Recruiting into the Blades[edit]

So I want to get Mjoll recruited into the Blades, but since she does better with Two-Handed is there a way I can get her to use a battle-axe instead? Warrior916 (talk) 21:15, 6 September 2013 (GMT)

Get her to follow you, then give her one. She'll equip it when she's fighting. --Morrolan (talk) 14:20, 7 October 2013 (GMT)

"sand elske" her ring[edit]

sand elske min tak altid dine momory farvel/true love my thanks always your momory goodbye

"sand elske" means "true love" — Unsigned comment by 24.38.217.116 (talk) at 04:07 on 23 September 2013

This is already documented in the Notes section on the page. — ABCface 21:54, 23 September 2013 (GMT)

Out of curiosity,[edit]

What does "sand elske" mean, if not "true love"? Xolroc (talk) 05:31, 25 September 2013 (GMT)

I am not a native Danish speaker, but written Norwegian (my native tongue) and written Danish are of historical reasons surprisingly similar (compared to spoken), so I know enough to try to explain the nuances:
Sometimes there are two words covering more or less the same meaning, but have very different uses. The Danish word "elske" will cover verbs, meanings like "adore" and the engaging in the act of making love; but not the noun, especially the phenomena of love as such. In those occasions "kærlighed" will be used. Like the English expression "power of love" would be "kærlighedens kraft", "kærlighedens magt" or "kærlighedens styrke" depending on occasion, but the expression "I love you" would be "Jeg elsker dig". Does this answer your question?
MortenOSlash (talk) 05:37, 26 September 2013 (GMT)
Yes, that makes sense. Thank you! Xolroc (talk) 12:46, 26 September 2013 (GMT)

Reason for essential status?[edit]

Does anyone know why Mjoll was marked as essential? The only quest she's involved in is her miscellaneous favour quest; most essential NPCs are involved in major quests, which suggests that there was something planned for her. --Morrolan (talk) 14:24, 7 October 2013 (GMT)

It's not really for us to question why. There could have been some planned quest for wiping out the Thieves Guild equivalent to one to kill the Brotherhood, but any speculation is for the forums. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 17:58, 7 October 2013 (GMT)
Wasn't asking for speculation. I was asking if anyone knew the answer. If you don't have the answer to the question, then don't bother replying. --Morrolan (talk) 21:07, 7 October 2013 (GMT)
We can't prove the motives of the developer who created the NPC, nor can we decipher why some NPCs are essential for certain quests, but other aren't for similar situations. All we can factually prove is that a developer toggled the Essential flag. We can speculate about motives, but that's forum materials. That's the answer to the question: It just is. -damon  xoxo 21:18, 7 October 2013 (GMT)
That's just another way of saying "I don't know." Anyone else want to join the chorus? Three of us so far. :P --Morrolan (talk) 21:22, 7 October 2013 (GMT)
(edit conflict) The point is that you will not get an answer to your question without speculating unless it is directly from Bethesda. Why are people Essential? The answer is because they made them so. Asking why people such as Avrusa Sarethi, Boti, Deeja, Dorian, are essential is asking for speculation. Some people are involved in quests while others are not, not everyone who starts a quest is essential. The only self-evident essential people are those involved in the main quest and the main faction quests. There is a host of people who serve no particular use, or just minor miscellaneous quests who are essential, and only a handful can be traced to some unimplemented quest of more importance, all of which are documented on the Unfinished Quests page. There is no obvious reason for Mjoll to be essential, like many others, and unless there is a reason you are questioning her status, this discussion is finished on the wiki; we do not ask why without some reason, such as "is there a broken script" (which is not the case here). I am also doing the one thing I can since I replied when I should have just removed the question, closing the topic. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 21:27, 7 October 2013 (GMT)

Mjoll and the Thieves Guild[edit]

If i marry Mjoll and join the Thieves Guild will she start to dislike me? — Unsigned comment by 72.198.23.104 (talk) at 03:05 on 25 December 2013‎

I'm pretty sure that she will not begin to dislike you. Whether or not you're a member of the Thieves Guild never really comes into play with any interactions with her. Mentioning to her the first time you talk to her that you were interested in joining the Thieves Guild will cause her to greet you with some negative dialogue, but actually becoming a member has no real impact on her disposition as far as I recall. After returning her sword to her, I could use her as a follower and was greeted positively regardless of my membership in the Thieves Guild. Forfeit (talk) 05:13, 25 December 2013 (GMT)

