[edit] What is the difference between 1-word and 3-word shout?
Each description just says "clear weather." Does that mean there is no difference between using 1 word or 3? Is there a hidden difference (relating to the NPC knockback or dragon-pause people mentioned)? I was just looking for any use to this shout, since it doesn't seem to affect the weather shown on the Skyrim map (the ONLY thing I was expecting it to be good for). --Amsuko 21:09, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- I think it clears the weather for longer in some cases and it seems to knock people back further. It is more of an occasionally useful shout rather than a shout that is damaging. RIM 21:30, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
[edit] Leveling Skills With "Clear the Skies" Shout
I moved the following here from main article:
-
- Clear the Skies can be used to level up your skills by:
- Let an enemy beat on you while you are healing yourself with Restoration spells or potions (Restoration spells would probaly be preferable as you can level your Restoration skill along with your armor skill).
- If you are using magicka to heal yourself, wait until your magicka is down to a small degree and then use Clear the Skies to stagger you enemy and back up so you can keep using Clear the Skies without being attacked and wait for your magicka to regenerate.
- If you are using magicka to heal yourself, you may want to have some gear that will help regenerate magicka faster.
- Use Oakflesh or another Alteration spell so you can level that up at the same time.
- Can also use this trick to level your block skill.
- The Warrior Stone, Mage Stone, or The Lover Stone would be very beneficial to this process.
- The Amulet of Talos would help as well to keep your enemy away from you longer as enemies gain a few steps towards you whenever they recover from being staggered and between the your next use of Clear the Skies.
- Clear the Skies can be used to level up your skills by:
Nearly all of this information is just generic training information, and has nothing to do with using the Clear Skies shout. It's not even clear what the relevance of the Clear Skies shout is -- is it just that the shout staggers your enemies and gives you a chance to recover? Is that really an important training tip? There are many other ways to interrupt combat and/or escape from combat, so what is special about Clear Skies? --NepheleTalk 00:44, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
- Being a shout, it does not burn magicka or use up a paralyze potion or burn a charge from a weapon or waste an arrow for the stagger or interruption. Likewise, it does not damage the low level attacker that you are kiting to go to school on and it has a relatively short cool down. Other than those economies, there is nothing special about Clear Skies as a means of interruption. Kalevala 23:04, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
[edit] Does not work in Winterhold?
I have used this shout numerous places to remove severe snowstorms that make it hard to see. However upon arriving in Winterhold, I have found that the shout does not clear the snow or clouds, or seem to do anything but anger the guards due to repetition. Can anyone confirm that this also happens in their game? Could it be a bug or is it just the devs' desire that we be unable to remove snowstorms in Winterhold? - I have found that Clear Sky only works in Winterhold until you start Hitting The Books, then it quits until a later quest completes. Once I get it working again I will update here. I know that by the time you complete the quest line it has started working again but not sure exactly which quest it is that triggers it. Yuugian (talk) 12:56, 5 February 2013 (GMT)
