Ok about a week ago I added a new item location in the rate items list that quickly got deleted even though it was completely legitimate. I think I may have slightly messed up the formating so maybe thats why it got deleted. Now I added this new weapon location to rare items, this time in the proper format. I also created a new quest entry in the miscellaneous quests sections entitled Dram Bero's Daedric Weapons. I created links to this quest page on the rare items quest page which are still there.

Now however I find that some jerkoff deleted my miscellaneous quest entry. So now when someone clicks on the link on the rare items page it takes them to the misc quests page but my quest entry is gone. This is really pissing me off, I worked my ass off to add something decent to this site and someone erases it without even checking up on it. In the rare items list page there was one entry under Daedric Longbow which referred to the same quest that I added to miscellaneous quests, however until I added the quest it never actually existed on the page. What I'm trying to add is great and can't be found anywhere else on this site. I even created an account to give my entry more legitmacy but if this is how this website is run by a bunch of jerks who just delete new stuff for no fuckin reason then im not even going to bother, but this site should should remove wiki from its name cause this aint how wiki's work! I even sent an email to the owner of this site and as of yet have received no response. I managed to locate an paragraph in Morrowind:Hints section mentioning Dram Bero and his daedric weapons. However in this paragraph it never mentions which daedric weapons you can get ,further more its unlikely a person will search for Dram Bero because the person wouldn't know who Dram Bero was or what weapons he has. I think it makes sense to include a link to his little quest in the rare items section as thats where people are going go look for specific weapons. The fact that theres an entry in Hints doesn't mean there shouldn't be an entry in quests and rare items maybe thats why my entry got deleted. Either way my quest entry was more detailed and better and thats where the hint should link to if it were still there. Tell me im wrong.

Here's the exact quest I added to misc quests:

In order to get a free Daedric weapon from Dram Bero you must first visit Vassir-Didanat Cave which is just south of Balmora across a rope bridge over a river (same river that runs through Balmora). Enter Vassir-Didanat Cave and leave right away, now your character knows where Vassir-Didanat Cave is so you can go talk to Dram Bero. Dram Bero is located in Vivec, St.Olms Plaza, Haunted Manor in the basement behind a lock level 50 door. Once you start talking to Dram Bero look for a topic about Vassir-Didanat Cave and tell him where it is. He'll give you a choice of the following weapon classes; Axe, Katana, Staff, Long Bow, Short Sword (Wakizashi) or Spear. Each one of these weapons is Daedric but if you're unsure which one you want then save before you talk to Dram Bero and check each one out. Great way for a level 1 character to get a Daedric weapon.

Welcome to the UESPwiki. I've done a little research on the two things you're complaining about. On the Rare Items page, the two weapons you listed only appeared in the locations you listed as a random occurance. They won't be there in every game (this was all explained on the articles talk page) as for the quest page you added, it was actually already on the wiki under Vassir-Didanat Ebony Mine (This was explained on the Miscellaneous Quests History page). I'm sorry that there was some confusion, but in the future, please assume 'good faith' (aka the people editing the entrys were not doing it to be mean), and check the history and talk pages. If you disagree with the actions by another editor, talk to them on the articles talk page or their user talk page. --Ratwar 22:40, 19 December 2006 (EST)

Alright thanks for clearing that up, you must understand my frustration I wasn't trying to be an ass. But you have to look at it from my point of view- I didn't know to look for a special quest that would give me a daedric weapon, so I looked in the Rare items list where it should have been and it wasn't. I'm probably not the only one who has looked for more weapons on this site and been unable to find them. I actually read about the quest on another amateur site. I see now you've added the proper links to the proper page in the rare items list. Previously as I said in my first message there was no such links to the Vassir-Didinat quest on the rare items page, only a link to the Misc quests page which didn't actually have the quest listed on that page- thats why I put it in and added additional links to the rare items page under the 5 weapon classes. Thats all I really wanted done, and you did that so atleast I got something accomplished otherwise that quest would have been lost in obscruity on this site. Now if someone needs to know the location of another daedric wakizashi (like I did) they can go to the rare items list. It would be nice if the moderators would give you a reason as to why they removed your edit so that you don't have to write some pissed off message of inquiry on this talk page. If I had in fact just left it up to the moderators to fix my problem as you suggested or never had added the entry to misc quests in the first place then the rare items list would still not link to the Vassir-Didanat quest showing the locations of more daedric weapons. So no offense to you or other moderators but I think I'll stick to my guns when I know something needs to be changed.

Peace

I also have a suggestion, duplicate this site in wikipedia. I think its free and it would be a hell of a lot more reliable. It shouldn't be that hard, just a lot of copying but it would serve as a great back-up or the owner of this site could just close UESP down and save money.I'd be willing to help.

Kapasa, I'm sorry your first experiences with the wiki have been so frustrating. The Morrowind pages are in the midst of some major reorganization, which may be why some of the quest pages are a bit harder to find at the moment.
As for your complaint about "the moderators would give you a reason", I'd like to clarify that, first, the moderators (or admins as they're called around here) were not responsible for these changes; it was just other editors of the wiki who were editing those pages as they see fit. I'm the first admin to get involved in this case in any way, and even as admin I don't have any extra authority in deciding what gets put onto any page. Decisions about the content of pages is made by a consensus of the editors who contribute to the wiki (including you).
Second, the editors who made the changes did in both cases give a reason for the edits, using standard wiki procedure. In both cases, a reason for the edit was given in the page's history (which you can access from any page by clicking the "history" tab right next to the "edit" tab). And in one case, a longer explanation was given on the talk page (click the "disucssion" tab). I'm not sure how else you expect reasons to be given. Explanations for edits do not belong on the main page (i.e., on Rare Items), because the format is supposed to be encyclopedia style and should not contain explanations of edits that 99% of the page readers have no interest in. Also, it is not standard practice to explain edits on user talk pages, because then the explanation is disconnected from the actual page; it is very hard for other editors to keep track of what is going on if the explanations are scattered over 50 different user pages. Instead, standard practice on the wiki is to explain all edits either on the page's history (in the case of straightforward changes) or on the page's talk page (in the case of longer explanations).
All of this could have also been resolved if you had brought up these issues on, for example, the miscellaneous quests talk page. If you had asked there for a more detailed explanation of why your text was deleted, I'm sure an editor would have responded there, even if (or especially if) you had just phrased it as a simple question. That is how most disagreements on the wiki are addressed: by discussions on the most relevant talk page.
I hope that you will still consider continuing to contribute to the wiki. We do welcome all new editors. The content that you added was not deleted because you were an anonymous editor or because you were a new editor; it was changed because other editors had different ideas about where the information belonged. If you want to participate in discussions about where you think content belongs, or how to make it easier to find information, your opinion would be welcomed. Also, you might want to get involved in adding content to the Morrowind:Vassir-Didanat_Ebony_Mine page, for example, a description of Dram Bero and his role in the quest, details on the weapons, and links to the rare items page. All of those details appear to be missing from the quest page, and your knowledge of the quest could obviously help to make the quest page more complete. Please let me know if you have any questions. --Nephele 13:11, 20 December 2006 (EST)