Will she (ever) stop talking if married to?[edit]

Hello, I have always helped her with her quest but never took her with me as a follower. Now I did, and she never stops talking, so yeah she's quite talkative to say the least. LOL (I am, too, hehe) ;-) My question is, out of curiosity, will she stop talking if married to? (like e.g. Marcurio who stops talking/commenting miners, bandits when you're out exploring mines, caves etcetera, after marriage). I'm thinking of creating a male character, marrying her (not that the gender has any difference of course) ;-) Tockenen (talk) 04:56, 12 March 2014 (GMT)

Not my Mjoll, my woman knows how to talk. Sometimes she does the whole "silent wife" routine but then she'll switch back for no apparent reason to her follower dialogue... I had to kill Aerin though. I don't care how long he was Mjoll's woman. It was over and he was annoying me.

Cannot Move[edit]

I married Mjoll and I thought I had asked her to move in with me to Winstead Manor, but when I tell her to part company, she goes to Riften. When I bring up the dialogue, there is no option to move to another house. I have the house in Riften and Winstead Manor. Can anyone help? 107.194.218.9 21:21, 3 May 2014 (GMT)

Are you referring to the Hearthfire add on home? If so it already says Mjoll's dialogue is bugged there.Ebonarm (talk) 07:07, 6 May 2014 (GMT)
Regarding children...nothing about moving. Thanks, though. 107.194.218.9 00:08, 2 June 2014 (GMT)

Mjoll kills innocent people[edit]

I can't see this written anywhere but mjoll kills people that ask you for dropped armor! She has scriped lines about the item being hers and she fights them too the death. I had it happen 2 seperate times, once in the streets of riften and once in my house when we were married. I tried adding a note on her page but it was deleted, but I feel this is very relevent as she kills people involved on quests. it's not a glitch because she has lines she says. Does this happen with others? Where are any reports about this most unique and game changing action. And can someone more able then me update her page? — Unsigned comment by 76.8.115.128 (talk) at 00:52 on 17 July 2014‎

I believe this is part of a generic interaction between NPCs and not unique to Mjoll, so it's not specifically documented on her page. You can see the data here. —<({QT>> 01:02, 17 July 2014 (GMT)
Awesome thanks, only Had it with Mjoll, now I will be even more careful. I hope it's better explained somewhere, that link is technical mumbo jumbo I would never have found without help or specific searches. Now this topic isn't really a Mjoll issue, but many editors will be able to move or delete what they must! btw this wiki is awesome, Im glad to see so much achived just to better serve us gamers! — Unsigned comment by 76.8.115.128 (talk) at 21:16 on 16 July 2014

Mjoll and other characters never getting the "I'm interested" marriage dialog SOLVED[edit]

I've been playing this game a long time and never had a problem getting married at all. I think the first time I went to Riften in this particular instance, I was about level 5 because I was already planning on marrying Mjoll later in the game. So I went into the bar in Riften to listen to Maramal's speech about sinning. The thing is I was sick of hearing it so when the co-owner Argonian guy comes up and starts hassling him, I figure it's over so I just leave. Thing is I never talked to him personally though. So at level 45 I'm heading back to Fort Dawnguard, had gotten her sword, gave it to her, put on an Amulet of Mara I had gotten from near Dawnstar, approached her and nothing. I opened her speech dialog and nothing. I messed around for damn near an hour in game and searching on the net but found NO solution!! Something I had read though made me think about the fact that I HAD NOT spoken to Maramal. So I went to the temple, talked to him all the way through his dialog, went back to Mjoll and VOILA!!! She was interested. Then we got married. I am guessing this is the problem for a lot of people who were mentioning all different people they couldn't marry, that this same thing happened to them. — Unsigned comment by Crusador (talkcontribs) at 10:57 on 20 September 2014‎

Thanks, Crusador. Since this information applies to all potential marriage partners and not just Mjoll, it's more relevant to the Marriage page rather than Mjoll's specific page. The information is already documented there. — ABCface 15:05, 20 September 2014 (GMT)
