Albecius Relandrin's Log, II
by Albecius Relandrin
An excerpt from Albecius Relandrin's journal found in the entrance of Frostcrag Spire

4E 48 - 30th of Heartfire
My four apprentices, including my niece, Cara, and I have finally gained access to this legendary spire. My students have been a big help in setting up our camp outside the spire, though, I would never tell them that, less their egos grow and they start making foolish mistakes.

I have forbade any of them from entering the spire unless I accompany them, and even then, with only the most upmost care. Who knows what defences and incantations the last resident, or residents, have left behind. Rumor has it that it's been nearly fifty years since the last owner has stepped foot here. I hope they're right. I do not wish to run into any mad old wizards or contemptful spirits while we explore what was left behind.

Our first trip into the tower can only be described as a Saturalia in itself, for me at least. Not only that, but it proved that no initial safeguards were left on the door. Whoever the last owner was seemed to have just up and left, and in a hurry too. In fact, there seems to be a lack of anything living here, and no fires remained lit. What did remain, however, were unusual amounts of magical artifacts of all kinds. Staves, soul gems, documents... all oddly untouched.

This worries me greatly. How can brigands and vagabonds have not already pilfered this place. It feels almost too well preserved.

We must proceed with caution.
