"Yeah, that's right. You're in the penal iron mine of Ushu-Kur. The Empire shipped us here in the middle of godsdamn nowhere and forgot that we ever existed. Now we work for the Hlaalu, I guess." - Tryr

Tryr is a Nord Miner and former convict found working at the Hlaalu-owned Ushu-Kur Mine. A murderer who killed a landowner who lied to him, he has come to the conclusion that while his anger was justified, the killing wasn't. He retains plenty of anger (or at least suspicion) for his current employer however, commenting on the death of the miner Joscus during Find Joscus' Body:

"House Hlaalu are responsible for that boy's death. Their negligence killed him. Those tunnels weren't safe, but they wouldn't listen to us."

He is equally alert to further lies from the powerful, and will not initially take well to you when you arrive as security for the mine from the Fighters Guild:

"You're one of the guild mercenaries that the Hlaalu have hired to supposedly protect us, huh? I'm Tryr. Let me be straight with you, %PCName. You're not welcome here. I see through the Hlaalu's lies. You're here to keep us miners in check. To beat us down should we try anything."

Tryr's suspicions come to fruition during the events of Digging Deeper, where you are ordered to break the miners' strike he is leading. You can choose either to break the strike by turning the miners against him, or side with him to ensure that the miners continue to be paid in gold, rather than Hlaalu Company Scrip. If you side with him, Tryr will be somewhat hopeful for the future when the mine is closed during The Cursed Crown. If you do not, he will just be grateful to be alive.
