Hey, it's cool if you want to help start to switch quests over, but you've got to be sure that you remove all dependancies on redirects, then remove the redirect itself. If you can't do that, just wait for me to switch them all over (It should only take another day or two, max... It's just tedious).Fushi 15:19, 7 May 2006 (EDT)

I was just working on Fieldhouse Cave article, which has connection with Nirnroot quest. So the quest page was moved to fit new cave template. I just forget about cleansing. I should check "What links here" than place {{delete}} template. Should be better now. I'll try to correctly move another quest to prove that. :) User MXI 01:18, 8 May 2006 (EDT)

Daggerfall. advice and questions[edit]

Daggerfall. A few tips and a lot of questions.

I've been paying daggerfall on and of for years now. Many of the things on your pages I have discovered for myself and many of the things you have helped me with (thank you very much:-)). There are certain things I have noticed that I haven't seen anywhere else. Maybe I've just missed them, maybe there already known and just not in print. I'm going to write them here so feel free to do what you want with them. Hopefully the spelling isn't too much of a problem.

I know there are several ways of practicing your merchandise skill (including identify magic item and repair weapon) but this is the most legitimate way of doing it. When you come back from hacking or thieving sell all your items individually. Each time you do this you practice your merchandise skill. This has the added bonus of being able to be done anywhere as long as you have enough equipment.

I know you've commented on the ship/flip method several times as a way of restocking selves but I have found it to be a lot more useful than that. It reramdomises, resets and restocks the whole town, It's great for avoiding the law. If you accidentally sleep instead of loiter, or accidentally pick somebody’s pockets it’s a great way of getting rid of the guards. It's much faster than running and you can return back to the same location without the guards being there. Certain items are exactly the same every time you enter a town. I find this includes magic items and specific soul gems. So if you want more than one item and there's only one avadible the ship/flip method allows you to get as many as you care to. When you enter a town certain things are randomised. All shops work this way and potion sellers work this way. I've used this method to look for particular types of weapon and armour, certain misulainius equipment diamonds, bracelets etc, and for potions. Although I haven't tried this myself I believe work is also randomised if you find a commoner who usually gives out work, if you don't like the work ship/flip and they should have something different for you next time.

I often go out into the wilderness to hack a slash the wandering monsters and to pick up some first class equipment. I used to finish up in town and run to the edges of the city, and then I learned to use the travel map to travel to the city that I'm in. This immediately transports you to the out shirts of the city. This of course also resets your health, stamina and magic points.

I find the wilderness an excellent place to practice back stabbing, pick pocketing and destruction. If you rest in the wilderness sooner or later (usually sooner) a monster will turn up. They always turn up directly in front of you and they always face the same direction. I'm not sure what the direction is. It might be north for example or it might be randomly generated by it always stays the same at least until you leave the wilderness. Face the direction they face when they appear. When the next one appears they’ll have their backs to you. As long as your stealth skill is high enough and/or their awareness is low enough you should be able to sneak up to them and pick their pockets. As long as you don't move they won't detect it even if you fail, so feel free to do this as many times as you want. Alternatively If you have a minimum power destruction spell fire this at them (May not work on lower class bad guys). Again they won't notice. If you put it on steal mode at the same time you’ll practice picking there pockets as well as your destruct skill. And to finish whack them on the back with your hardest blow. So much for honour. The other advantages of the wilderness are increased chances of getting expensive weaponry, instant access to your wagon and boat and you don't have to search around for the bloody dungeon exit.

I've never heard anybody using hand to hand combat skills. Ok if you've got a lowly 5 and are only doing 1 point of damage I can understand why, but if like my present character (meat head) you have 95 and can do between 10 and 19 points of damage it becomes a realistic option. The advantage of hand to hand combat is yours hands never wear out or break and no immunity will protect your enemies. I find it handy in killing that first imp in privateers hold. It will also save you a little bit of weight. The only disadvantage is you can't enchant your hands.

The easiest witch’s coven to find is the gremoilal witches coven in the city of daggerfall. If you’re in the thief’s guild you'll have there local building marked in the bottom centre of the daggerfall city map. Go just outside the front door and look east. You'll see a smallish building right in front of you. Go in and through a few rooms and you'll find a lone witch there.

