Question about lvl[edit]

Hi. So this is actually the page that incited my desire to join the team.

I am wondering what is the purpose or reference for the column to the far right titled "lvl" that only contains two entries. As a user of the wiki, this was not overly obvious as to what the lvl refers to. Is it the NPC's repair level? The level of the hammer in their inventory? My initial assumption was that the page was incomplete, needed someone to gather the missing info, and provide edit updates. This is one of the very few cases of unintuitive ambiguity I have found on UESP as a wiki user.

This is my first talk page entry, and from all the very helpful contributor literature I've gone through, I believe this is the part where I click submit and wait for my post to be piranha'd?

Look, I remembered to add the signature ^_^

Sorry it took a while for someone to get to you. Before we get to Lvl, let me explain the preceding columns where the number denotes how many of the item a merchant sells. Thus a 2 under Repair Prongs means the merchant can sell only two Repair Prongs then no more. A boldfaced 1 under Master's Armorer's Hammer means the merchant restocks that amount, that is, he/she will always have one Master's Armorer's Hammer for sale.
Finally, Lvl denotes l_n_repair item, which is a leveled list. You can think of it as a random bag whose contents change depending on your character level. For example, Yambagorn gor-Shulor has a boldfaced 10 in this column, which means that, in addition to his one (non-restocking) Apprentice's Armorer's Hammer, he also sells (and restocks) ten (random) repair items:
  • At player levels 1 to 5, each of those ten repair items has a 1/2 chance of being either another Apprentice's Armorer's Hammer or a pair of Repair Prongs.
  • At player levels 6 to 11, each item has a 1/3 chance of being an Apprentice's Armorer's Hammer, a Journeyman's Armorer's Hammer or a pair of Repair Prongs.
  • At player levels 12 and above, Master's Armorer's Hammers also gets added into the "bag", which results in each item having a 1/4 chance per item type.
Unintuitive? Oh yes. Confusing? Perhaps. Leveled lists can be one of the more challenging concepts on this wiki; it's a bit more in-depth and deals with very specific game mechanics about item generation. Personally, I think it helps to think of it as a somewhat-but-not-completely-random item that depends on the player's Lvl. Salamangkero (talk) 09:38, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
