rescued! Honestly, you're as bad as Laurosse."
Who's Larousse [sic]? Your kidnapper?
"My kidn— no, ha, Laurosse couldn't kidnap a puppy that followed him home because he had a bone in his pocket.
He's my betrothed. He's ... an Altmer. Yeah, it wasn't a popular match. But he's not like the other Altmer. Divines, I miss him."
I'll help you return to him. [Starts the quest.]

After starting the quest, she will comment there's no point going back to her old life before you can ask questions:

"My old life is over. I'll miss Laurosse, but these are my people now. I can't just abandon them."

If you have the quest from Laurosse:

Don't worry, Erinel. Laurosse sent me to rescue you.
"By Y'ffre, he gave you the flute to find me? I'm sorry, but my old life is over. I was so absorbed in the little lovestruck world we made for ourselves, I forgot mine and its needs."

The rest of the dialogue is the same either way:

What are you talking about?
"The Falinesti Faithful lost a tribeswoman, and as is the custom, they sought a captive in a Mourning War to replace the lost.
I have a new life now, a new family, new duties."
Then why are you bound like a prisoner?
"It's a trial, to ensure I'm a fitting replacement for the lost tribeswoman. It's nothing for me to escape these bonds, but if I flee, they will capture another.
Besides, I belong here, not in that city of stone. I love Laurosse, but I'm a Wood Elf."
You're right. You have to do what your culture demands.
"Then you understand. Sometimes blood runs deeper than anything. Sometimes things just aren't meant to be.
Tell Laurosse I'll miss his stupid pointy face and his awful, awful poetry. Tell him I'm sorry."
No, you love him and he loves you. Don't hide behind your cultural differences.
"You sound like Laurosse. Always full of noble ideals. He's right, though. I've been afraid. I've been running from us. I'll go back to Marbruk. Maybe I'll see you there."

<Erinel runs off and throws a smoke bomb to vanish.>

Speaking with her again before leaving if you told her to stay:

"You really do need to go now. The tribe will return from raiding the Wood Orcs to check on me, and I don't want any bloodshed."

After the quest, if you convinced Erinel to stay with Laurosse, she will appear at Laurosse's camp and the two have a reunion:

Erinel: "A search party won't be necessary, Laurosse. It seems you still have much to learn about me."
Laurosse: "Erinel! I'm so glad to see you, though your presence is…something of a surprise. I should have known you'd navigate the woods with ease."
Erinel: "You should have, my sweet. And if you ever call me 'delicate' again…well, those aren't words for polite company."
Laurosse: "Indeed, my dear. You have me at a loss again."

Speaking with her after she confronts Laurosse if you told her to stay:

"You've reminded me of my purpose. I'm sorry I ever forgot it. I hope Laurosse will forgive me."

After the quest, if you convinced her to go back to Laurosse, she can be found across from her husband, who is fishing in the lake between Marbruk and Bramblebreach.

"Laurosse is so cute when he's fumbling with life skills."

Notes[edit]

  • In the pre-quest dialogue, she is supposed to be speaking with her husband Laurosse, but their schedules are different, so their dialogue occurs apart.
