Using Alchemy 101[edit]

I believe there is a page on here that will be far more useful than what I'll write on here. Oh well, I'll help you out with quick comments:

In order to create a potion, you need to find ingredients, depending on your alchemy skill level, you'll see a maximum of 4 effects listed per ingredients (some of them have only 1 effect). Until you reach the Mastery of this skill, you'll have to find a minimum of 2 ingredients sharing at LEAST 1 common effect.

Most of the common foods you see across Oblivion share the "restore fatigue" effect, so it's a good start to begin with them. Select a corn, and an apple, and there, you made your first alchemy potion.

Oh you need at least a mortar and a pestle (it's one item).

There, alchemy in short :p --Vartan 19:43, 20 March 2007 (EDT)

Using Alchemy 102[edit]

ahah :p you're welcome! Well, it is possible for that to happen, I've made some myself. "Damage health" and "Fortify endurance" or something like that. I guess you just need to find the right mix of the two ingredients. There are several ingredients that have the paralyze effect...but you have to improve your skill to find some of them as they can be labeled as a 3rd or 4th effect. If with your 2 current ingredients you can only make a paralyze effect with a positive effect..then I guess you have to wait to either come across a new ingredient that doesn't share anything positive with ingredient 2 or level your alchemy skill to find out that an ingredient you already have that has "paralyze" listed as its 2d, 3rd or 4th effect...and hopefully the rest of its effect will be different from the other ingredient you're using.

Also, when you're a master of Alchemy and you find an ingredient that has as first effect paralyze..you can make a potion out of it, you don't need to have another ingredient with the paralyze effect.

I hope i helped :) --Vartan 05:53, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

ps: look at this page Oblivion:Ingredients. For instance, I saw that Daedra venin has as first effect paralyze...so if you're a master alchemist and of a high level enough to come accross spider daedras...then you'll be able to make lots of paralyze poisons --Vartan 06:00, 30 March 2007 (EDT)
