Recover Illa's lost brooch.
Quest Giver: Illa, in the Arena
Location(s): None
Reward: 15 gold
ID: ODDDesertIllaQuest

Walkthrough[edit]

Illa is the lone survivor of an attack on her village, which was destroyed by undead. She lost her favorite brooch there, and she wants to get it back. The village is located west of the Arena and northeast of the Silver Mine. There isn't much left; Millen's house is the largest, and easy to find.

Go downstairs; a rock passage leads down to some ruins. Climb down into the pit with the dropping floor plates, then go down the passage to the altar. You'll find Millen's ghost there, and he'll tell you what happened. Take the stone, go back up to the large circle at the back of the room, and throw it into the gate. Helgarth will appear, speak to you, and then lead you to a temple. Once you defeat the shadow creature, you'll return to Mephala's realm; Helgarth will have to go back to Aetherius, but will give you a stone to summon him. Go back to Millen's house and throw the stone into the gate again; this will close it for good this time, and you'll get Illa's brooch. Take it back to her for your reward.

Journal Entries[edit]

Dead or Alive (ODDDesertIllaQuest)
Stage Finishes Quest Journal Entry
10 In the Arena, I met a woman named Illa. It seems that her village was ravaged by the undead. She asked me to rescue her brooch, which she gave to a man named Millen shortly before the attack.
20 I promised to help Illa and bring her the brooch from Millen's house. Her village is located west of the Arena and northeast of the old silver mine.
30 Millen is dead. Apparently he used Illa's brooch to open a gateway to Aetherius, but he could no longer close it. Now he is dead. A female ghost came out of the gate, followed a huge shadow which took the ghost and killed Millen. He is now a ghost himself and wants me to close the gate again. For this, I need to throw the stone lying on the altar with him into the gate.
50 Helgarth! Helgarth came out of the gate in Millen's secret cellar. He wants to find Svala. It seems that she was the female spirit who was kidnapped by the shadows. Helgarth and I will find her. Together. He can feel it, we will find her.
60 Helgarth and I stand in front of a temple. From now on, I will lead.
85 Helgarth had to return to Aetherius, but he left me a stone that allows me to call him to me any time. He is available to me as a companion and help in a fight. Helgarth and the Champion of Cyrodiil - united anew. And now, on to Millen's house. The gate in his basement must still be destroyed.
90 I have thrown Millen's stone into the gate and by the look of things, it seems ready to collapse. Hopefully Illa's brooch will finally emerge like Millen promised.
95 Finally - the brooch! Illa will be pleased. I wonder if the brooch was really responsible for the gate's opening?
100 Finishes quest☑ I've given Illa's brooch back to her. But, she didn't seem to be especially happy about it. I guess she doesn't know how to rejoice from the heart during a life of privation.
  • The following empty quest stages were omitted from the table: 40, 45, 65, 70.
Notes
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • On PC It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage ODDDesertIllaQuest stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