You need brute strength at the earlier levels and magic protection at the later levels. But I've found a different way to go. If you customise your character you can set it up so you gain an immense amount of hit points every turn. There’s only so much damage they can do to you. My character of 569 hit points is only killed by a single blast of magic once in a blue moon. But you can easily set your character up to get a lot more hit points than that.

That’s all the advice I can think to give. You properly already know it but if not enjoy. I don't know if you reply to individual questions but I'll give it a shot anyway. If not maybe you can refer me to somebody who can. Some of these questions may be cleared up when I get the patch. I've had limited internet access recently so I've not been able to download it.

I find it easy enough to get skills up to 95% but I find it much much harder getting pass this level. Certain skills like pick pocketing and critical strike go up to a 100 easily, but skills like stealth and long blade rarely go above 95. It’s like when it reaches this point it starts following a different system. Anything you can do to help?

You say with donations of a 1000gc's your rep in a temple goes up by 5 points. If I give 10000gc's does it go up by 50? Do I need to give 1000 10 times. Can I give all donations on the same day or do I keep needing to leave town?

What does the spy master do? Is he any real use?

If I do lots of favours for the daggerfall royal family does this increase my rep and therefore my rank with the knights of the dragon and vice versa?

My present character is not a magic user, however with the temple of julias, through magic items I can get almost all the spells I want. I'm just wondering if there’s anyway of getting soul bind or cure disease with magic items? I have access to a potion maker so I can use potions of cure disease (not very reliable).

Do the language skills actually do anything? I've got my ocism up to 35 and yet I've never been able to talk to an orc.

You say you can lower your rep with temples/guilds etc by working with their enemies but who are who are enemies or allied with whom? I can't find that info listed anywhere.

I've taken on several dark brotherhood missions where I was hunting another assassin but I ended up completing the mission by killing a giant rat. Not that I mind (It means I can hear them therefore making it easier to find them). I just wondering if there was a reason for this?

I've found a very odd man at orsinium. If you fast travel from daggerfall to orsinium when you arrive outside the dungeon look left. Go into the first (it's smallish) building on the left of the dungeon. In the building you'll find a white bearded man with a staff. When you click to talk you get 3 options, spy master, talk, join guild. Spy master does nothing talk gives me a regular conversation, join guild crashes the game. I can't use the auto map because it's in the wilderness. I can't find out anything about this guy. Who is he?

I'm trying to get hold of all the special magical artefact obtained by the knight’s quests. I've got hold of Auriel's Bow and Auriel's Shield but I can't seem the get the other 5. Every time I get to the witch she offers me a quest for the bow or shield. At the moment I'm bottom rank of the knights of the dragon. Is there a random element? Do I need a higher rank or be in a different knights guild?

I've completed the first set of quests and put king L (I've forgotten the dead king of daggerfalls name) to rest by killing the bad guy baron; however it all still appears on my log. Is there anything else I need to do?

I've found some contradictions between "guilds and reputations" and "knightly orders". "Guilds and reputations" seems to claim there are more than 8 joinable knights’ guilds. Is "knightly orders" the more reliable document?

One of my saves seems to have become corrupted. I'm seeing a lot of blue in dungeons and a lot of green in town. When ever there is a light source it seems to replace the colour. Is there anything I can do about this?

Well that’s the end of the questions. If you can't help me out or are too busy maybe you can refer me to somebody else. Now if you’re interested a little bit about my character. Meathead, nord, custom class, level 29. All stats are at 100 except willpower (61), intelligence (60), and personality (31). I have immunity to magic and paralyse. I have critical weakness to fire and frost (rarely encountered). Phobia of animals, inability to regenerate magic points and I'm forbidden to use any shields except tower. I also gain 17 hit points (+5 endurance) every level advance. It presently totals 569. I have a complete set of dearee armour and a spare set in my ship (including all weapons) and I have all special artefacts except the 5 knight quest obtained ones which I mentioned earlier. I'm rank 4 in the thief’s guild, rank 2 in the dark brotherhood, and rank 9 in the school of jullias. If you’re interested maybe I can send you a copy of the save.

Thank you for your time and any help you can give me.
