[edit] Question

It seems to me that elemental damage spells do not affect the PC if they're cast directly at him. This includes area effect spells. The only way to damage the PC if the PC is caught in an elemental damage area effect spell not cast directly at him.

[edit] Damage Calculation

I'm curious how damage is reduced in scenarios where it would result in less one point, due to the percentage of Resistance applied - or result in less than one-point-per-second. . .Example: say a character casts on himself Resist Magicka 10% for 60 seconds, and then casts Star Curse (Serpent birthsign). When the Curse wears off after 30 seconds, he will have only taken 27 points of damaged health, correct? I posed a similar question on the Fire Shield page. I guess I'm mostly curious whether there's a default 1-point damage reduction when "Resist" whatever is cast against a corresponding attack when dealing with really low-percentage resistance against low-numbered magical/elemental attacks by such opponents as Shalk, Kwama Warriors, or diseased Alit. If not, it would seem the Resistance spells are only of any benefit in high doses and/or against high-level attacks, and of little value early in a game. Thanks for any response.
