[edit] Detailed Walkthrough
[edit] Sickly Bernice
In the southern section of Crucible there is an inn, not quite rumored around town for its cleanliness, called Sickly Bernice's Taphouse. Its proprietor of course being, Sickly Bernice, talk to her and she'll explain about her "deathly" condition. Fortunately, she has been graciously told where a cure is located. "A traveler came in one evening and said he would tell me where a cure was located, if I let him stay in one of the rooms for free", she says. She'll give you 'Bernice's Empty Flask' and explain you need to go to Knotty Bramble and find the pool of water with the Grummite altar in the middle which contains aquanostrum, the antidote she needs to be cured.
[edit] Knotty Bramble
Knotty Bramble is a cave southeast from the Gates of Madness, east of Fellmoor, slightly off Pinnacle Road. It consists of three zones all quite heavily guarded by Grummites, however, the pool of water with the altar is just located in the second zone 'Knotty Bramble Hatchery'. Following your quest marker, just wade into the pool toward the statue, and you'll receive a quest update confirming you have the antidote. The third zone contains a nice array of loot and a unique item needed for a separate quest, information on how to solve the mini-puzzle protecting it can be found at Knotty Bramble.
[edit] Reward
Make the trip back to New Sheoth to see Sickly Bernice. Once you give her the antidote, she'll reward you with the Circlet of Verdure.
[edit] Notes
- After a while, if you speak to her again, Bernice will ask for more of the stuff and give you another flask, but there is no new quest, and going back to the statue does not update that you've gotten the antidote. However, once you go back, she'll pay you with a leveled amount of gold (to a maximum of 450 gold coins).
[edit] Bugs
- If you return to the statue after completing the quest, you will receive an Aquanostrum flask even if you hadn't collected the empty flask from Bernice. This is marked as a quest item so it cannot be dropped. If you talk to Bernice and agree to help her again you can hand over the full flask only to be stuck with an empty one instead. The only fix is to use the console:
player.removeitem 0006ea50will remove the full flask from your inventory;player.removeitem 0006ea4fwill remove the empty flask.
This bug is fixed by the Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch.
[edit] Journal Entries
- Notes
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage quest stage. Wherequestis the internal name of the quest, andstageis the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
