Proposed Deletion[edit]

I disagree with this redirect's deletion by precedent of Lore:Parliament of Bugs, an unofficial term kept as a redirect. Mindtrait0r (talk) 15:31, 2 May 2023 (UTC)

I agree with Mindrait0r. Redirects like that do exist. Also helps user experience - in case someone wants to learn about Cockatrices, they still can find relevant information on our site, even if they don't qualify for a proper page or entry. And as an uol note its more than appropriate where it is.Tyrvarion (talk) 16:01, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
Pages which solely rely on UOL sources should not exist, per our lore guidelines. UOL sources are supplementary to already-established concepts. There is a big difference between adding a note to Lore:Mantellan Crux about the presence of cockatrices in that realm, and creating a Lore:Cockatrice redirect and pseudo bestiary entry as if they are a canonical creature that exist in TES and belong under Category:Lore-Creatures. We have established guidelines for notability which determine which creatures deserve pages or bestiary entries, and these cannot be skirted by adding bolded, anchored entries to the Notes section of an unrelated article. This is an abuse of the original rationale for that note's inclusion.
For the sake of consistency, I have gone ahead and nominated Lore:Parliament of Bugs for deletion as well. UOL-exclusive pages/sections/entries should not exist by long precedent, and I'd have thought the recent deletion proposal on Lore talk:Smith Guild would have provided clarity on this. —Legoless (talk) 17:08, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
I think it is a stretch to say that no UOL pages should exist. No UOL articles, for sure, but 'pages' broadly is contradicted by the coverage of the Uutak Mythos, for instance, or the page devoted exclusively to the coverage of Unofficial Lore. Whilst the removal of the bold is justified, I admit, the anchor and redirect should remain. The lore guidelines only mention redirects once, and their mention there makes no attempt to place UOL restrictions upon redirects. Mindtrait0r (talk) 19:05, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
Unofficial lore and fan projects are hosted in the General namespace. —Legoless (talk) 20:00, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
I guess if it is that important the redirects can be moved to the general space just to link to the lorespace, but that seems needlessly complex and borderline semantics. Mindtrait0r (talk) 20:08, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
I wouldn't be opposed to a redirect in the General namespace, where it wouldn't be included in Category:Lore-Creatures or other lorespace categories. I'm not sure I see the need though, particularly when the redirect is to an otherwise unrelated page. —Legoless (talk) 20:28, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
