Frequently Asked Questions about the game, and what to do

General

Controls

Controls Pressing Esc and going to controls can help if you don’t want to leave your game.

How do I attack?

The preset way is to hold the 2nd mouse button and move the mouse, where you move the mouse affects what type of attack you do.

How do I move around?

There are a few ways to move around, you can use the preset arrow keys, and numpad keys or you can also use your mouse, putting your pointer to the "edge" of the screen will show an arrow and if you left click they will move which ever way the arrow is.

Factions

How many factions are there?

Factions

There are six major faction types, and some of them have more "factions" with in them, like there are temples to Akatosh and the other seven, they are separate in all things, if you join one you are not a part of the other.

How do you join a faction?

The best way to join one is to do a quest for them, you can do so by going to one of their guild halls and find their "quest giver", hit talk and they should either ask if you want to do a quest, or say they don’t have one for you right now. After you do some the "join the guild" will light up and you can join.

Why cant I find the Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood?

They require you to do things before they contact you. The Thieves Guild requires you to pickpocket ten times, don’t matter if you get caught or not. You will get a letter telling you to steal something, do so and follow the letter to the buyer, you will then be a part of the Thieves Guild. The Brotherhood is similar but you need to kill three innocent citizens or fifteen town guards.

The faction don’t like me

This can be for many reasons, you have to do some quest before they let you in, or do something like steal enough etc. If you take a quest that causes you to kill a dark brotherhood member then that will cause them to like you less, and harder to join if at all possible.

Quests

I did what the quest asked now what?

Go to the quest giver and hit talk again, they will give you your reward as long as you made it back to them in time

I did the quest, and he claims I did not do it in time?

Yes, the you have x days to do the quest, this counts in till you talk to them to finish the quest, so if you kill the monster and come back after 6 days or what ever it was, it still counts as failing.

I cant do any quest, they are to hard

Many quest are out of your league at first, more so with the time limit and you don’t know what your doing. The best thing to do is merchant (shop owners) quest, as well as ones that require you to give something to someone, or get something. They tend to be easy and if any fighting it tends to be easy fights.

No one is giving me quests

This sometimes happens, it seems to be luck when someone has a quest and don’t have one.

The quest giver wont talk to me and just tells me to go away

The quest giver don’t like you, for what ever reason. If you are a bad guy and have been caught a few times then some honest people will not like your kind. It can also be because the faction your getting the quest form was a rival of a faction you did a quest for before. Which made them like you less, so much they wont deal with you.
